Hello! I'm Panou! Thanks for Jen (MangaKid) for letting me have a chance to guest post in this world. Thanks a bunches! (And sorry for the rambling below haha~ I tend to be very detailed!)
Well, I don't have much to offer, but I just want to share one of my techniques or idea to avoiding art blocks and keeping great drawing ideas~ I started this about a year ago, and I bought a fairly cheap, well-sized sketchbook just for ideas and plannings of my drawings and crafts (separate from my lovely main drawing sketchbook of course~ xD). I also use it for my art classes too, since I need it to brainstorm assignment ideas. I tend to forget things easily too, and so I never really had a safe place to just jot down my drawing idea for that moment of inspiration that my brain had. xD I didn't like to carry random leaves of paper with me either I'm such a neat freak~ xD, so for me, this was a great way to keep most of my ideas organized. This was also a great way for me to see my process into achieving a good artwork presently and in the past. This is a random shot of inside my sketchbook:
Sorry for the poor photo quality there half of it is keeping it classified also *shotshot* xDDD On the top left is planning of this drawing , and on bottom left is this one. On the right page is planning of making this cake, and on bottom right is more drawing ideas that I've quickly jotted down and reviewed later.
On these pages on my sketchbook (above), I have a lot of things going on~ @u@ You can see that I can be really messy too. That gray blob was when I was testing out paints for this piece. xD These 2 pages also included planning for this and this piece. I still have some ideas in there that I haven't drawn yet, so maybe whenever I can't think of anything to draw later, I can always have something to look upon to refresh my mind.
Try it out maybe? It may not be helpful to some people, but we all have our own way of doing things~ ^^ My planning sketchbook surely helps me~ Hope it helps with your creative mind! ;D Have a great day and take care!
