Journal Prompts for Dark Delicacies:
1. In the book, Dr. Goldman was an abortion doctor, retroactively executed for performing abortions before they were illegalized. Do you think that he should have been executed? Do you think the painful execution was just? Why, or why not?
2. In the story, religion rules the government, leaving science and logic behind. How would your life be changed if religion ruled the government?
3. Abortion is one of the main issues illegalized in the story. Do you think this was right or wrong? Why, or why not?
4. Other religions were also illegalized in the book. Do you find this to be morally correct? Keep in mind that the first amendment of the Constitution was specifically changed in the book.
5. What would you do if you lived in the book, and became pregnant, by an incest rape, at age 15? Would you keep the infant, or would you attempt a self-abortion? How would you manage the emotional damage you would have from either choice?
