A swirling vortex of color appeared. It twisted around and around until suddenly a beautiful woman appeared. She held in her arms two babies whom she laid on the ground. The baby girl threw her tiny arm out and wailed. The woman took hold of the arm and kissed it. She slowly lifted her eyes to the heaven.
"Please keep my Ciro and Seline safe. They are our last hope," she prayed silently.
SNAP! She quickly turned and fled. She ran as fast as she could move.
"I won't let the Hessians get them," she thought," My children must live to avenge their race."
An arrow flew through the forest and struck her. She froze and then collapsed on the ground, dead. Two dark figures ran up to her and looked down in disgust.
"Well, well, well, if isn't the Princess Idelle, the daughter of Raderia," said one," and she's alone."
"So, the problem would be?" the second asked.
"You idiot. Princess Idelle has two children by her husband Prince Damario," the first growled, smacking the other," They are not on Raderia so thereby she brought them with her."
"I don't see what the problem is," the second grumbled,"
If the children are here then lets just leave them. They're going to die anyway."
The first one's eyes glimmered," Lurch you are a genius. We'll just leave them here and let time do the rest."
Lurch's eyes glittered," Do you really think so Lars? Wow! I've always wanted to be a genius."
"Oh just shut up and give me a hand. We need to take her Highness back to Raderia to join the rest of her nation."
They both took an arm, opened another space portal, and vanished leaving Ciro and Seline behind.
A short time later a man and his wife came walking through the woods. He was young, red haired, green eyed, and full of life. She was also young but she looked tired and older than her scant 25 years. Her blond hair glowed in the feeble sunlight and her blue eyes glistened as she held her husbands arm.
The wail of a child caught their attention.
"Did you hear that Kayla? Do you think someone dumped his or her child here to die?" he said listening.
"I hope not Darren. That would be too cruel."
A flash of blue and movement caught her eye.
"Darren look over there. What is that?"
They ran over and found the babies wrapped in some strange royal blue fabric. Kayla smiled and took Seline in her arms.
"Oh Darren look. Someone's abandoned these two children out here. Why would anyone.... Hey... What's that?" she asked.
A parcel wrapped in a similar fabric had been revealed. Darren picked it up and opened it. Inside was a letter written in some unknown language and a medallion that had been split in half. One half was engraved with a moon and stars, the other a sun.
"I don't know why Kayla, but I have the feeling that there is something different about these children," he said slowly.
"Nonsense," she said as she took Ciro in her arms as well," they're just a couple of abandoned babies.” She smiled and held the two close to her.
"Your name, my new son, is Aaron," she said grandly. Aaron gave out a loud wail. Kayla smiled and gave him to Darren.
"And your name, my little daughter, is Adara," she declared with a smile. Adara looked up at Kayla with her huge silver eyes and gave a light cry.
Kayla stood up," Come Darren, let’s take our children home."
