Hellsing's Hirano Plans to Launch New Manga in April

The March issue of Shonengahosha's Young King Ours magazine has announced on Friday that Kouta Hirano will launch his new manga series in the June issue, which will ship on April 30. Hirano ended his most famous work, Hellsing, in the same magazine last September after 11 years. The new work's title has not been announced yet. He had originally said in a June 12 blog entry last year that he was planning a fantasy work and a one-shot mystery story set in the early Showa era (after 1926) after he finishes Hellsing.

Librarians Recommend Love*Com, Spirited Away Films

The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association, has named Kitaji Ishikawa's live-action Love*Com the Movie and Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away fantasy anime film among its "2009 Fabulous Films for Young Adults" this week. The Love*Com film adapts Aya Nakahara's romantic comedy manga of the same name. This list, like the other lists of recommendations that YALSA drafts, is presented annually at the ALA Midwinter Meeting. The theme of this year's list of 16 films is "Coming of Age Around the World." YALSA composes the list to identify "a body of films relating to a theme that will appeal to young adults ages 12-18."

Dreamworks Will Make Live Action Ghost In The Shell

Steven Spielberg is a good director, and that's all I have to say about him. However now this director is moving on to more worldly properties. He now have given recent acquisition of rights to the Japanese manga "Ghost in the Shell," and DreamWorks is set to to make a 3-D Live-Action version of the cyberpunk crime thriller.

Oh my god...please don't screw this up. I mean I actually grew up on Ghost in the Shell. I'm taking a moment of silence to pray that they don't screw this up. But now here's a question for all the otakus. Who shall play our beloved Motoko Kusanagi or the great Batou?
