The boy’s had been playing for a while. When Matt started to not pay attention to the game. He kept getting nervous and fidgeting the ball when he had it. Finally when Near had to go get on more block he pulled Mello over to him.
“This is the Whammy’s private beach right?” He said pulling Mello closer to him and whispering into his ear.
“Yeah.” The blond said cocking an eye brow at the red head.
“Well. Theres some girl that keep watching us from over the wall.” He said. “I didn’t want to say anything around Near and get him angry or something.” Matt said glancing back at the three men who were talking.
“Are they still there?” Mello said. He sounded at little too eager. He was standing still as a statue and that meant trouble for poor Matt.
“I think so.” Matt sighed. “I don’t know what you’re thinking Mello, but I don’t want any part of it.
“Oh. Yes you will when I get us some hot babies!” Mello said walking out of the water. “I’ll be back. You can stay here.”
“Wait! I’ll come!” Matt said tearing after the now running blond.
L looked up from oiling Near to watch the two boys run behind a ledge. “I believe they have left you to find them.” He said glancing at Light, who was also as curios about the boys escape.
“If you would unchain me I could go see.” The caramel bodied man said. Light had finally taken off his own shirt. Tennis training and numerous other sports had pumped this human into a god like statue. Such as the kind you see in museums and exhibits, only softened with his modern textures. Soft carefully cut hair blew in the open, salty air.
“No, Light-kun. I can not trust you to be out of my sight for a moment.” L said shooing Near to go after the other two.
“What? You think I’ve got a hidden Kira thing on the beach some where?” Light slapped himself in the face when he saw the look the panda like man gave him. He would never prove his innocents to the crazy detective. He would be doomed for ever to be look like some freak couple chained together. The thought sent waves of nausea threw his system.
Slightly out of breath, Near finally caught up to the other two boy. They glanced at him as he came up and put their fingers to their lips to sign for silence. He stood with them and perked his head at the sound of soft whispering voices around the bend. He shot a small glare at Mello and Matt, who rolled their eyes and tugged him away from the bank.
“There are three girls standing there talking about us.” Mello said rubbing his hands together. “Me and Matt were just trying to come up with a plan to ambush them.” He grinned broadly in a Cheshire cat style “Maybe even take them hostage.”
Matt started to chuckle and grinned with his blond friend. “What would we do with them, Mells?” If he could grin any more he would. “I would prefer-”
“That you two STOP this foolish behavior and we go get L to chase them off.” Near said crossing his arms together and cocking his hip. The epitome of cuteness!
“Come on, Near” Matt said holding the small boy by his shoulders. “This could be really fun!” An idea hit him when Near sighed “If you help us with this I’ll spare smoking in the hotel room while we’re on vacation.”
The white curls flew about as Near turned his huge eyes up at Matt. “You promise?”
“Cross~my~heart~hope~to~die!” Matt sing songed emphasizing his sincerity by making the said actions.
“And I’ll make sure he does!” Mello chimed in pretending to put a gun to the red top.
“Fine.” Near said “Whats the plan?” He started twirling a lock of his snow white hair in his fingers. “They are girls. Shouldn’t be easy to scare really.” A cocky smile found its way to the thin lips.
“First we have to get above them.” Matt said drawing the chart in the sand.
“Then we take said substance” Mello finished scooping up a handful of the fine dust “and very slowly and softly sift it on them. I like it going down the back myself.” Mello said nodding his approval.
“Well?” both heads turned to the tiny albino, who looked as though they should have more to say. “After we dump the sand then what?”
“We let nature take it’s course.” Mello said receiving a vigorous nod from Matt. “We’ll get to that after the first step. You don’t rush art, Near.”
“Fine then.” Near said standing up and scooping as much of the sand as he could in his hands. The others could only stare as he started to walk away. They had never seen him act like this. It was kinda fun for them as they joined him, also armed with their own sand bombs.
They crept around and made careful steps up the hill till they again heard the voices. They lay on their stomachs and Near scooted enough to see where they were. He gestured the other forward and motioned for them to look. Mello and Matt looked at each other and finally moved up with him.
Bellow them Three girls sat. It was hard to tell ages yet, but then maybe their voices gave that. Mello strained his ears to hear them.
“That was dirty, Tsuki.” A girl with shoulder length strawberry blond hair said nudging the girl next to her.
“S’not.” The girl Tsuki retorted pushing the girl, causing a chain reaction that sent the last girl into the sand.
“Cut it out!” The pail blond, who had hit the ground, hissed. “If you two give us away I’ll punch your lives out!” She turned back to watching the beach.
“Are they back yet, Kara ?” The girls asked. “Yeah, man.” Tsuki said “Watching that red head dude is wayyy funna then sittin’ at home.”
Mello glanced back at the others and slowly slipped some sand onto the blond girl’s back just stopping at her rear end. She sharply turned to the other two. Who actually back some away from her killer glare. “I. Said. Stop. It.”
“Dude!” Tsuki said holding up her hands, he long red braids coming loose and flapping behind her. “Chill! We’ve been too busy looking for the hotties to touch you!”
“Yeah.” The last girl said. “Don’t kill us. Theres sand all over the place damnit.”
“Fine.” The girl said then turned to the older girl. “You come up top for a while, Mar. I gotta get some of this crap off me.”
As they shifted places the boy put all hands over the side and dumped their contents. Gasps came from below as the girls got doused in the slippery sand. Followed by a “What the Hell!?” From Mar. The boys slid down their side of the hill holding back hysterics as they continued listening to the girls cursing and scrambling about.
“T-that was great!” Near sighed out laying flat in the sand. The others nodded finally letting out a ripping chorus of laughter. Their prank had worked! It couldn’t get any better than that! Their stalkers would have to come out! And then they could go to plan B: Steal the hostages for fun time!
“What worked out so well?”
The boys turned to find both Light and L looking at them like they were cats killing canaries. They were sunk and they knew it.
