The silence was earsplitting. Light started to chuckle as the three boys suddenly shot up trying to avoid ‘telling’ on each other. L just stood there listening to their pathetic attempts to tell him who started it and what had happened in general.
“See, Matt-” Mello said gesturing to the red head with his thumb.
“See Matt nothing you baby!” Matt shouted “This pansy wanted to dump sand!”
“It was both of your's idea.” Near said trying his best to look and act as innocent as possible.
“YOU HELPED, PANSY!!!!” Both teens yelled at the tiny albino.
“Enough.” L tried but ended up putting a finger on his forehead as the boy’s continued to scream and shout things into the air.
Light finally could see that L was having about enough when clods of thick sea mud smacked him on the neck, back of the head and shoulder. All talking stopped and heads turned to stare open and unashamed at the now splattered man.
“RUN!” Matt shouted as more mud clods flew at them one hitting Mello with a heavy Splat. Matt was going to laugh but one hit him in the mouth! Near was hit in the back and finally two were planted on L’s thin stomach. He motioned for them all to retreat behind the same sand hill they had caught the boys behind.
“Got a plan?” Light said he was trying his hardest to stay away from the crazy whoever’s that had invaded their beach day. “This is vandalism! And trespassing on private property!” Light rubbed at Near’s back but the mud would require water to be un-stuck.
“This is true” L said poking at his white T-shirt. “But, we can’t be sure till we get a confession from the three instigators.”
Finally they got the whole story.
“And why didn’t you just come tell us?” L scolded with his sternest look. “If you knew the beach had been trespassed on you should have gotten me. I would have been more then happy to get ride of the flirty girls.”
“Well.” Near said twirling his hair, “Mello wanted them for something gross.”
“That’s a lie!” Mello said pulling Near’s arm in a vice grip.
“No it’s not.” Matt chimed in until a fist hit him square in the jaw. “Damn, Mello!” he shouted reaching behind him to grab some sand but Light stopped him.
“This is all you boy’s fault.” He said sternly “Now what are you going to do to fix it?”
The pause was meet with three grins. “Fight back of course.” Near stated as though it was obvious, “These girls wish for revenge on us for the sand. So, why not retaliate with them. Mud against mud, I say.”
A smirk plaid L’s thin lips. “I believe that is the right thing to do.” He said getting up and peeking around the dune. “It appears that from where these mud balls came from is that hill over there. Shall we test this theory before we open charge and attack them full on. No doubt they will be caught off guard and surprised.”
Mello shot his hand up. “I wanna be the tester!” he seamed very eager to go out. Go figure. Mello loved to fight whether in play or reality. Before they could agree or oppose he ran out in the open and shouted “HEY TRESSPASSERS! IF YOU WANNA FIGHT WE’RE READY FOR YA’!” Immediately mud came flying from the hill L had pointed out, but instead of running back Mello dashed to the bank and jumped into the water.
“Well. That’s one way to get a clean get away.” Matt snickered. Soon all the boy’s were running and diving into the water even L and Light. Who dived in with great synchronization being chained together. They came up soon and joined the others in tossing heaps of mud at the girls that they could now see clearly in their fort. Passerby’s thought the small area had become world war three with the noise that flew out. Screams, shouts and various curses riddled the air while sand was tossed with the padding and stomps of feet. Beware any creatures that came up on the beach as the morning became afternoon.
Finally a truce was called from Near, who was now covered from head to foot with a bad burn. They had forgotten to screen him in the fun of the war.
“A’ right, Gals!” Tsuki called halting the two blonds from stuffing mud down each others throats. “This little guy’s gotta be taken care of! How’s about we call it quits wif ‘em and resume at some later time?”
The group looked at each other and agreed. L picked Near up and motioned for others to follow them. Mar lagged as the other started for the hill. The other two stopped and waited for her to catch up. “What’s wrong?” Kara said brushing her hair out of her face. The wind insisted for it to be blown over her head. Stupid elements.
“The hot guy with the black hair’s got a guy chained to him.” She said flopping her head to the side. “It’s depressing for me to watch that hotty go for that snob.”
Matt and Mello’s heads shot around at that. “She thinks-” Mello said trying to stop himself from dying laughing. Matt fell over and held his sides as he chuckled at the thought of L and Light! Oh they could have fun with that!
