This is a world of music! Loud music, happy music, sad music, random music; all music! I love all music, from classic rock to classic metal to death metal to industrial to techno (used in a generic genre lumping) to (SOME) rap to (VERY LITTLE) country. If you couldn't tell already, I'm more of a "rocker." I'd rather listen to some form of rock than anything else, any day.
With each post I will include a brief summary of the band (sometimes it may be extended to rambling as I'm prone to do) and a little info on the song (possibly). I will also include info about the song (Artist, album, genre, etc). The genre area will be filled out with a few of the most common categories with which the artist/band/song is classified. Since the music scene has become more diverse it's been increasingly difficult to really narrow down a song/band to one sub-genre of music, therefore, most songs/bands have multiple genres that categorize them. So, yeah.
I will post and you will enjoy, and possibly even comment. I'd love to hear what you all think about the song, band or anything in general. Even to suggest something I should listen to/post.
Title: Distraction Album: Apocalyptica Year: 2005 Genre: Symphonic Metal Links: Official Site
Ok, to tell you the truth I haven't been listening to Apocalyptica for years like I have been with some other bands, but I have listened to a good handful of their songs for as long as I can remember. This song is awesome, and I'll post another one which is my favorite song they've done.
Apocalyptica are from Helsinki, Finland and is composed of classically trained cellists and a drummer. Since they formed in 1993 they've come across a multitude of "band members." Antero Manninen and Max Lilja (both cellists) were members up until 1999 and 2002. Among session players such as Dave Lombardo of Slayer, Apocalyptica is known for their guest vocalists. They range from Corey Taylor of Slipknot/Stone Sour (on the song "I'm Not Jesus"), to Till Lindemann from Rammstein (on the song "Helden"), to Ville Valo of HIM (on the song "Bittersweet" [which also features the vocals of Lauri Ylönen from the band The Rasmus]).
Title: Running Away Album: Hoobastank Year: 2001 Genre: Post Grunge, Alternative Links: Official Site
Hoobastank is a great band that I got into because of a school friend back when I was attending middle school. This song still maintains the original lineup of the band, while after the next album a bassist change-up is put in motion. This is one of my favorite songs from their self titled album; an album that I can listen to from start to finish without skipping a song. Only one other album has kept me devoted to it like that, and that album was Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park.
First video is an AWESOME acoustic version of the song and the second is the official video. The first video's audio is quite loud and the second's is quiter than normal. Just a forewarning.
Title: My Last Serenade Album: Alive or Just Breathing Year: 2002 Genre: Melodic Metalcore Links: Official Site
This is a song back from 2002 off of Killswitch Engage's album Alive or Just Breathing. This song was actually the last single that was released with Jesse Leach as the lead vocalist for the band. This album is also the last album to feature Adam D (solely) on the drums (the next album [and onward] Adam D is primarily the bands guitarist), and the introduction of a new lead vocalist and drummer.
The first video is a live video of Killswitch playing a show not too long ago. The reason for the live video is because they asked Jesse to come out to sing My Last Serenade instead of Howard. The audio is a bit distorted, but that doesn't really take away from the video or song.
The second video is the official music video back from 2002. Enjoy. :)
If you've ever listened to Killswitch Engage you may recognize the vocalist for TESF as Jesse Leach the original lead vocalist for Killswitch. KsE now has Howard who is wonderful in his own right and has awesome clean vocals as well as a nice deep growl/scream. Jesse has been in a number of other bands since leaving KsE but with TESF shows the return of Jesse to a harder, heavier sound and more aggressive vocals.
