Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13

First off I don't understand why the didn't just call it final fantasy 13-3, anyway on to the game. LR-FF13 has 5 main quests. the interesting thing is that it doesn't follow any set order or path. It's true that you have 5 quests but you can do them in any order you want.

The different approach to game play from the others is also interesting, in a good way. costumes give you different abilities and allow you to make your own look, you can even change the color of certain parts of out fits. Even though the new combat and leveling style of this installment are unique to final fantasy, it still makes for an amazing and strategic game.

Combat is as much different as it is the same, you can still stagger and a new addition lets you set your own skills and mix skills from the previous classes in FF13. Special weapons and shields determine stats like physical and magic damage, while also affecting health and defense. Adornments allow you to customize your style further, but sadly accessories don't show up on your character.

Leveling up is different instead of the traditional level grinding by beating monsters to gain exp. Instead "levels" are gained by completing side quests, upon completion a side quest gives you, health, magic, physical damage upgrades. So the more side quests you complete the stronger you get.

There is a a time limit to the game 13 days, which doesn't seem very long, but thanks to chronostasis you can stop time temporally. and 13 days is longer than it seems, I was able to beat all the main quests in the first 5 days, which left me the next 7 days to complete side quests. Doing side quests can easily extend the time left to the full thirteen days.

This game brings an satisfying end to my most beloved final fantasy tale. With a beautiful soundtrack as well. Final judgement 5/5
