The Surreal Life Part XXXVII

So a reallllly old internet friend of mine recently contacted me via LJ a couple days ago wanting to catch up on things between the two of us. Mind you, it's been years and years since we last chatted with each other (all the way back to the times when I still went on AIM, haha), so getting a message from her was a total surprise for me. And this was the exchange that transpired on her LJ, edited to just show the most relevant bits (her comments are in italics):

I'm a college freshman now in a small liberal arts school in Ohio and am currently having a blast. I still write fic, though pretty infrequently b/c I'm so slow. ^^;

Holy hell I was just in Ohio staying at Kenyon (a small liberal arts college) for their Young Writers Program, and while I was out there I visited Oberlin as well. I'm so glad you're having fun! I can't wait to get senior year done with and start college =D

Ok WTF. Kenyon IS the college I'm going to AND I WAS ON CAMPUS DURING THE SUMMER WHEN THE YOUNG WRITERS WERE AROUND. We were in each other's vicinity for two weeks and didn't know! Did you stay in McBride?? Because that's the dorm I was in too. @__________@;;

My brain just exploded because yes, I was in McBride and I COULDNT HAVE CONTACTED YOU SOONER SO WE COULD HAVE KNOWN THIS BEFORE GAH!!!! I was there during the second session (july 13-30 or something like that) were you there when the Unitarians were all there?

Yeah, I was there during the second session. I remember Ernst always being so full. T___T

Not sure if you were aware of it, but the first floor of the smaller side of McBride was reserved for my little group of twelve. I was one of two Asian girls in that group... I don't know, I might stick out in your memory for reason. xDD;;

I SWEAR, EVERYTHING GOES BACK TO THIS SCHOOL!! I mean, I met my Kenyon overnight visit host via LJ too, not to mention Avril & an old classmate from middle school who I haven't even mentioned on here yet is in my freshmen class too! DDD:

SO THERE'S THE CUTE DORM HALL BOY WHO ECCENTRIC NYER WAS HITTING ON THE OTHER DAY. (Actually, NYer claims that he was just being rly nice to him b/c he likes encountering Asians of all kinds & Cute Dorm Boy is half Asian. I'm still kind of suspicious though!) And I was watching a movie w/Panda just now in the theatre @ the athletic center, and when we left the theater, Cute Dorm Hall Boy was there. (German Boy was there too, but WHATEV b/c we didn't talk to each other anyway AND HE MIGHT BE GEI) AND THEN CUTE DORM BOY SAID THE DARNDEST THING TO ME:

"I really like seeing you. Like, you make me feel really happy. I don't know why! Maybe because you're always smiling and seem so pleasant all the time."

AHHHH. DID YOU READ THAT?!?!? I feel real creepy writing about this just fifteen minutes after it happened, but STILL!

LIFE IS AMAZING!! LIFE IS AWESOME!! I LOVE LIFE!!

I just spent the most awkward two hours of my life.

So there's the aforementioned German Boy, who I FINALLY saw during an event on campus. I was sitting with my old roommate at the time, and she was all like, "TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY!!" And who was I to refuse her?

I thought it was a blessing that a boy from my dorm hall was sitting next to him, since I then had an excuse to sit next to German Boy... but later on I realized that that little fact was actually rather unfortunate for me. To sum it up:

1. ...Okay, so he's not talking to me at all.
2. Let's make chit-chat!
3. YAY HE TALKED TO ME FOR FIFTEEN SECONDS.
4 .....and now he's talking to the guy from my dorm hall again.
5. Great.
6. *pouts*
7. *pouts*
8. Oh my God, he's really not interested in talking to me.
9. Actually, he only seems interested in talking to the guy from my hall...

11. IS HE GAY??
12. It's possible, since there's so many gays in this school!

It did not help that the event itself was a Date Doctor thing, which was all about what turns girls & guys on and about how to effectively approach the opposite sex. *FACEPALM*

Okay, so I said before that I befriended a couple guys in my dorm hall who are cute & not assholes. So one of these guys came to sit with Eccentric NYer & I during dinner. But the bitch of it is that right when NYer first laid eyes on my Cute Dorm Hall Boy, HE TOTALLY STARTED HITTING ON HIM. And I can tell b/c I know him well enough to read his "I'm attracted to this guy!" signals. i.e. at one point, Cute Dorm Hall Boy was talking about how he has six hours of classes on fridays and NYer was all, "Aww, I'll never see you again~~~" And I was like, "BACK OFF BITCH WHAT YOU DOIN" except without actually saying anything.

I love NYer and all, but SERIOUSLY. He has GOT to stop trying to turn all the cute guys in this college gay.

....omg how fucked up is my life that I'm competing over guys with my best gay friend?

I've managed to become friends with the two guys in my hall who I think are cute (albeit in VERY different ways) & aren't assholes, but I STILL have yet to get in good with Cute German Boy, who I still want to be friends with most! WHY DOES HE DENY ME??? WHY DOESN'T HE HANG OUT WITH ECCENTRIC NYER MORE SO THAT HE CAN BE EASY ACCESS??

Oh, and I didn't get to meet Avril yesterday, but I finally did see her today! For two seconds, haha, but she tapped my shoulder while I was waiting in line for dinner, and I went omgAHHHHHHHHH!!1 when I turned around and saw her. Then we hugged, and she's so skinny that I thought she would break. DD:

And I had to buy exactly twenty books for my classes, and had to lug all of them back to my dorm all by myself. :((
