The Dark Knight
HOLY SHIT IT WAS AMAZING!! Usually, I inevitably get a little disappointed when a movie is hyped up so much, but this totally lived up to everything. Including the whole three year wait! God, it was so good.
FYI, the plot of the story is heavily based around the themes of the graphic novel The Killing Joke. (Even just reading a summary of the story will probably make obvious its connections to the film.) Never got around to reading it earlier, although I will definitely try harder to now.
EDIT: LOL @ IMDb
Tentative 1st Semester Schedule
Very very tentative:
PSCI 101Y.05 The Quest for Justice
MWF 9:10 am-10:00 am
INST 131.00 China in Transition
TR 9:40 am-11:00 am
CHNS 111Y.00 Intensive Intro Chinese
MTWRF 12:10 pm-1:00 pm (not including TA sessions)
PHIL 110.00 Introduction to Ethics
WF 2:10 pm-3:30 pm
So basically, I'll be learning a lot of shit about China. Not taking Japanese because the class interferes with Quest for Justice, which is a class I HAVE to take since I'm thinking of being a Political Science major w/ an Asian Studies concentration. (Also very tentative.) At least learning Chinese characters will help supplement kanji reading ability, though my Japanese skills will probably deteriorate in every other area. >_>;;
I really hope this schedule works out because it's pretty perfect for me; pretty well spread out throughout the week and no 8AM classes! :D
Some recommendations for future first year college students who will go through this same process: do your course planning well before orientation so that you have a better chance of getting into the classes you want. Even though you can't register early, you can get in good with professors by emailing them about your interest in their class and even meeting with them on campus if possible. And I also recommend having ratemyprofessor and your campus map on different tabs while planning courses, the latter especially if you are considering classes that are very closely spaced. And if you know upperclassmen, then definitely use them! :OO
Regarding lifestuff: group went blueberry picking at a farm yesterday, then Eccentric New Yorker, Male Chicagoan, and I got treated to free donuts, zucchini bread, sourdough bread and jam at the local farmer's market. (Unlike in Chicago, this was, like, an actual farmer's market with Amish-looking people selling goods.) And so much behind-the-doors drama has been ensuing in the dorm that we would probably make a decent reality tv show. (And yeah, I'm involved in some of it. D:) Though one nice thing that happened last night was that Snarky Baltimore Boy decided to be kind and kicked four other people out of my room last night so that I could go to sleep. (Since I'm too wimpy and nice to do it myself. DD:) And I think he did it b/c he heard me talking to Eccentric New Yorker the night before about how I was getting annoyed with Korea Girl for always being in my room and talking to my roommate when I wanted to sleep. :(
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, Eccentric New Yorker likes Jaejoong! :DD:D:DD
I showed him this picture and he was all, "He's gorgeous! :OOO" And I was like, "I know! He's my faaaaavorite!" And Korea Girl doesn't hate DBSK as much as I assumed she did (she actually seems to like Junsu), since we both watched all of their Star Show appearance last night. And then New Yorker Girl walked in and was all, "I HAVE A FRIEND WHO'S OBSESSED WITH THOSE GUYS." omg everyone loves them! :O
*will now go to email a few more professors then see The Dark Knight for free~* :D
EDIT: OH, and Korea Girl said the boys' Korean interviews are waaaay funnier in Korean, since they use lots of puns. So us sub readers have been severely missing out all this time. :(((
Campus pics!
Lifting these from Panda's Facebook. Why take my own photos when I can use someone else's! :DD
Since tsubusa asked for pics...
I don't have my USB, so I can't upload any of my own pics, though I CAN link to a few pics that Texan Girl uploaded to her Facebook. :DD
MAN I LOOK GOOD IN THIS PIC. I should be on a brochure. Oh, and the other two kind of look okay I guess.
At the Latino Festival. My RA (the one who shook his butt at me) is on the farthest left and Texan Girl (paper cranes) is the little one next to him.
ARTSY.
Yeah. I think I'm real cute when I laugh. :DD
AWW MY FACE. The guy laughing with me is Eccentric New Yorker! :D
She uploaded a whole bunch of pics of me, but I'm only putting up a few because I found out something over the past few days: I look fugly in pictures taken with flash! I took comparison pics in my room when my roommate was out and the difference was alarming. It's like:
without flash = normal, cute me
with flash = FUGLY MESS
It's so gross. I mean, I knew this applied to BJDs, but I didn't realize flash made such a huge difference with me too! And it totally explains why I turn out looking so weird in so many pics. :((
EDIT: Had to cut out the Jae pic to make room for my fifth pic above. Sorry Jae, but my pics are slightly more significant than yours. No hard feelings.
Oh. And I had a lengthy conversation with aforementioned New Yorker boy last night, which at one point veered into him describing (in detail!) his prior gay sexual experiences. All I can say is, BL smut seems to... sugarcoat some things. And I feel like college is quickly making me impure. :((
The Dirt Hole.
Posting because I've found that the Data Analysis course leaves me a lot less tired and overworked than the English course did, and because half the group (me not included) just came back from what was presumably their first stripper bar experience.
The Fox Hole, nicknamed The Dirt Hole by us dormites too grossed out to drop by, is a rundown shack of a stripper bar located near-ish Mount Vernon and right in the vicinity of the local Amish community, interestingly enough. And from what I heard after the group, three guys and three girls, came back smelling of cigarettes was, the experience was about as gross as everyone was expecting it to be. As in, the strippers were topless and had beer bellies and were kind of old-looking and did really awkward, uncomfortable things to the guys while giving them a table dance... thing.
And speaking of stripping, earlier my RA walked out from the bathroom with only his boxers on, which prompted me to say, "EWWWW. What do you think this is??" And he replied, "This is my home, I can do what I want!" Then danced around the hallway while singing, "Da da da da da!" I tried to escape by running to the back staircase, but he burst through the door and shook his thinly-clad butt at me.
This is college.
