Michael Phelps & Aaron Eckhart

1) I was talking to Eccentric NYer about the Olympics, and he brought up that he had heard that Michael Phelps is "kind of a bitch."

Phelps actually visited my h.s. during freshman year, though only the swim team got to meet him. That was when I was first clued in on his possible douche-ness, since I had a friend who joined the team just to meet him and ended up really disappointed since Phelps didn't give out autographs and didn't swim with the team either. (Which sort of makes me wonder why he was even there?) But I chalked it up to management issues and didn't really think much of it afterwards...

So I searched the celebrity wank LJ comm ohnotheydidnt (which is a GREAT comm btw) for Phelps posts and came upon a picture post with a thread in the comments about how much of a manwhore Phelps is at UofMich. My fav comment: my roommate's friend was out at a bar, went up to him and started flattering him and stuff to get him talking then suddenly she was like, "you are a piece of shit. the way you treat girls at this school is a fucking disgrace."

I guess he just stood there stunned then walked away, but came back with a bouncer and the bouncer kicked her out of the bar.

LOL. I like him a lot as an athlete, so it kind of sucks to hear about all this, although I won't deny that it makes for good cellphone convo fodder. :)

2) Thought this was an interesting read: speculation on The Dark Knight's chances of getting an Oscar nod for Best Picture. I don't have an informed opinion on the matter (certainly the article says more than I ever could), though I do hope the Academy doesn't snub it just because it's Batman. That well-known critics were making should-be comments about the film's Oscar chances even before the thing was released obviously adds to its cred, and with so much support behind its getting a nom, I don't see any reason why they SHOULDN'T recognize TDK at this point if the only hindrance is reputation. :/

On a vaguely relate note, my mom is renting Thank You for Smoking (starring Aaron Eckhart a.k.a. Harvey Dent) after work today. I've seen it three times already, but am still excited to see it again b/c it's just THAT amazing. Easily one of my most favorite comedy films ever and it has such a brilliant script, guh. Aaron Eckhart for prez.

EDIT:

I like this influx of TDK parodies. :)

The Gangsta Boyband of Korea.

First off, today Eccentric New Yorker and I had our first lengthy conversation since before I left Kenyon. We talked about how lazy and disgusting we've been since coming home, haha. I also went to Berry Chill (Chicago's resident Pinkberry/Red Mango clone) for the first time, and bought a very nice (and not so pricey!) shirt from H&M. It's like my new favorite shirt now omg. Soooooo pretty. *will probably camwhore in it some day* :P

So I guess Big Bang (a.k.a. that one group that I would probably pay way more attention to if DBSK weren't around) has a new music video out. I loved the song on my first listen, but the video itself... oh my lulz.

You know, I really like how G-Dragon & TOP's whole dynamic is them either having some sort of rivalry over a girl or them being gay with each other.

Oh Korea, why are you so perfect in your strange and contradictory ways?

EDIT: A list was just posted of which Korean variety shows the boys will be appearing in for 4th album promotions:

- Star golden bell
- Happy together
- Star king
- Change

The only one I haven't seen before is Change. Others keep saying that it's great, so I'm currently watching Big Bang's appearance on it, and the show seems pretty damn marvelous. And Lee Hyori is one of the hosts LOL. Which basically means she'll be hitting on Yunho the whole time.

...Though to be fair, I would do the same thing if I were her.

New hairstyles...?

1) LOL @ YOOCHUN'S BOWLCUT AHAHA. As you can see, bowlcuts are currently the in-thing in Korea. What is wrong with that country.

2) Hmm... not sure what to think about Jae's hair. It looks okay when he ducks his head like in the above, but it looks kinda weird at some angles. Probably because this style has no bangs and Jae always has bangs. Ah well, maybe it just needs a couple weeks to grow out like most haircuts I've ever had.

...Though his new hair certainly has its perks ehehehehe. *~*

Which reminds me that I'll need to be getting a haircut sometime during the next couple weeks. I'm thinking of trying something new, so I'll probably be getting slanted bangs. :D

FABULOUS clothing.

TO ALL PEOPLE WHO ARE INTO FASHION: you MUST play The World Ends With You! It's a DS game half-ly made by Squenix, mostly known for its dual-screen gameplay blah blah blah. But the REAL highlight is its character designs. And by character designs, I of course mean clothing:

EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER IS DRESSED FABULOUSLY!! The game has a shopping option and it's even more addictive than regular shopping because I have a ridiculous sum of money and everything looks FABULOUS. Look at the little outfit I put together for one of my characters:

ISN'T THAT THE CUTEST LITTLE PIXELATED SHIRT EVER. I wish this game were real and I really did have ¥100,000 to regularly throw around in Shibuya. :(

I'm not nearly as big on fashion as other people I know, but I def. like admiring nice clothes when I get the opportunity to. Which is one reason (out of a million) why I like the boys so much: they have a FABULOUS wardrobe! You could probably plop Jaejoong right into the game and he'd fit in perfectly, haha. I'm particularly impressed with their beanie collection; the boys have the best, nicest-looking, most FABULOUS beanies ever. In fact, I have yet to see a beanie in the game that looks nearly as nice as the boys'...

Coincidentally, I stumbled upon a list of what clothing companies the boys endorse/sponsor just before making this post: Abercrombie, American Apparel, Banana Republic, ARMANI, BOSS, A/X, BURBERRY' Polo Ralph Lauren, POLO Jeans, UNIQLO, Diesel, LACOSTE, NIKE, DIIK, BSX, codes-combine, general idea by bumsuk, GUESS, TOMMY HILFIGER, Kai-aaKmann, BON, ADEN, eloq, PERRYELLIS AMERICA, TATE, LEVI'S, Thursday Island, CHRIS-CHRISTY, D-TYPE, ANDEW, BUCKAROO, codes-combine basic, Series, G-STAR

This makes one thing very clear: I def. need to make nice-nice with the boys. They's be my connections. :)

But back to the main topic that I have strayed so far from: play the game for, if not anything else, the clothes and the clothes. Oh yes, and also the tiny pixelated sushi. External Image

DS Games & Fake Subs

So I've wanted to play Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for the past couple years now. A year ago, I downloaded a rom of the game and tried playing it on various DS emulators, but none of them were far enough along in development to play a game as complicated as DoS. There was no way in hell I was buying a DS just to play one game, so I basically gave up at that point.

BUT, I decided now was as good as time as any to retry. I did some Google snooping and in the end...

I finally found an emulator that plays it perfectly! I'm still near the beginning, but I'm having oodles of fun with the game so far, sort of makes me wonder why I've never played Symphony of the Night before. The only issues are the wonky control set up and that the touchscreen features are basically just tracing stuff with the mouse pointer... which is actually difficult b/c I'm using a laptop mousepad and my hands are apparently shaky as hell. I can't even make a V-shape without somehow fucking it up! :(((

I've also been playing Phoenix Wright (my laptop is basically oozing with illegalness), though I seriously get annoyed with those games sometimes. Especially when I realized that the defendants of so many of the cases have zero motive for killing the victim, and yet when you come upon the REAL murderer, prosecution presses you for motive all the time. God, it's so annoying! If I was Phoenix Wright, I totally would have strangled the judge by the third case, end of story.

And @the fangirls, this is the tragic life story of our future husbands:
