Psychology & YunJae

  • Staying up studying for Psych, and I just ran into this interesting tidbit:

Compared with people of the same age, race, sex, and neighborhood, those who keep a gun in the home (ironically, often for protection) are nearly three times more likely to be murdered in the home--nearly always by a family member or close acquaintance. For every self-defense use of a gun in the home, there are 4 unintentional shootings, 7 criminal assaults or homicides, and 11 attempted or completed suicides.

What I've noticed is... when Americans speculate about the now well-known fact that Canada has less gun violence than its neighbor down south, a lot of people seem to suggest that Canada (and all other non-American countries in the world, for that matter) is somehow innately less violent a country. But doesn't it seem more likely that the simple perception of America being a violent country is enough to make that perception a reality? If the self-fulfilling prophecy applies to individual people, then certainly it could also apply to whole societies. Not to say that people should go around hugging everyone they meet on the street, but I think a society as a whole ridding itself of the belief that "everyone you don't know is dangerous/out to get you" will make a huge difference in this unhealthy paranoia we've built up.

  • Yes, the bullet point means we are moving on to the YunJae part. :3

So in the midst of my frantic cramming, I found myself wondering what YunJae would be like if they were characters in a Western soap opera. (I've had a weird day, ok. >_>) And unsurprisingly, I ended up with YunJae as the middle-class couple with love problems: Jaejoong plays the part of the nagging, overbearing wifey/mouthy drunk when he's had one too many Spritzers & Yunho is the overworked lawyer-husband/pitiful target of Jae's passive-aggressive snippiness. And YooSuMin would be the musicians who live in a studio on the floor directly above, and the three of them can hear every word of their arguments. :D

...And all of that sounds more like a dark sitcom rather than a soap, but hey, I'm flexible. 8D

Twenty Hour & One-Year Ann.!

The finished project! (Not including firing & glazing, of course.) I'll probably be sending them all off to school tomorrow; let's hope none of them explode in the kiln. D:

AND SPEAKING OF THE BOYS: it was around this time one year ago that I submitted to The Will of the Dong Bang and was lured into their legion of mindless fangirl slaves. :D

I felt obligated to write some overly-sentimental tribute to mark the occasion, but thought to myself, "I don't even know where to begin!!" and "I'm too tired to write anything lengthy!!" So I'll settle for posting this video, which I think sums up the totality of the boys. :3

Basically, they're always high... ON LAUGHTER.

The product of the first 10 hours of my 20-hour project:

Made entirely out of porcelain clay.

(And the reason why I never posted pictures of my first semester 20-hour is because the thing is still at school in an area that's difficult to get good lighting in. D:)

Dorm Halls, Camwhoring & Crack Dreams

  • A while back, Kenyon sent me my Book of Forms, which helps determine which dorm I stay in, who my roommate will be, and all other sorts of important college-life things.

At first, I was least optimistic about two dorm halls that are co-ed by room, since I'm guessing that living next to guys might be more troublesome than living next to girls. (No offense to the male population. :P) But thankfully, I have Avril as an insider, as she promptly informed me that "those two dorm halls are the only ones with air conditioning!" And then I was like, "......WELL I CAN LIVE WITH GUYS. 8DD" Needless to say, my last two choices suddenly became my first two. :3

  • So throughout the week, I thought it would be fun to do some impromptu camwhoring. :DD

Even though I really hate how I'm just NOT made to look good in pictures. It's like, whenever a camera lens is pointed in my direction, my innate Asian Girl Cuteness & Charm is automatically halved. But I still try ok. :((

So these were a few pics that didn't turn out as hideously bad as some of the others:

Creeped out by the images on my computer
Suspicious of the images on my computer
SHOCKED but still somehow intrigued by the images on my computer (a.k.a. discovering BL)

The last pic is the only one that shows my real skin tone! STUPID LIGHTING. DD:

  • Apparently, my recent fandom deprivation has caused my mind to concoct crack ass DBSK dreams. DD:

I only remember the end of it: Yunho, Jae, and Changmin were filming for a Japanese variety show, and their "mission" was to go into a hotel and knock on the door of some fan of theirs who was staying in one of the rooms. So Jaejoong went into the building, then in the elevator there was a voice on some intercom thing that said, "Go back and get Yunho. The girl said Yunho MUST be there when you answer the door!" And Jaejoong was like, "A Yunho fan?? =______="

So he went back to the other two and announced, "The girl wants No-Talent Yunho to be there too." (LOL) And Yunho puts on this forced smile for the camera, and Jae pats his back and is like, "J/K J/K" (YE GADS, I EVEN DREAM YUNJAE.)

And then the dream ended with a van pulling up next to them, and Changmin leaping out of the way in time for two teens in Japanese schoolgirl outfits to run out, drag Yunho into the car, and speed off. Best of all, Yunho was just like, "*shrugs* Oh well!" about getting kidnapped, while JaeMin just stood there going o__O. I like to think the two girls were tsubusa and CD ~in disguise~ :OO

ZETSUBOU SHITA.

Dropping by to announce that I'm going on a semi study exile for the next few weeks or so. From this point on, if you see me post more than, say, three posts per week (on all my worlds in total), then feel free to write "YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE STUDYING, STUPID/YOU'RE DOOMED TO FAIL" etc. etc. in the comments. :D

Honestly, I shouldn't even be online right now, I have so much shit to do. God, I don't think I'll even be able to keep up with DBSK. *UNFATHOMABLE ANGUISH* DD:

Umm, yes. One last thing to leave you all with: I don't know how many of you have been keeping up with the viral marketing campaign for The Dark Knight, but IMO, it's pretty much on par with Cloverfield in terms of sheer awesomeness & the amount of effort that's being put into the whole thing.

This website is my favorite. Click on the slip of paper peeking out of the envelope at the bottom, then follow the links & directions. Make sure to fill out your real information at the end. :D
