Today was the start of Freshman registration for the Spring semester, right? Well, last night I recieved an e-mail from the school letting us know that the registration period started at 8:00 this morning and thought, "okay. I'm up at that time anyway, so no problem!
"
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell...
This morning at about 9:00, I turn on my computer to find that it's taking forever for my homepage to load. I quickly find out after that that my homepage won't even bother showing itself on the screen.
First of all, my computer tends to be a little screwy with me anyway, so I thought something serioulsy wrong on it decided to rear it's ugly head to prevent me from registering. To confirm this or not, I decided to go to theO, which worked like a charm. Not that I wasn't estatic about it, but I was to busy being curious as to what the hec was going on.
I found out from my Computer professor, who is in charge of the school's network system, later what was up. This is what he told us in class today:
"I got up this morning and did my regular checks on the network. At 6:30, everything was fine. I checked again later at 8:00, and everything was still fine. At 8:05, I started getting phone calls..." He went on to tell us that our network system isn't designed to handle a substantial amount of people logging on at once. In short--it totally crashed.
This made me and several other of my fellow freshman ticked.
I don't have any problems against my school's method of registration, which states that freshman are the last to register before new-commers, an event like this totally sucks!!! ![]()

The good news?
The old system of registering--which requires going to the registrar's office personally--was still up and running and void of any long lines when I got there, so I was able to sign up for most of the classes I needed/wanted to take. (*phew!* Note to self and all those reading this: ALWAYS have a list with the specifics of what you want and when you want it at hand! ^-^)
...but the fact that our network crashed on such an important day still tanks...
