Shrouded in shadows, my eyes move up his back. I can see his blond hair falling in waves to his neck, and reaching down to touch his nose. He shivers as if he knows I'm there then looks around to see Jenny walking up. I casually flip my short black hair over my shoulder as I walk forward. Jenny glances at me, figuring out I am in the park too.
Adam turns around to face Jenny, her face is blushing slightly. My eyes are like lasers hitting Jenny; I did not mean to meet anyone in the park tonight, especially not this late. Never in my wildest dreams would Adam and Jenny be together, yet here they stand. She walks up to him, smiles and says hello. Once again she looks over to me as if to shoo me away from their private meeting, but I don't budge.
Adam does not seem to notice me, so I start to creep away, I would not want to interrupt their meeting... I guess I will continue with my business. Making myself walk in the shadows of the giant trees, I end up right beside them. My hand raises to wave a quick good-bye when I freeze.
Time slows and I'm frozen in that moment, unable to move my eyes away. Jenny had shyly swooped forward and touched her lips to his. Her arms wrap around his neck and I gasp a little louder than I should have. Adam spins around to see me, just standing there. My mouth is gaping and tears are welling in my eyes.
But my legs won't move, they feel like stone. I collapse and everything goes black. The last thing in my mind is the picture of him running forward to catch me and the dark glare of Jenny.
My body feels numb. Where could I be? In a hospital? Am I still in the park? I lift my eyelids to find darkness still, trees are covering the sky and I can hear the waves of the ocean, crashing against the sand. Wait an ocean!? Quickly, I stand to wobble slightly at the surprising view before me. I am in a house on a cliff above the ocean, with a dirt path leading to the waves and the patch of sand below. Crystal blue water caresses the sand as it moves up and down the beach. Trees surround the house and the sky is dark with the only light as the full moon hanging over the ocean.
Footsteps tread quietly on the dirt path; multiple people appear from the path. First one head, then a second, and even a third peeks through the trees. The door to my right opens and they all come inside the house. "Is she awake yet?" said the first one with a soothing voice. "It does not look like it," said the second who had come over and was inspecting me.
Right before they came in I made my body limp and feigned sleep. One of them turned on a light and I stood up once I saw his face. "What happened Adam?" I asked. "Well, you fainted so we brought you to our house," he stated plainly, "you saw the princess of Ankatarta kiss me then fainted," he continued. I glanced from his smiling face to his friends. "This is Claire, the princess of Lotus Palace," he said pointing at me.
I look around to see if anyone is around me, because I know I am no princess. "She is the woman we must win in this contest of love," said the second man. He is taller than me and has dark brown hair that is almost black. Chocolate brown eyes peek from under his hair which is casually flipped every now and then to keep it out of his eyes, a snake tattoo crawls up his neck to his cheek. Now looking at his clothes, I can see his muscular arms through his red t-shirt. "This guy here," Adam motions at the guy I was looking over, "is Jake. He is the prince of Fidelio." A prince?
Oh my gosh! How can so many hot guys be in one place? I could feel myself blushing. They could obviously tell also, because they seemed to be laughing quietly. Geez, what's next a wizard? Wait, wasn't there one more guy? I look around the room and see him through the window.
He is the tallest guy out of the four and has black hair. His black hair falls to his neck and clings, the weather outside changed so quickly. Rain starts to fall and he turns his view from the ocean and the rising sun towards the house, as he makes his way up. Blue eyes glow from under his hair and he catches my eyes and waves to me. My heart flutters and flip-flops in my chest. He is so hot! But are they serious about this princess thing? "Oh yeah, that guy outside is Sho, prince of Butterfliet," Adam says.
The door opens and Sho comes inside. He shakes his black hair to rid it of water droplets and focus his blue eyes on me, nodding a hello before moving into a corner. Are these guys really here for me? Suddenly I feel dizzy, and sway. Adam and Sho both try to catch me but Jake is the closest, he pulls be to his chest and lifts me off my feet into his arms. "I think our lady may be a bit tired and overwhelmed," he cooed. "Since we didn't expect you we don't have an extra bed... Why don't you sleep with me tonight?"
No way! "I don't know if I can trust you yet," I whisper and playfully wink. Hold up, did I just flirt with this guy? Adam comes over and takes me out of Jake's arms. "I think she won't mind sleeping on the couch for a few nights until her bed arrives," Adam says. "She can sleep in my room, I'll sleep on the couch," Sho said. Aw, he is so sweet!
That night I think about everything that happened that day and feel lucky that I get to stay with these guys instead of all by myself in my apartment. My parents died when I was 5 when a burglar came into our house and killed them while taking our valuables. I moved out of my grandma's house on my 17th birthday last year. My eyes get heavier and eventually I drift into a deep sleep.
