-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And there you have it, my first visit to the club Vampire Death. The name, Vampire Death, is quite ironic for a club full of vampires if you ask me. You could be asking yourself: “Why call it Vampire Death?” I asked myself the same thing. Actually, I’m sure many of the other vampires asked themselves the same question. I haven’t figured it out quite yet why anyone would want to name it that. Maybe you can figure it out for me. As I told you before, I’ve been going to Vampire Death ever since my first time there. Sometimes I sit there and draw, adding things to my sketch book which I call: Den of the Vampires. It’s my own little world inside a giant pad of paper. I’ll come right here after school and sit in my booth in the back. (I’ve claimed it my own since everyone knows that’s where I sit.) I’ll draw everyone around me. Sometimes adding five pages to it a day. It just depends on how long I stay. If I stay until it’s closed, which is basically until the next morning, I’ll get a lot of pages drawn. If I go home around ten at night I don’t get many pages drawn. Not many vampires come out until later on in the middle of the night. And on Friday nights I know better than to bring anything valuable if I want to join in on the Blood Bath. They do the Blood Bath every Friday night and I know now not to bring my sketch book or back pack on that night. So I stop home after school and then sneak out of the house when it’s time. Not that I need to sneak out. It’s not like my mom cares where I’m going anyways. And, since I’m really not allowed to be in night clubs yet, the bartender comes over and checks on my every once in a while. We’ve become quite good friends. I show him what I’ve drawn and he gives me a free drink. (And no… do you really think that in a vampire night club they would sell alcohol? I didn’t think so!) He’s about my age. He’s actually only a year older even though he’s been the same age for about thirty years. We talk about things… random things. It’s usually about school and what it’s like living with the mortals. I’ve never called them mortals before… I always thought we were the same race. It never occurred to me that I might be something else, something not exactly human.
“Hey, Hun. Drawing again?” he asks settling down in the seat across from me. He plops down a big glass of liquid on the table and slides it towards me.
“What else would I be doing, Quade?” I replied looking up at him through my bangs. “I’m always drawing, you idiot.”
“You’re so kind to your only friend in here, Kaiyashi.” Quade replied smirking at me.
I glared at him while staring at him right in the eye. His wild green eyes flared with curiosity of what my comeback might be. I smacked him upside the head causing his fairly long red hair, which covered his left eye, to get messy and out of place. He frowned and then made a face at me.
“You’re not my only friend! I know plenty of other vampires,” I said, getting antsy.
“Oh? Really? Might I ask who you may be talking about?”
I sighed. He was right as usual. Who else did I know but him? It’s not like any of the other vampires talked to me. They think I’ve been hanging around with the mortals for too long and that I’m not good enough to join them. They’re all morons if you ask me. All they think about is who they’re going to kill off next for their next meal. Pathetic… really pathetic. I mean… if that was all I thought about I don’t think I’d be able to handle school; even though I’ve been going there less and less. If I’m going to be a vampire for the rest of my life, what’s the point of going to school? Am I right? The way I see it is this: If I’m going to live forever there’s no need to even bother!
“Never mind that, Quade. What’s up?” I asked, not really sure what else to say.
“You’ve been skipping school a lot lately. Is there something wrong?”
It’s like he just read my mind!!! How does he do this? Note to self: Figure out Quade’s secret!
“No, there’s nothing wrong. Why would you ask that?”
“You just seem to be here more than usual. That’s all.” Quade replied, brushing his hair out of his face with the back of his hand. It didn’t work though and his hair fell right back into place.
“I just don’t feel like going.”
“Not everyone feels like doing what they have to do, Hun. You can’t just skip school because you don’t feel like it.” Quade stated, as if he was going to start giving me a lecture.
“There’s no need for me to go if I’m just going to live forever! Geez! What are you my mother?!” I yelled, starting to get angry. I hate when people try to control me.
“Who the hell said I was your mother?! Damn! I’m no women! Kaiyashi you’ve been quite pissy lately.”
I grunted and looked back down at my sketch. I was getting aggravated. Of course I’ve been pissy… who wouldn’t be when they have a drunk mother at home, failing grades, no dad to help out, only maybe one friend when they used to have millions, their dog just got ran over by a car, and only have a cat to take care of (besides the drunken mother).
“Is it your mom again?” he asked, realizing I wasn’t going to say anything back to him. “What did she do this time?”
I sighed and looked back up at Quade.
How does he know what I think about? I seriously think he can read my mind…
“She let my dog get hit by a car,” I grumbled with a blank expression on my face.
Quade’s eyes widened. I could tell he was appalled by my statement and the way I said it.
“She did what?! Poor, Sam… that dog lived a good life.”
“Yeah well… I haven’t talked to my mom since then,” I replied under my breath.
Quade sighed deeply and shook his head.
“Maybe you should try talking to her? After all… she is your mother.”
My eyes widened.
“What?! Are you insane?! Have you finally gone mad?!” I cried in a squeaky voice. “Me talk to her about it? She should come to me and talk about it!”
Quade sighed again. He rolled his eyes at me and stood.
“Alright, alright. Don’t get your panties in a bunch. Just let me know when you’re done drawing so I can take a look,” Quade said as he walked away.
I sighed and went back to drawing the couple who are sitting in the back corner by themselves. They think no one is watching them. But, what they don’t know is that I’m sitting there with my 2B pencil in hand capturing every one of their movements with a swift flick of my wrist.
It was around two in the morning when I began walking home. You never realize how scary it really is until you walk home alone in the dead of the night. You never know what could jump out at you.
Suddenly I heard snickering in the alley next to me. My eyes widened as I heard loud footsteps getting closer behind me. I began to walk even faster when I heard quiet laughter get louder because of my pitiful attempt to get away. I soon was running to get away but; it didn’t help much because soon I fell flat on my face on the sidewalk. When I looked up I was surrounded by tall teenage boys. My eyes widened as I stood. I tried to stop from shaking but it was apparent I was frightened.
“What can I help you guys with?” I asked them trying to sound tough but my voice was quivering.
“You could help us with a lot of things,” said the boy to my left.
They took me under my arms and dragged me into an alley.
Damn London for having so many alleys!! Just when I need to get home and feed that poor starving cat.
One of the boys lagged farther behind the rest of them. He must’ve been a new comer to the gang. He didn’t look like he had ever harmed anyone. One of the tougher boys pulled him towards me. I could tell that they were planning something and I think it had something to do with the boy who was lagging behind officially belonging.
I don’t like the look of this… they look like they were seriously plotting something…
“Come on C-dawg. You wanna be one of us right?” snickered one of the other boys. He looked like the leader.
If I struggle I may just be able to get out of this…
I looked at the two guys holding my arms. They looked pretty strong. I wasn’t sure if I could squeeze my way out of this one. The leader practically threw C-dawg at me. Then one of the other boys threw a switch blade at C-dawg. My eyes widened along with C-dawg’s.
“What am I supposed to do with this?!” he yelled toward the leader of the gang.
The whole rest of the gang including the leader began laughing at him. I thought this could be my chance to get away and I tried to struggle my way out of the two boys’ grips. Let me tell you something…. Never ever, ever try this when the boys holding you in place are huge and have enormous muscles. I tried to get my arms free but the two boys holding me stopped laughing and one pushed me up against the alley wall.
“You trying to get away, honey?” he asked smirking at me. I finally got a look at him face. He was a pretty boy, dirty blonde hair, green eyes, what was he doing with these guys? He started messing with my school uniform. Well let me be frank: he began to mess with buttons on my shirt. I was getting agitated. I just wanted to get home and feed my cat! Is that too much to ask for?!
Poor Hammy…. He’s all alone with my mother… I’ll be home soon Hammy…
The other boy that was holding me dragged C-dawg over to me. The boy in front of me backed away a little but still held me to the wall. He sure is strong! His grip is so hard it’s cutting off the circulation to my arm!
“C-dawg you wanna be a part of our gang, right? Then get to work.”
“What?! You want me to hurt her?!” cried C-dawg. A big look of surprise on his face. He backed away from me. I began to cry. I knew what was going on. I finally realized they didn’t just want him to hurt me.
The leader pushed him into me.
“You’re not just going to hurt her. You know what we mean. We all had to do it to get in,” he said.
“But it’ll hurt her! And look she’s already crying!” C-dawg cried. He began to back away from me even more.
But, the leader pushed him forward. Then he dragged C-dawg over to me.
“Do it. Or you know what will happen.”
C-dawg’s eyes widened greatly. Through blurry eyes I saw him look bewildered. Maybe they had threatened to kill someone he loves. When the leader let go of C-dawg he ran. He ran out of the alley way and down the street. The whole gang swore and ran after him calling C-dawg probably all the swear words in the book. When they were gone I slid down to the ground.
Go home. Go home. Go home. Go home.
But my body didn’t obey. I stood and ran after the gang. I needed to make sure C-dawg was okay. Suddenly I remembered who I was. A vampire. It occurred to me that I could take all those guys at once if need be. I just needed to learn how to do that. I’ve grown to notice that my fangs only come out when I smell blood. I haven’t been able to figure out how to use my vampire strength yet either. This is going to be one hell of a time if I don’t figure out how to be a vampire.
