The first time I heard err… read of this is when the anime is being aired in local air. I liked the anime and wished that they show it too. But I guess at that time Spanish Telanovelas are more popular unlike now that any dramas from any countries are being aired. So when it was shown on GMA 7 the same channel where the anime is aired I was so excited to watch it. Oguri Shun is there too, a more reason for me to get more excited.
I won’t compare this to the anime because to be honest I can’t remember the exact story from the anime. I can’t even remember when exactly it was aired. I’ll probably look for the DVD or something. All I can remember from the anime is that Onizuka Eikichi wanted to be a high school teacher so when he reaches the age of 40 he’ll marry a high school student. This wasn’t emphasized in the live action series. I really wish I could remember more other than that and the girl with blue and green eyes, I can’t even remember her name.
Onizuka Eikichi played by Soramachi Takashi is a teacher that graduated in a third rate college. He is assigned to class 2-4 (2nd year section 4). That class is full of problem students. At first he thought they are nice students but then they started to cause him trouble. One problem from another those students that cause him trouble became his friends that in the end. But the students aren’t only his problem so are his co-teachers. Because of his unusual teaching methods, people think he’s violent, irresponsible and sometimes stupid. However, beyond this, he thinks of his students feelings and often protects them.
The ending, what can I say? It’s good and exciting. I really couldn’t say anything that beyond this cause the ending is really GREAT. And you should know by now that I don’t like spilling any details. I wish I’ve come across teachers like that though. I mean Onizuka and Yankumi. *sigh*
But one thing I noticed is that there are lots of cut scenes in the local air showing and it’s because of the hentai bits. Don’t worry, it wasn’t that perverted. But there are also some scenes that are funny that the station cut. Like when Onizuka invited Fuyutsuki to watch Beach Boys, a Japanese drama in which he also took part of. And the scene where he was reading, he came across the word poison and said, “Poison? Where did I hear that from?” Poison is actually the theme song of the series in which Soramachi Takashi sang. The song suits the series, the lyrics said that sometimes a man should stand up and fight. And the guitar parts of the song is cool that really compliments the series.
Great Teacher Onizuka or GTO is often compared to the anime also turned to Jdorama, and fellow teacher Yankumi (get it? ^_^) of Gokusen. Both teachers both assigned to problem students both know martial arts and both deeply cares for their students. Well of course they have different methods of teaching.
Fact:
In both Jdorama, the Japanese actor Oguri Shun played a part. In Gokusen he played Haruhiko Uchiyama, a delinquent that always participates in fights together with his friends. But in GTO, he played Yoshikawa Noboru a shy student and often bullied by his female classmates that considers Onizuka his best friend. He is so cute no matter what roles he plays! whaaa KAWAII ^_^

Enma Ai was condemned for no reason and became a sacrifice for her town, she took vengeance against them and is brought to hell. But because of this her soul and the souls of her loved ones are captured. In order to release them Enma Ai must become the Jigoku Shoujo.
On its second season, Enma Ai is given one more chance to redeem herself. This time Enma Ai and her dolls are more active in investigating. Also a violet eyed girl named Kikuru with strange intentions started going with them and doing whatever she likes. Though the dolls are getting worried towards Kikuru, Enma Ai chooses for her to stay.
A boy named Kurebayashi Takuya accessed the site after his mother is shot. But because of his father’s teachings to become patient, he refused to use the straw doll and is satisfied in just staring at Enma Ai’s page. His world turned for the worst when he gets involved with a chain of disappearance. The town condemned him of being a Devil’s son. All alone he still chooses not to turn to Enma Ai and also told her to stop taking others request. These events disturbed the dolls knowing full well that Takuya is suffering the same fate as Enma Ai.
This season also explains where Enma Ai got her dolls Ichimoku Ren, Hone-onna and Wanyuudo. There is also a funny episode in this season. I think it’s called the Wet Holidays of Sone Anna. Poor guy though I think he doesn’t mean anything bad but he’s the kind of person that must not bump to impatient people. Yup! Yup! That’s it! Just think, he brought together a group of girls that are a total and complete opposite of each other and didn’t hate one another. I mean I think he’s a nice guy, he just lazy person though…
Again I suggest that you don’t watch the whole thing in, this time I watched it for, 4 days. [I just happen to have nothing to do this couple of weeks, okei?] This also has 26 episodes. The story is good, I mean… e… eto… just watch it ne?

The first time I saw Enma Ai’s character I thought she was cute. Cute hair cut, big red eyes and that flowery black kimono, she’s referred to as the Jigoku Shoujo or Girl from Hell. When I saw the title it didn’t struck me in anyway to watch it. I usually get attracted to an anime just from their titles to actually watch it. But when I saw the DVD I just thought why not check it out.
When I started watching I was dumbfounded. I can see my deepest desire animated! I mean Enma Ai is actually doing what I always daydream about. You know the cruel stuff, scaring them and punishing them like that until eternity. Cruel ne? ^_^ I actually thought maybe I can contact this girl and join her forces. I wonder how her dolls got into her covenant. Hehe… okie! enough about that…
Enma Ai is a girl from hell. She can be contacted through the internet. However the page can only be assessed at exactly 12 midnight. When a person feels he or she has gone to their breaking point from their antagonist they can contact her. When the message in received, Enma Ai will personally give that person a doll with a red string. When the red string is pulled that means that person is officially in contact with her. If that person chooses to pull the string her soul will wander in pain and suffering for eternity when that person actually dies. That person will also have a mark of their covenant at their chest. At the very moment the string is pulled, Enma Ai and her dolls Ichimoku Ren, Hone-onna and Wanyuudo will go into action. These cursed people will be punished until Enma Ai actually brings that antagonist to hell.
Enma Ai’s operation is threatened when a girl named Tsugumi met Enma Ai and started to have visions from Enma Ai. Hajime, a freelance journalist and also Tsugumi’s father, believes that revenge is not the answer, with Tsugumi’s visions he pursues the contacts and tries to stop them. The dolls are also getting a little irritated when he appears and seemed to be always one step ahead of them. Wanyuudo figures that maybe Enma Ai is doing this without her knowledge.
I suggest that you wouldn’t do as I did, watch the whole series in 3 days, that’s 26 episodes people! This is that kind of anime that you should watch one episode a day because the plot of the story is almost the same in every episode. But if you’re a fan of seeing people e…eto… cruel people… very cruel people go to their own hell, like me, then this is for you. I’m cruel aren’t I? ^_^ hehehe…

I never really got to watch this movie on cable. I guess I was busy at that time. My brother got to watch it though and said that the movie sucked. So I checked the net and the same thing, they said that the movie isn’t as good as the first one. But I still went on to watch it. Come on! This is another chance for me to see my prince Tetsuya Fujiwara! ^_^
The story begun 3 years after Nanahara Shuya and Nakagawa Noriko survived Battle Royale. Shuya together with 6 other people formed Wild Seven. Wild Seven is a terrorist group that swore to fight all adults (I don’t think it’s the right term but *shrug* whatever). Because of this BR Act changed rules.
Sikanotonide 3rd year class B was chosen to go through another BR Act. One of the students named Kitano Siori (Ai Maeda), Kitano’s daughter from the first movie, voluntarily signed up for the next Battle Royale so she could forget her memories of her father.
All 42 students are drugged and once they woke up they discovered the necklaces on them. Their sensei Dekeuchi Ryu (Takeuchi Riki ?) oriented them to the new BR. The rules are almost the same from the first Battle Royale but this time they have to go as pairs. If one person dies the person with the same student number will die too or if they get 50 meters separated the necklaces would explode. This time they are given guns and the necessary supplies. But the objective of the new game is different instead of killing each other they have to find and kill Nanahara Shuya (Tetsuya Fujiwara) the said leader of Wild Seven.
The story is all about war, one subject that I really don’t understand. I also thrive for utopia making me go against war and tries to understand why some people sacrifice they’re lives to go through all the bullets. Anyway I kinda understand now why some people think that this movie sucked. It’s because the story from the first Battle Royale is totally and utterly different. But I disagree, the story is great and it went the opposite way from the violent motives of the first movie.

The first time I watched this movie was, I think, 2000-2001. It was aired in a Japanese Cable Channel called Wowow. Since the channel came from Japan there was no translations whatsoever and at that time the only Japanese words I know was Arigato and Bakayaro. I don’t why we watched it in the first place but I guess it’s has to with the gore. Yup! so much gore going on. Though I didn’t understand anything from the movie I somehow knew what was going on. As everybody says, action speaks louder than words. And from that time I vowed to have a copy that has English translation. So couple of days ago I visited this pirated DVD stall in a mall and to all my delighted (thank goodness I didn’t shriek cause that would be embarrassing) I saw a copy of both Battle Royale and Battle Royale 2. I bought it immediately and now that I understood everything, I’m going to write about it. [long introduction, ne?]
The story is about 3rd year class B of Shiroiwa Junior High School. Their sensei Kitano(Takeshi Kitano?) was one of the teachers that was disrespected from that class. After being stabbed by one of his precious student, he left the school. 2 years later the whole class went to a class field trip. On the way they were drugged and brought to a deserted island. Kitano was there that posed as the master mind of the BR Act and choose them to go through the brutal game.
BR Act stands for Battle Royale Act where a group of students are forced to kill each other. They are given 3 bottles of water, bread, a compass, a map and a ‘weapon’. This weapon is different from each other some got guns, swords, poison and other got junks like what Shuya got a pot lid. They also have a necklace around them that they won’t be able to remove no matter what. The game will last for three days. When the third day comes and there is more than one survivor, all the necklaces would explode. As a twist, a couple of student from outside the school is mixed within them to make the game more “fun”. These two students are survivors from the previous BR Act. Kitano announced that these to students signed up voluntarily, immediately these two are feared. Then they were sent out one by one and as soon as one is out the game starts.
Since they are still high school students they have other pressing issue that they have to handle. And this game makes them go against their friends their lovers and their most hated enemies.
The lead character Nanahara Shuya played by Tetsuya Fujiwara (the same cutie ^_^ that played Light Yagami in Death Note) never trusted any adults in his life. In the movie his father committed suicide and is forced to live in an orphanage, where he met his best friend Yoshitoki “Nobu” Kuninobu (Yukihiro Kotani). He is quite popular among his classmates and is trusted by everyone.
Before the game even started Nobu was killed in front of them, demonstrating what the necklace can do, if they ever go against the rules. Shuya swore to protect Nakagawa Noriko (Aki Maeda), Nobu’s inspiration (or crush), he said to her that Nobu liked her. He swore to protect her because he wasn’t able to protect his best friend. Along the way they learned that there is a way out through Shogo Kawada (Taro Yamamoto), one of the students who previously won.
The story is all about trust. The characters are tested on how well they trust each other and how far they would go to protect those that they treasure. This also shows how coercion plays in any situation and how would one act in the face of danger.
