I have been wanting to watch this movie when I first heard of it. Of course I just saw the first Detective Conan at that moment.
The story is set during the time where Conan met and saved Sherry, the woman responsible for making the drug that made Shinichi into a 10 year old boy. A little rewind here, Sherry drank that the same drug after discovering that the drug she made doesn't kill it will only turn her into a 10 year old child. She can so escape the black organization. And since then she's been with Conan as Ai Haibara.
In this story, Conan, Haibara, Doctor Agasa and Ran were invited to a hotel that Honoko's family owned. A party is to be held there in to honor Miss Japanesque, Kotobuki Karen (Natsuki). Just when they arrived in the hotel Honoko is informed by Mimi Kotobuki (Nishio Mari), Karen's older sister and manager, that Karen is being blackmailed. But Karen is confident that she can fend herself from her blackmailer with a knife concealed underneath her dress. So the group went to the ball to witness the event. They were served with food and drinks. Ran thought of informing Shinichi about the blackmail and so Conan seeing that run off to the outside to make a call to Ran as Shinichi. But before he could do that Conan started feeling that he's starting to change also at the same time Haibara was feeling the same thing. When they transformed Shinichi immediately thought of Sherry safety against the Black Organization and called Dr. Agasa to help her out so he can stay to ensure that nothing happens in the event. But the crime was committed and caused panic inside the hotel. The broadcast is shown live and accidentally Sherry's image was shown on TV. Gin of the Black Organization spotted Sherry and immediately went to the hotel in attempt to kill Sherry. Shinichi only have a few hours in order to solve the case, at the same time protect Sherry from the Black Organization and preventing Ran to see him transform as Conan.
The story is as always awesome since this is Detective Conan! But unlike the first movie this story kept me guessing who the culprit is until it is revealed. It's a shame that there's only a few appearance of the Black Organization cause Gin is smart! His deductive skills is the same as Shinichi/Conan, his sharp and observant a total opposite of Vodka, his partner.
The actors is great as well. Oguri Shun reprised his role as Shinichi Kudo and he looked damned cute at it! There are parts though that made me think that this would be better as an anime cause his facial expression is shown as much because of the effects they use when he is in pain. Ran played by Kurokawa Tomoka did a great job as well, she acted as Ran pretty well, when I watch her she acts as if she's Ran and she looked the part too! Kashii Yu played Miyano Shiho/Sherry, she looked so pretty as Sherry but sometimes I think her hair is a wig but it looks good though. Iwasa Mayuko played Suzuki Sonoko, enjoyed watching her she played Sonoko so well and look so much like the anime character. Gin of the Black Organization is played by Sasaki Kuranosuke, I'm starting to become a fan of this guy. He plays his parts so well and I love hating his characters in any stories I have seen. I immediately remembered watching him in Orthos no Inu and 20th Century Boys, he's so cool. As for how he looked, I have to be honest, he looked old for the character and his hair is an obvious wig and why is it white than brown? I think it would look so much better if his hair was light brown or dirty blond. Inspector Megure is played by Ibu Masato, his body suit is really distracting it's obvious that it's not his body. Jinnai Takanori played Kogoro Mori he really didn't have many parts in this story but this time his acting was so much like Kogoro, the shouting when he gets exited... awesome, but still no drunken scene. The kids playing Haibara (Shibata Kyoka) and Conan (Fujisaki Nao) was cute I was just wondering why they were dubbed, maybe thier voices is too high? I don't know it's a bit distracting...
There is one thing I noticed and I think it was cute. If you actually watch Detective Conan the anime you would notice that there are names of items in the story that were changed like Leica is changed to Laica, stuff like that. Well in this movie you'd notice that too and it look so realistic! Look out for the brand name of the alcohol in the kitchen scene!
Title: 工藤新一の復活!~黒の組織との対決
Title (romaji): Kudo Shinichi no Fukkatsu! Kuro no Soshiki to no Taiketsu
Title (English): Kudo Shinichi Returns! Showdown with the Black Organization
Broadcast date: 2007-Dec-17
In case you're wondering why I remember Leica of all things, for some people they already know it's my real name and if you don't know what a Leica is, it's a brand of camera, which I wish I have...
Oh by the way this isn't really a movie, it's a drama special... it's just easier to say movie... ^_^

Toshiaki Nagashima is a biologist who is doing major research on mitochondria. When his beautiful young wife is left brain-dead following a car accident, he secretly extracts mitochondria from her liver cells and begins tampering with them in a desperate attempt to revive her. The mitochondria take on a life of their own and begin seizing control of the laboratory attendants, spawning a terrifying new species that eventually threatens to take over the world.
I only played Parasite Eve 2 cause like always I couldn't get a copy of it also my brother plays PS so much that I couldn't get any turn on it. Enough about that...
Playing the game I expected this movie to be of the horror genre but it more of a love story than horror. There are creppy moments but not really horror. There wasn't any gun shooting either because it doesn't suit the story yet. You can say that this movie is the history of the game? I don't know I haven't played every game yet. And honestly this is making me want to play the game even more (like the previous videogame inspired movies that I recently reviewed).
The story was alright it was a bit slow for me maybe cause I was expecting horror and action and gun fighting. The movie didn't made me wonder that much unlike most Japanese movies I've seen. There wasn't any unleft question or something like that but I'm not saying it was boring either. There were some pointless moments but it could be forgiven. What stuck me most was the ending credits I like that whole flashback thing.
The actors I would say is entertaining to watch. I have no idea why but Japanese women even in that classic style is so beautiful. The acting wasn't bad at all but one thing I noticed is how respectful the dialogues are unlike the movies I've seen recently. It's quite refreshing to watch. I also have to note what I have noticed... was nurse uniform really like that 10 years ago? Cause they look hot in it, I don't mean sexy hot but hot like you'd sweat wearing that. It was long sleeves and a bit baggy. This is making me hate the uniforms I see today. Cause nurses uniform now looked like it was sexed up... but I'm not refering to all nurses uniform of course.
The movie also have some computer graphic effects. I really don't know what CG looks like in 1996 but compared to what it is now I would say it pretty good, simple, clean and good.
The movie was created based of a novel. The novel is described as somber and creppy. This movie goes for more somber than creppy and the game went all out horror than somber. It is said that this movie wasn't that popular when it was released but obviously the game made a much more impact than the movie. I guess someone (Japan or US) should make a remake of this or something.

Another game turned into videogame. Well this one isn't that bad since Onechanbara (the game)'s gameplay is all fights. I have already written a review on that game (but it's the 2nd game) read it if you like...
The story is Aya looking for her sister Saki who she saw kill their own father. She travels with Katsuji a man looking for her sister Asami. As they were looking for Saki they met the leather clad Reiko whose seeking revenge for Dr. Sugita. Aya and Reiko had a little fight but they were by Katsugi. Reiko said that Saki is with Dr. Sugita though Aya never said a word Katsuji explained that Reiko can join them.
Well this obviously didn't follow the story of the game but the video effects reminds me of the game so much. I was waiting patiently for her blood lust move and it was awesome they made it look so dramatic with the special effects added. The girl playing Aya looks great in that costume. Reiko looks the part too except that the gun she's using is a smaller than what Reiko uses in the game. Saki looks perfect, her costume is changed a little though. But I'm thinking maybe thier costumes were based on the first game cause I only get to play the second so I really don't know...
I'm not gonna hate on this movie since the fight scenes were awesome. I just hate the fact that Saki is a villian here. I also would like to point out that though they weren't smiling as much they do smile just a little bit that you won't recognize it but it's there. While we're on the topic of smiling, I wish Aya smiled more at the ending... Oh if you're wondering why Aya have two swords, well just watch the movie that made me wonder as well while I first saw the trailer...

When I saw this movie on Youtube I just wanted to see it. I know it's from a game and my brother said that if it's based on a game it basically would suck but I would always ignore him and just watch it whether I'll like it or not.
The movie is about a girl named Yuki that moved to Yami Island with her father and sick brother. The people of the island seemed untrustworthy. She met one of her neighboor and she was told not to go outside when the siren is sounding. Strange things started to happen, Yuki then discovered a legend that if a mermaid's is eaten they will become immortal. There was a report that a mermaid was caught and was eaten and before the mermaid died it let out a terrible scream cursing the island in the process.
I have never played the game though I've tired to look or a descent copy and I have never been successful on that. I couldn't say that it's good or not but I honestly like the story and it made me scream twice, something that that has never happened in a while. But according to some reviews there are some scenes on the movie that is based on the game (which I don't know of course...).
There are some confusing parts in the movie especially the ending. Is Yuki seeing things or is she being controlled by the vengeful mermaid? Some reviews said that the second game is loosely based on this movie... I guess I'll find out if I play those games. But I do have my own opinion in the story of the game. I just don't want to write it cause of possible spoilers...
But without comparing it to the game I would say it's a good movie. I don't know if it's the video but there are a lot of dark moments that you just can't see that much.

A young woman found a man online and they decided to commit suicide together. Calling on the phone they planned to kill themselves at the same time. But something strange happened, when the girl was about to kill herself something unseen is trying to kill her. Though she has escaped and gotten safely inside the house she was still attacked. Keiko Kirishima (played by hitomi), a brilliant but seemlingly emotionless police detective handled the case. It was her first time on a crime scene and couldn't handle it at first. Though her collegues thinks its a suicide she is not sure. They asked for the assistance of a nightmare detective named Kagenuma (played by Ryuhei Matsuda), a young suicidal man who has the ability to enter other people's dream.
The story is kind of like Nightmare on Elm Street and Suicide Circle combined. The story about dreams are always confusing you don't know where it starts when shown in the story, which confused me a little bit.
Nightmare Detective (悪夢探偵, Akumu Tantei) is a 2007 Japanese horror film directed by Shinya Tsukamoto and released by Movie-Eye Entertainment Inc.
