Moon Child

In the year 2014, Japan suffers a major economic collapse and people are forced to emigrate to nearby mainland China. Three boys are living in a fictional Chinese city called Mallepa. The three boys, named Sho (Gackt Camui), Shinji and Toshi survive through pickpocketing. During a theft gone wrong, Sho meets Kei (Hyde Takarai), a man who looks to be young, but is in fact a vampire.

Several years later, Sho is in his twenties, leading a robbery team together with Kei and Toshi. On one of these robberies, against a criminal gang, they meet Taiwanese man named Son (Leehom Wang). Son is attacking the gang because the gang leader raped his sister, Yi-Che.

These are the main characters of the film, which goes on describing Sho and his life for several years forward, as he rises through the ranks of the criminal underworld in Mallepa. [From Wikipedia]

Theme Song: Orenji no Taiyou (the Orange Sun) sung by Gackt and Hyde
Duration: 120 minutes
Co written by Gackt

My Review:
The story was alright it was kinda weird that there’s a vampire in a story but I guess without it the story would become just another common story about a boy that grew up into whatever he wanted. One thing I absolutely love in this movie is the gun fights. It was shot beautifully, totally bad ass I must say. Their acting was alright they made me laugh in some of the comedic scenes.

Orthros no Inu

オルトロスの犬

Ryuzaki Shinji (Takizawa Hideaki) who possesses a “God Hand”, the power to heal wounds and illnesses just by touching the patient, is in fact a dark introvert who does not reveal his true self to others. Aoi Ryosuke (Nishikado Ryo) who possesses the “Demon’s Hand”, the power to kill a person just by touching him, is as kind and pure as an angel. When the demon meets the God, a fatal battle begins.

Detective Hasebe Nagisa (Mizukawa Asami) gets caught by the criminals during a deep cover operation. Ryosuke, a man she does not even know comes to save her and she witnesses his “Demon’s Hand” in action. Thereafter she discovers by coincidence the existence of Shinji’s “God Hand” and brings the two together. Little did she know that this would cause great disorder to the world and even to her own life... (from TBS)

I really enjoyed watching this series. It has a little bit of Death Note with it because of the abilities the two main characters possess but it’s definitely more than that. It tackles moral values not just good and evil cause some actions are done with good intentions though the way it’s attained is harmful to others. It also shows how people react to things that majority of us don’t have or what is referred to as normal, like super natural abilities or even diseases.

The way the series is presented was good. The mixture of animation to show the past was a great idea. The actors were great they played the parts well, it was like it was made for them, they really look the part.

One thing that got me thinking is the title. I’m sorry I still don’t get it. I know Orthros is a Greek dog with two heads and was killed by Heraclitus. But why is this series called the dogs of Orthros, I even researched about Orthros but I couldn’t get any other information about Orthros other that what is said in the series.

Shadow of the Colossus

The game is about a man named Wander, he entered the forbidden land hoping to revived a girl named Mono (actually I’m not sure if this is his girlfriend or sister). The gods collectively known as Dormin that resides in the forbidden land, said they’ll grant his wish but he must destroy the 16 idols found in the Shrine of Worship and in order to do that he must kill a colossus representing each idol. With his trusty horse Argo and equipped with a bow and arrow and a mysterious sword he brought from his village, he ventured in the forbidden land in his quest to revive Mono.

The game is considered to be a puzzle game where you have to figure out what is the colossus’ weakness and exploited to win, but that’s about it. I think the only two things that would test you in this game are quick response and patience. Life isn’t a problem in this game, you can easily restore life by touching idols stattered in the forbidden land, eating fruits and by simply resting. The only way you’ll die in this game is ignoring your life gauge and falling from a really really high place (falling from a colossus isn’t considered as a high place, I don’t know why but Wander survive every fall from a colossus), falling to water isn’t gonna help you either if you jump from a high place (believe me I checked and it was fun throwing him around ^_^). There weren’t any enemies besides the colossus, so throughout the game you’ll only fight 16 enemies and that’s it.

One thing I like in this game is the massive land. The land is separated by a mountain range on the north and a massive body of water in the south and east (oh I tried swimming out of that place and all I get is get washed back to shore). Though this land is so big and there are a lot of ruins, lakes and other land formation you’ll never experience a loading screen, you’ll only see this every time a colossus appear and that’s about it and it’s very brief. I actually don’t mind getting stuck in this place but I’ll definitely need a horse or ATV that doesn’t run out of gas and doesn’t break. Yeah I like that land...

The ending is alright, it was a little sad but it’s good.

I hear and read somewhere that this game could be made into a movie. I wonder how they’ll do it. Hearing that information makes me wonder how they’ll translate it into a movie. I bet there’s going to be a lot of green screens, it would be wonderful though if the production is like in Hell Boy movie but that would very expensive. Since the movie isn’t out for a really long time, watch this video it’s funny ^_^.

Bloodrayne

Is it true that movies that a based on videogames suck?

The story is about a dhampire (half vampire, half human) girl named Rayne. Her life’s mission is to kill her vampire father whose trying to control the world.

I actually don’t know anything about the game but I had a little idea since I watched this and my brother also shared his little knowledge about the game. I must say though that this is the most awkward movie I’ve watched with my mother. You see I watched the Unrated Director’s Cut and I should have been warned more though cause I didn’t know there’s going to be lots of gore (I actually don’t mind the gore), lots of nudity and a sex scene. Yeah I just have to fast forward, I don’t mind watching the whole thing but my mom is in the room. *sigh* What! my TV is busted so I’m watching it in the living room...

I actually didn’t feel that I’m watching a vampire movie cause there’s only a few scenes that involves biting and sucking cause she only drinks from animals and other vampires. And the ending is a little weird, I didn’t understand it at all... Over all I didn’t enjoy it, I just like the gore part... it was awesome!

Final Fantasy XII

First of all I must that I’m such a loser for not playing this game before I mean this game has been sitting in our shelf for almost three years now...

The Story:
As much as I want to say “it follows the story of...” well it didn’t. Ok maybe it does but the story isn’t totally about him. The story starts with you playing a young teenager named Rex. He is a soldier that chooses to fight after his parents died. He still a younger brother named Vaan. But you won’t be playing this character but his young brother cause he died after learning the basic control of the game. Vaan became a thief when his brother died and dreams of becoming a sky pirate.

The Gameplay:
The battle isn’t like the previous games where there would be a battle ground scene. The battle is like those in online games. (I’m sorry I’m not that much of a gamer that I have no idea what is general terms in games, I just really like to play RPG!s ^_^) The leveling in very different too, in every battle you’ll receive EXP (experience points) and LP (license points). Just like every game when you receive EXP your level is gonna go up but that’s about it. You’re skills, abilities and ability to equip high level weapons would be the same. In order to unlock these you have to use your license points which makes things a little complicated.

You remember that I said that the game is like online gaming right? That would be hard to control your characters and give them commands all the time! That’s where “gambits” comes in. Gambits are acquired by buying them or getting them in treasure chests and maybe in hunts. These are control for your characters to make them automatically move during battles with certain commands. Example when one of your characters is about to die, any characters that have a gambit for healing would automatically heal them.

The Graphics:
One word that could describe the game’s graphics: AWESOME!!! It’s like watching a full 3D film. I know some of it is full 3D but there’s also those usual videogame graphics but it’s equally awesome!

My Verdict:
I like everything in this game except the story. The story is very common and the ending is too predictable. But I must say I love the graphics so much!!! Oh and one more thing the dubbing is cool! I fell in love with Balthier’s voice it’s so manly and sexy! His voice reminds me so much of Antonio Banderas’ voice in Shrek movies except hotter! This is the first time I fell in love with a voice! *faints*I even researched about Gideon Emery. He’s british, an actor and of course a voice actor. (he had a role in CSI: NY I am so gonna be on the look out for his appearance, and I started watching “middle man” hoping to also catch his appearance there too!)
