For those who don't know about it, I'm running a challenge currently on here that ends next month - "Bygone Days" Challenge main page
The reason I'm pitching it here is because it's getting semi close and there's no entries and comparatively not that many watchers...so while there still is a bit of time before the deadline, I'm getting a little nervous that it's going to bomb and end up with no entries. >____>.....so hence the reminder lol....
Hope to see some submissions in the coming weeks. :)
Yeah, so pretty obvious no one is seeing/interested in the "glass slipper" event (kinda figured it'd be that way, but decided to give theOtaku some love and hold the even here first)
So because of the inactivity, I've closed it a day early (it was going to run until tomorrow)
Just a reminder, I'm still looking for a Light-haired, young, feminine type character to draw for a commission example.
this event will expire Monday, with the title of the event Advertisement being changed to "CLOSED" at that point I will continue my search elsewhere than theOtaku.
see the description of the event "advertisement" image in my portfolio for more info if interested.
...um...okay so it looks like theO is having MORE issues...I dunno...has anyone else noticed a great deal of lag in the submission of new images??
it used to be I'd submit a new image, and within a few minutes it would show up on the front page of my portfolio, and I could also then go and see it in the new submissions for fanart if I was quick enough on the main fanart page.
that doesn't happen anymore...it now often takes a few hours or so for a new submission to show up on my main portfolio page (but often will show up if one views my fanart section separately, thus preventing any portfolio-skimming visitors from seeing any new images for that same amount of time.)
and the same happens with the fanart sections main page, it will not show up in the "freshest" section of the main page, even when there have not been enough newer submissions to bump it off the main page yet, but once again, it does show up a lot of times if one clicks and specifically views the entire freshest submission category...
have they become really understaffed here or something? did a bunch of the people in charge of approving and moving along submissions get canned or quit all of a sudden? or has there been a crap load of technical/performance issues spring up in the past few months?
because to be honest, the volume of submissions coming in really does not seem to have changed much as all, it's comparatively low-volume as ever, it just seems that the approval/updating process has suddenly slowed up really bad lately...the only thing that I can fathom as to why that's happened after so much time of running rather nicely is that they've lost manpower to review and approve incoming submissions, or that their virtual/mechanical power is having difficulty, bugs, etc.
so yeah I'm just wondering if anyone else is noticing any changes similar to these in the past couple months or so...I don't remember it being like this before, so it's weird... >___>...
EDIT: Event is OPEN accepting now accepting applicants via PM! read the details in the image description of my ad image here for details on requirements - http://www.theotaku.com/fanart/view/367562/%2526quot%253Bglass_slipper%2526quot%253B_event_ad
to those who watch me and keep track of these posts I am opening a new event, looking for a particular type of OC to draw and then use the image as a quality example for commissions I am thinking of doing on deviantART.
I'm going to the other artists around me because I'm drawing a blank on coming up with a random design myself, so I'm basically seeking a "reverse request" sort of thing.
I have a specific idea of the type of character I want to draw - the translation of that notion being the "glass slipper" - but it's difficult to put into words, I'll only know it when I see it I think, so I'll be seeking applicants with their characters and then choosing one I find suitable and drawing art of them that their creators can then resize, use, and repost as they wish (only condition is I get credit for the actual drawing of the picture)
this is just a heads up, mainly to get the word out a little more at least among my watchers and people who happen across my portfolio page, the event is not open yet, it opens when I post the ad image, so keep an eye out if you are interested.
