Welcome to Bootleg News Reporter
A world dedicated to anime, manga, and Japanese news found on the web, so you don't have to go to more than one site.

Since the news being presented here is from other sites, they are not my original work and all credit goes to the original author. I'm really bootleging information, thus this world's title.

Ok, I finally made a background^^ but I'm still tinkering with the header banner though. If you have ideas about the Bootleg's design, please let me know.

Live-Action Higurashi Film Sequel in the Works

1st live-action film based on mystery visual novels to open in Japan on May 10

The official website of the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni anime has announced that the sequel to the live-action Higurashi film is already in the works — even though the first live-action film will not open until May 10. Like the anime adaptation, the films adapt 07th Expansion's Higurashi no Naku Koro ni mystery visual novels about murders that coincide with an annual festival in a quiet rural village. Ataru Oikawa (Tomie) directed the first film, and Kenji Kawai (live-action Death Note, Ghost in the Shell) composed the music. The trailer and other videos for the first film are available on its official website.

I'm going to post the official website, for those who know Japanese,

For those who do not know what Higurashi is, let me show you this psychotic clip taken from the anime. It has the haunting tunes of The Real McCoy. Now I have you interested.

I had been waiting for someone else to jump on this, but whatever...

An American anime fan has gone missing in Japan recently after going to Japan on a one-way ticket without really telling anyone. 21-year-old Skye Lynn Budnick was last seen April 7th in Noboribetsu, Hokkaido near an inn. Her family has flipped out, going to Hokkadio and searching for her. Her travel itinerary and a composed (but not sent) suicide note was found in her email account days after she went missing. She supposedly had only her laptop and about $800 (82840 in yen, which we all know isn't that much).

This is a sad event, since this was an otaku just like you and me. She was a member of Central Connecticut State University's anime club and went to school there as well. She was an anime fan since middle school and was the quiet loner of the group. I'm sure we've all known someone like this, or are even like Ms Budnick ourselves. It is assumed, though not confirmed, that this behavior might have been linked to academic difficulties, being as she supposedly only stayed in school to participate in anime club.

Even though I know most of us aren't in Japan at the moment, these are the numbers to call if you have a tip: The United States Consulate in Sapporo (011) 641-1115 (from overseas, call 81-11-641-1115).

Maid in the USA - A Visit to Royal/T

Welcome to Royal/T, LA's first Japanese-style cosplay café. Partly inspired by the dozens of maid cafés in Toyko's (in)famous Akihabara district, Royal/T serves as a café, art gallery and retail shop, each space infused with the sensibilities and eccentricities of modern Japanese culture. The walls of the café are lined with the work of some of today's most sophisticated contemporary artists: Takashi Murakami, Yoshimoto Nara, and Hideaki Kawashima, just to name a few. The gallery space boasts an impressive private collection owned by Susan Hancock, the owner of the space and brainchild for this eclectic experience. The collection includes pieces from all the above artists in addition to other great names like Aya Takano, Yayoi Kusama, and Keisuke Yamamoto. And to tell the truth, it's difficult to tell where the gallery ends and the café begins—especially when you have maids roaming all over the art space with trays of parfait.
They ae located on 8910 Washington Blvd. Culver City, CA 90232
So if you live near that area go check it out!!!

Wicked sweet.

A new bicycle storage system opened recently in Kasai Station in Tokyo.

For 100 yen (1800 yen month pass), all a customer need to do is put their bicycle on a small platform, tap some buttons and the system automatically stores it in a garage designed to hold 9400 bicycles. Retrival of the bicycles takes only 23 seconds. I think it's impressive. *shrugs*
