Beyblade Anime to Return after 4 Years This Summer

The April 8 issue of the Nihon Keizai (Nikkei) Shimbun paper reports that Takara-Tomy is reviving the Beyblade spinning-top game franchise after a four-year hiatus this August, and will sponsor a new accompanying Beyblade anime this summer. Takara-Tomy is aiming for 20 billion yen (about US$200 million) in yearly revenue by next year, and will improve the new tops by making them out of metal instead of plastic.

Slayers Revolution Manga to Start in Dragon Age Mag

The May issue (released on April 9) of Fujimi Shobo's Dragon Age magazine has announced that a Slayers Revolution manga will launch in the next issue (on sale on May 9). Artist Issei Hyōju (Armored Core -Tower City Blade-) will base his work off Hajime Kanzaka's original novels and Rui Araizumi's original character designs from the novel's illustrations. (The magazine is a spinoff from the Dragon Magazine that serialized the original novels.) The ad prominently displays the main characters Lina and Ameria, but also shows Gourry and Zelgadiss.

New Nijū-Mensō no Musume Anime Teaser Trailer Streamed

The official Japanese website of the Nijū-Mensō no Musume television anime series is streaming a new one-minute, 47-second trailer. The trailer first appeared at Tokyo International Anime Fair 2008 late last month. The anime about a female thief will premiere in Japan on April 12.

The story revolves around a female thief named Chico, who is the spiritual successor to the Kaijin Nijū-Mensō (The Fiend with 20 Faces) thief character created by famed suspense and detective novelist Ranpo Edogawa. (Edogawa is a pen name for Tarō Hirai; when written in Japanese family-name-first order, it spells out a Japanese pun for the name of the American suspense and detective author "Edgar Allen Poe.")

Detective Conan's Guide to Politics

The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently released a pamphlet explaining the upcoming G8 (Group of Eight) Summit in Hokkaido on July 7th. The catch is, they "hired" the cast of "Detective Conan" to help out.

The G8 Summit this summer is going to have representitives from eight countries (obviously): Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States. Together, these countries represent roughly 65 percent of the world's economy and come together once a calendar year to discuss important matters, such as security, economic growth, wether or not they're going to let China in the club, so on and so forth. Japan has really been preparing for this summit, even conducting anti-terrorist drills. The Land of the Rising Sun is getting pumped, that's for sure.

The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also developed another guide using Conan and crew to explain their job to children with another pamphlet and some manga pages, so Conan is already somewhat accepted as a Ministry spokesman.

It's "Geass", not "Gay-Ass"

((Why I ended up posting this on one of my personal worlds originally instead of this one, I'll never know.))

So you guys know there's a Pizza Hut division over in Japan, right? Well, now that you do, I've just caught wind that they've got this new promotional thing that whenever you get a medium pizza delivered, it comes in a Code Geass: Lelouche of the Rebellion R2 box, plus a personal wallpaper giveaway. Also, to make it even better, there's some sort of drawing in which the grand prize is a signed pizza box and script, both signed by Geass big-wigs.

Only in Japan, folks.

A Live Action Hellsing Movie To Be Made?

This information was pm to me by marajsky.
Whether it’s legitimate or not, is still in question. Even though there is this video floating around, there is no hard proof that I found that this could be true.

Here’s the site marajsky gave me:http://community.livejournal.com/hellsing/1179915.html

From this site they have a quote from the director, but what I don’t get is that they never say the director’s name. Here’s the quote:

"This was produced several months ago as a spec teaser to get the greenlight from Japan. As of this point, production is moving forward and I will be directing it. My company is not producing as I was pulled on by an established production company who has already produced comic-to-film adaptations.

To answer your other question, this focuses on Seras' origin story and her entry into the Hellsing Organisation and it will be shot in England. I can't say who we are casting as the lead, but she looks exactly the part and everything about the story is as true to the originating material as can be. It will be very dark and gritty, mixed between something like the Russian film Night Watch and the ** rabble :robotmad: ** feel of the american film Constantine.

My goal is to make this very real feeling, and to ground all that seems unbelievable in some sort of reality. You'll dig it, I promise"!

Theres also a new British T.V series currently shooting for a September release on ITV called "The Last Van Helsing".

"6 x 60' supernatural drama series for ITV1.
‘In-humans’ – supernatural entities with freakish powers – are on the move and the only one who can stand in their way is Luke Forsythe. Luke is a normal, everyday 17-year-old Londoner until, one night, he wakes up to find a mysterious stranger raiding his fridge.

Philip plays CIA operative Rupert Galvin, a "larger-than-life" American with a "tragic past and a zero-tolerance policy to the rabble of mythical half-life entities" in the as yet untitled new ITV1 drama series. The drama, currently known internally at ITV as the "untitled Van Helsing project", will put a "contemporary spin on the legacy of Bram Stoker's Dracula" and be set above and beneath the streets of modern-day London. Philip's character will appear in the life of his teenage godson, Luke, played by Robin Hood's Christian Cooke. Luke's father died in mysterious circumstances and afterwards Philip's Galvin is "catapulted into a world of vampires, demons and zombies". The Office's Mackenzie Crook will also appear as the evil Gladiolus Thrip, a sinister vampire with a burning hatred for the Van Helsing lineage. "There are supernatural forces of evil at work and it is Luke's destiny, as the last descendent of the Van Helsing line, to smite the half-lives that stalk our streets," ITV said. The drama will be made by Elisabeth Murdoch's independent production company, Shine, which previously made Sky One's supernatural series Hex. It will be produced by the team behind Hex - Julian Murphy and Johnny Capps - and written by two writers from that show, Peter Tabern and Lucy Watkins, as well as Hotel Babylon's Howard Overman. The six-part drama was commissioned by ITV director of drama Laura Mackie. It is currently filming in London with an ITV1 transmission expected later in the year".

New Dragonball Movie Pics

For those of you that don't know, there is a Live Action (American-made) Dragonball movie in the works. They finished shooting last week, and are now in the processes of Post Production. The first pictures were released this week, but they might be gone soon.

See all of the pictures here. EDIT: The pictures have been taken down at the request of the studio. Unfortunately, this was the only one I saved. Sorry if you missed it.

The movie is directed by James Wong, and stars Justin Chatwin as Goku who must collect the dragonballs before Piccalo (NOT an alien) played by James Marsters gets them so he can do some unconceivable, yet generic evil to the world. And yes, James Marsters is the guy who played Spike in Buffy. James Wong has directed "The One" with Jet Li and "Final Destination 3".
