Death Note has arguably so many personalities that the show is a whole character in and of itself. It's pretty tricky for me to pick a favorite one from Death Note as the play has no shortage of fantastic personalities. Check out this page for more!
Here's the top 5 death note characters list that make the show so good! And these are five of my favorite death note characters, ranging from "Great, they had an influence on me" to "Wow, their brilliance stood out!"
Ryuk Death Note:
Light Yagami indirectly receives Death Notes from Ryuk, a bored Shinigami Realm. By knowing someone's name and face, the person in possession of this notebook has the power to kill them just for the sake of fun.
Ryuk's appetite for amusement is satisfied when a young genius, Light Yagami, finds the note and utilizes it to get rid of the world of evil and injustice.
Mello Death Note:
Mello, Eldest of Ls two successors, whose original name was Michael Kiehl, was raised in England at an orphanage in Winchester named Wammy's House. Throughout his life, he strives to succeed Near.
In response to Roger's request that Mello and Near capture Kira together, Mello objects, citing their differences. However, after L's death, he relinquishes the position to Near and ends up joining the American Mafia to hunt Kira down using criminal tactics.
Most of his actions are motivated by his desire to surpass Near. Blond hair, extravagant clothing, and always carrying a candy bar around are all characteristics that make him stand out.
L Death Note:
L, whose real name is L Lawliet, is one of the main antagonists in Death Note and a world-renowned detective tasked with finding the mass murderer known as Kira.
His habit of wearing shoes only in public and taking them off immediately after he sits down, accompanied by his messy appearance and playing with candy or fruits, causes people to question his position as L.
Watari, his manager, is the only person who can contact him directly since he lives alone in solitude. L suspects Light's true identity from the beginning. Despite his righteous suspicions that Light is Kira, he cannot confirm his suspicions about Light due to his death.
Near Death Note:
Near was raised in England in Wammy's house, Watari's orphanage, Winchester, England.
He was the younger of L's two successors. Near, who has been investigating Kira, the mysterious serial killer that uses the Death Note to murder criminals. He begins his investigation four years after L's death, gathering evidence for over a year.
As the true successor of L, Near presents his findings to the President of the United States. Eventually, Near steps into the role of chief of the Special Provision for Kira and continues the hunt for Kira; after contacting "L" (Light Yagami), Near starts to suspect that he may be the same as Kira.
Misa Death Note:
Misa Amane eventually became the Death Note owner and the second Kira. She started pursuing the man to say thanks and offer him her help because he had killed the murderer who killed her family.
She was able to see the lifespan and names of everyone around her except the Death Note owners because she successfully made a trade for Shinigami Eyes. Misa realized Kira's true identity and devoted her life to helping him.
