I've still been thinking about this and writing down some notes, too. I thought I'd share some of what I've jotted down, but I must warn everyone to pay attention to that line in my intro: "less-sustained writing". In other words, these will largely be fragments, disjoint paragraphs, and even asides. No paragraph strictly follows from a preceding one, but they're not entirely disconnected. I've numbered them, but the numbers shouldn't be read as always following an order. They're mainly there if anyone wants to clearly refer to one of them. Again, these are largely informal thoughts that haven't been fully worked out, so don't be surprised if you see some tension between various thoughts. Lastly, I focus more on greatness than I do on favorites. I don't intend to debase or lower the latter term, but to try and show how the two aren't exactly the same.
