The Twilight Crystal Chapter 1

Yeah, even though I'm not getting any feedback probably because I can't post chapters up one at a time, on the main page... so I'll just continue with this until I either complete a short story and post it up. So anyway, this is my newer series called The Twilight Crystal. This Book features a young boy named Rilros Remat, he is a normal kid who lives in a world call Grissh. Oh, It'll just explain it self in the first chapter... so... STORY TIME!

Chapter 1
The Tamer Returns

A bang in the night shatters the silence of a peaceful small village in the Trackin Mountains in the Rock Region of the world Grissh. All of the startled villagers opened their flaps of their small shacks. All of the men walked out with their weapons like scythes, swords, scimitars, and etcetera. A bright light suddenly erupts from the crater making everyone squint and suddenly a huge terrible monster crawled out of a medium sized meteor. It let out a terrible roar that made all of the villagers cover their ears.
“Well villagers, I am Tineg. I’m just here to… Well take over this world!” The monster said, stepping into the moonlight. He had a giant spherical head but was flat on top, there was two slits under the flatness in the slits were two red eyes that shimmered in the darkness there were two cat like pupils showing too. After the head were many tentacles each having a special “claw” if that is what you could call it. A few had pincher type “claws” others had a drill type “claws.” “Now, surrender all your valuables to me!” Tineg glared around.
“No, we need our treasures and money to support our families! You probably didn’t notice this alien man but this village is called the Village of All Beginnings!” A man that had black hair and green eyes and was very muscular and was about the age of twenty ca-lled up to Tineg. Tineg turned his eyes to that man whose name was, Ghale Monstrcatch.
“You dare confront me puny villager?” Tineg said glaring at Ghale.
“No, but our families are just beginning!” Ghale yelled up and pointing out the many pregnant women.
“Give me your valuables!” Tineg repeated, “Before I have to do something… Unfortunate.” The village was quiet, “Fine, monsters of the dark abyss come forth and wr-eak havoc on this world of humans that do not deserve to live!” Tineg then walked into a portal that suddenly appeared. Then all over the world portals of monsters from the realm of all shadows appeared especially in that village a mass amount of portals appeared sen-ding many monsters to slay that entire village.
Ghale though didn’t give up easy, he and all the men in that village fought valiantly. They triumphed over the monsters, but did Tineg give up? No, no he didn’t he still tried to rule. Ghale then studied magic from the world’s greatest wizard, Rilen; Rilen was a wise wizard who have lived for many years. Supposedly many monsters have come from met-eors, the nether realm and many other shadow realms. But Rilen was the only person to ever conquer one and he knew a spell that would allow you to capture monsters and use them as your allies; “The act of capturing monsters and using them as your allies is called ‘Taming’ and the people who do are called ‘Tamers’” Rilen explained to Ghale. Rilen never used it, but gave the knowledge of capturing monsters to Ghale. Ghale thus became the first ever Tamer. Ghale then tamed a group of powerful monsters and successfully defeated Tineg. Even though Tineg was defeated the monsters kept appearing and no one knew why.
That was over 1,000 years ago. Now a new story is about to un-fold one of an un-expecting fourteen year old boy named Rilros Remat. Rilros was a normal fourteen year old boy, going to his school to learn about the history of Grissh and many other classes like Mons-tology (the study of monsters) Math and P.E. since Rilros was a strong boy he aced P.E. with flying colors and also Battling Rilros’s weapon was a whip he loved the whip. He was a popular boy that had a dirty blonde hair color and blue eyes he wore clothes that were traveling clothes with many pockets on it. Over the shirt was a black colored jacket, and he wore jeans all the time everyone wore those kinds of clothes but he was part of the royal family very high classed. Rilros was also a very smart kid he has aced every class, there was one subject, History, which really caught his attention. His class has recently learned about Ghale how he was the first tamer and since then there were many Tamers, but none of the Tamers had to go through the trouble like Ghale did. But something was strange there was no tamer for this generation of the human race. That really confused Rilros.
“Hey, Rilros!” Rilros’s best friend, Tanok called to Rilros from across the hall after History class, Tanok was the same age as Rilros and had black hair with green eyes he wore a plain blue shirt. “So I’ll see you after school at my place right?”
“Yea, so what are we even going to do at your house?” Rilros asked closing his locker and starting to walk to his next class.
“Hmm… I don’t know maybe go exploring the forest near my house maybe we’ll run into some monsters.” Tanok said hopefully.
“Yea and maybe we’ll discover the Tamer,” Rilros said sarcastically. “You know monsters don’t live near civilization.”
“Hey, enough of your sarcasm I can hope can’t I?” Tanok said lightly punching Rilros in the arm.
“Ok, you can well this is my Monstology class see ya at your house.” Rilros said walking in. Today it was normal boring Monstology class, but today Rilros’s class learned about the Ultimate Beast it supposedly lives on a far off unknown continent called Reshons. The bell that ended that class sounded so good, because Rilros’s favorite class was next, History (Rilros’s school needed to have two different periods of history for the distract to keep giving them Guk, the worlds money source.) Today the class learned about the most powerful artifact called the Twilight Crystal it is placed somewhere in the world in a mag-ical cave called Twilight Cavern. The bell rang which meant today was over and the week-end was here.
Rilros ran home put all his stuff away and started walking over to Tanok’s house which was a few miles away. Rilros always carried his whip just incase some rabid monster came by and started attacking him or worse attacking his friends. When he got to Tanok’s house Tanok’s mother made them a huge array of snacks for them to eat. After that indulgence the two started to walk through the forest.
“You know how this school year is almost over?” Tanok asked plopping down on a sandy beach which Rilros and Tanok found one day they were exploring the forest.
“Yea why?” Rilros said sitting down next to him.
“Well next year I may move to the Rock Region… This will pretty much be the last time we’ll be able to hang out like this.” Tanok said, since the Rock Region was half way across the world from the Forest Region (where they live now).
“That is not cool, we won’t be able to sit here by this lake and skip rocks into the sunset!” Rilros said taking a flat rock and skipping it across the lake.
“Yea that is what sucks about it!” Tanok said taking a whole handful of rocks and throwing them in the water forcefully.
“You know, that is no way to skip a rock.” Rilros said trying to cheer up Tanok.
“Thanks for trying to cheer me up Rilros, but that isn’t going to work.”
“Worth a try right?” Rilros said getting up and brushing off the dirt that was on his jeans. Then a bush that was near them started to rustle. Rilros turned sharply and pulled out his whip. “What was that?” Rilros asked speaking to nobody in particular.
“I don’t know,” Tanok said turning and walking up next to Rilros. The bushes all around them rustled. This time really made Tanok jump he reached for his sword. “Dang it! I forgot my sword in its scabbard at home!” Tanok said dropping his hands to his side. Vines flew out of the bushes Rilros stopped all the vines heading for him, but Tanok who was defenseless got caught and pulled back in to the bushes.
Then out from the bushes walked a monster. It was a Treeser a monster that was common to the Forest Region, but they were usually peaceful monsters. “Why are Treesers here? They are usually peaceful! They never attack humans. Something must be controlling them.” Rilros thought. “Monsters! Why are you attacking humans?” Rilros asked in his most heroic voice he could make. Tanok started laughing at him though.
“Because…” A voice from faraway said, “I told them to! The tamer is back and that means I waited too long…”
Rilros lowered his guard, “What? You’re saying the Tamer has come?” Rilros called out.
“Yes, you didn’t know?”
“No, I didn’t know; who is it?”
“You, you fool! You’re the new Tamer!”
Shock struck Rilros. Then the monsters looked at him and started to walk forward, Rilros stepped back shakily. Pretty soon there was a ring of Treesers around him, he grabbed his whip with both hands and swung at the Treeser holding Tanok. The Treeser didn’t have time to react and got struck right in the face. It released Tanok and fell back and a puff of purple smoke signaled that it was dead. The others saw their ally die and came after Rilros and Tanok. Tanok also used his fists as a weapon but his sword skills were better. A Treeser charged toward Tanok, Tanok jumped up and came down on top of the Treeser with his feet crushing the monster and killing it.
Rilros struck a Treeser that was near him with his whip it didn’t cause much damage, but made it wobble back Rilros finished it off by striking it once again right where the weak point of that monster was in the bushy leaves on the top of its head. He fell back and poof purple smoke signaled it was a goner. The fight was over and Tanok and Rilros won.
“Wow, good job.” The voice rang out, “I guess the Tamer lives up to the legends.” The voice died down as he finished its last sentence.
“Wow, you the Tamer! Wait till everyone at school hears about this!” Tanok said smiling happily hearing his best friend was the Tamer really made him better. Then a bright light flashed up nearly blinding the two. In front of them stood a frail old man who wore purple robes and a pointed hat in his hands was what looked like a little stick probably used for walking.
“I hear there is a Tamer around here.” The old man said in a weakened voice, “Who is it?”
“Ummm… me.” Rilros said raising his hand; Rilros stared at the little old man wondering who he is.
“Ahhh… so the Tamer is indeed young…” the man shuffled over and grabbed Rilros’s right hand. “I see… well, looks like you’ll need to come with me.”
“Huh?” Rilros said. “Who are you?” Rilros said looking at the little old man.
“I’m sorry I forgot to introduce my self… seems my memory is giving away faster than I thought! Well my name is Rilen I’m the wizard who taught Ghale, the first Tamer. And ever since then I’ve used my magic to check for the current Tamer. I thought the Tamer has seized to exist but then as I was taking my nap today my magic started to go crazy and it showed a picture of you and your friend fighting off the Treesers then I knew it was you. I tried to come to help you out but it seems my magic has gotten old and worn out like yours truly.” Rilen said letting out a little laugh, “So, would you and your little friend care to come to my castle and study on how to capture monsters?”
Rilros was about to answer but Tanok barged in the conversation, “Would we ever!” Tanok looked back a Rilros who was giving him a piercing look. “Of course it is up to Rilros.” Tanok stepped behind Rilros and started to pray that Rilros would say “yes.”
“Well, since it is my destiny to help save this world from utter chaos I guess it wouldn’t hurt.” Rilros said nodding at Rilen.
“YES!” Tanok said jumping up with joy. Tanok ran up next to Rilen and said, “Come one Rilros! We need to get you to Rilen’s castle so you can learn how to capture monsters and help save Grissh!” Rilros walked over next to Rilen and nodded.
“Cover your eyes my boys there will be a bright flash!” Rilen said holding up his staff. Rilros and Tanok covered their eyes and Rilen’s staff started to glow and in a few seconds there was nothing their but some feet prints to show they were there. “You can open your eyes now boys.” Rilen’s voice rang out.
Rilros opened his eyes to see he was on a nice and soft couch. Rilros for a second thought he had fallen asleep on the couch in his living room and dreamt he had been told by Rilen that he was the tamer and he only dreamt up fighting the Treesers but soon Rilros found out he wasn’t dreaming. He sat up on the couch and saw Rilen making some kind of liquid in a pot that he had hung over the fire. “That was a quick trip.” Rilros said walking over to Rilen at a small circular table.
“Yes, because teleportation is a quick way of transportation. But unfortunately teleportation has its down sides, sometimes you can be caught by a Shadow Line which will immediately destroy you and whoever is traveling with you, also you could end up anywhere in your desired place luckily we all landed in my room. Also you can land in any direction your friend wasn’t as lucky as you he appeared and crashed to the floor head first I put him on a couch he is still passed out.” Rilen said looking up to Rilros.
“Is Tanok okay!?” Rilros asked in anxiety.
“Yes, but he needs to sleep this was an eventful day for him being caught by a Treeser hearing Zarkx…”
“Zarkx?” Rilros asked sitting down next to Rilen.
“Yes, Zarkx he is an evil monster who thinks humans are inferior.”
“Oh,” Rilros looked around the room it was a medium circular sized room with windows and some paintings. There were couches doted through the room and on the far side was a door that Rilros thought lead to Rilen’s room. But what caught Rilros’s attention the most was a strange symbol and in it looked like Rilen at younger ages and with him were other people some men some women, but then he looked at the very top of the symbol and saw something that shocked him. It was Ghale, the very first Tamer. Then Rilros realized it was a timeline of some sort showing all the different Tamers that helped save Grissh.
“Who are those people?” Rilros asked pointing to the timeline. He already knew the answer but he just wanted to make sure if he was right.
“Ah, those are the past Tamers.” Rilen said smiling brightly. “So I must talk to you about what you’ll encounter through your journey.” Rilen placed his hand on the table which Rilros now saw it had a star shape on it and Rilen had his hand on the middle of it. The star on the table started to grow bigger and bright and then an orb flew off the table and expanded Rilros’s first thought was to jump up and run out of the room. But he knew that wasn’t the right thing to do, the bright orb covered Rilros and Rilen and in the orb Rilros saw little television type things. Rilros noticed something that shocked him. Each square shaped screen showed him!
In one of the screens he saw himself and nine monsters three were orcs which he realized right away and the other ones he didn’t know what they were. But he was too fre-aked out to remember this stuff. Another one he saw he was in the desert with some oddly colored orcs and two pairs of monsters he had no clue what they were, in the television he saw the camera switch in a behind view of him and barely visible through the sand was a Castle and a wall. This confused him he remembered in History class about a kingdom in the desert that was often referred to as the Mirage Kingdom he didn’t think twice about it. There were some many other televisions that showed different stuff Rilros and his monsters were doing this was too much for him, luckily Rilen saw this in Rilros’s eyes and started to explain.
“Don’t worry young one this is showing us what great adventures await you as a Tamer. This is normal I did this with Ghale and all the other Tamers sure it may seem like a lot but it truly isn’t. Like this one!” Rilen pointed at the one of Rilros in the orange cavern, “This is your adventure that is about to unfold your first one who knows maybe it is something small like stop a monster invasion or something big like saving Grissh…” Rilen was cut short by a loud whine.
“What is that!?” Rilros asked nearly screaming.
“I-I don’t know! This has never happened before!” The table that made the orb started to crack and the whine grew to a screech.
“Rilen!” Rilros was yelling at the top of his lungs. The table then shattered sending glistening rock shards in every direction. Rilros dove to the ground covering his head and neck from the sharp shards. Soon the disaster ended, Rilros hesitantly got up and saw that the dome he was in was now gone and he was back in Rilen’s room. The dust that was thrown up from the ordeal was now settling but was still pretty thick.
“Rilros? Rilros my boy are you okay?” Rilen’s voice rang out, “Rilros follow the sound of my voice. Wait better yet,” Rilen stopped then a huge gust of wind ripped through the room clearing the dust.
“W-what has happened Rilen?” Rilros asked shaken.
“I have no clue I have never seen my table shatter like that while showing a Tamer his destiny and what he must do.” Rilen said going over all the possibilities as what could’ve happened. “Unless,” Rilen dashed over to the rubble of the table. “I knew it. You, young Tamer, have a massively long journey ahead of you it will take you to every corner of Grissh getting monsters to help you out and to stop a disaster of catastrophic proportions! It will take along time to save Grissh and keep it peaceful for many years to come maybe even destroy monsters so nothing like what is about to unfold may happen again.”
“This is a little much don’t you think? I’m only fourteen how am I supposed to save Grissh from a disaster that could destroy it!” Rilros said skeptically.
“I don’t know young one, but what I do know is that you are the only hope to save this world.” Rilros didn’t say anything he was still wrapping his mind around what was about to happen, or maybe, what has already begun. “First young one, I must teach you the technique that will allow you to capture monsters and use them as your allies, this is a very simple task actually.”

In Rilen’s room Tanok was up probably before even Rilros he heard everything how it is up to Rilros to save Grissh and how only he can do it. Tanok probably didn’t want to say it or even tell himself it but he was jealous. Ever since he had met Rilros Rilros had gotten everything from going on dates with the prettiest girls in school to acing every test Tanok was happy for Rilros until he heard he was the Tamer that pushed him over the edge. Tanok secretly wanted to be the Tamer he has always read about the great things they can do and how they can get monsters to fight beside them. Tanok was happy for Rilros deep down inside him but his happiness was being covered up by jealousy and anger. Then he heard it a voice.
“Aww, poor little boy your best friend has become the Tamer and that is something you’ve always wanted to be is it not?” The voice said then out of no where a guy that was about six feet tall walked out. He wore black cloaks and his eyes were a blood red color and coming off from the pupils were black tear drop shapes he had long jet-black hair that went down to his shoulders. He had a muscular build and with the tight black robes on he looked pretty intimidating.
“Who are you?” Tanok said standing up (he was sitting on the wall by the door listening to Rilros and Rilen speak).
“My name is not important but was I right?” Asked the man.
“Y-yea.” Tanok stuttered. “But I have to be happy for Rilros he is a great guy.”
“Yes, but ever since you’ve known him he has taken almost everything away from you the pretty girls the grades, you wish you could be Rilros am I right?”
“I guess, but I’m happy for him.” Tanok repeated.
The man smirked, “Let’s say I know how to make you like him what would you do?”
Tanok looked at him suspiciously, “I’d ask how you could do that.”
“Well all you need to do is come with me, and I’ll teach how to be a Tamer just like your friend.” Tanok got really excited and smiled happily. The man then held out his right hand.
“Okay!” Tanok ran towards the man in the black cloaks and grabbed his hand Tanok felt a pang of pain rush though his body, Tanok ignored this and vanished with the man with no sign he was ever there.

“That’s all?” Rilros asked looking quizzically at Rilen.
“Yes, my boy, did I not tell you it was simple?” Rilen asked smiling a little.
“Okay I think I’m ready!”
“I have no doubt in you! You will bring peace to Grissh for many years to come! I do not know what you must first do but I’m sure like everything else, your destiny will unravel it self to you as time goes on! If I find out anything I’ll get you here in five seconds!” Rilen smiled.
“Okay, better get Tanok and leave. I see it is getting late it is nearly at sun down!” Rilros said. “Where’d you put Tanok when we got here?”
“In my room straight ahead.” Rilen pointed to a wooden door with many carvings embedded in it. Rilros opened the door slowly just incase he was sleeping or something, but he didn’t find Tanok it was like he was never there.
“Rilen!” Rilros yelled out, Rilen ran as fast as he could to get to Rilros and when he did he gasped.
“Tanok is gone!?” Rilen said astonished, “I remember placing him right on my bed and it doesn’t even look like he was there!” Rilen was totally confused.
“Where is Tanok!?” Rilros asked to no one.
“I’m sorry my boy, I’ll send you home maybe he already went home you never know!” Rilen said looking on the positive side of things.
“Okay,” Rilros said depressed.
“Okay, close your eyes remember blinding flash.” Rilros did this and before he vanished he heard Rilen say: “I’ll call you back here when I find something out either about your friend if he isn’t home or what you’ll need to do.”
Next thing Rilros knows he is back home on the beach where he left. Rilros walked a little and collapsed, on the soft grass. One question kept popping into his head: “Where is Tanok?”

Tanok sat eagerly awaiting his master to teach him how to catch monsters and use them like Rilros was learning to do. Tanok asked himself once, “Wonder if Rilros even knows that I’m gone.”
“He probably doesn’t young one, he is probably to busy learning about catching monsters that he doesn’t even noticed you have been gone,” came his master’s deep voice he then walked out of a corner he was standing in. Tanok jumped up a little shocked.
“Were you listening in on my conversation with myself?” Tanok rolled his eyes at himself it sounded as if he was a psychopath.
“No, I just heard you ask that to yourself. Now do you want to learn how to capture monsters?”
“YES! Yes, I do!” Tanok said enthusiastically.
“Then come here.” Tanok walked up to his master and his master held out a sword. This looked like Tanok’s sword he had at home but this sword was black all over not one ounce of silver or steel just all black. “Take this sword and you’ll be able to capture monsters no need for explanation once you touch this sword you’ll never be the same, you’ll know how to catch monsters and your destiny will reveal it self to you.” Tanok hesitantly grabbed the sword and once he did he was over come by power so big that he nearly fell to the ground. After that Tanok was never the same his jealousy towards Rilros took over and was overcome with dark powers.
“This feels great so now, master tell me my destiny!” Tanok then bowed to his new evil master. Feeling great hatred for everything even his once best friend he was a changed man never to be the same again.

The next few days at Rilros’s school were sad ones, most of his favorite teachers were quitting never to come back and being replaced with horrid substitutes. The school’s lunches were worse then normal, but what really brought these days down were not seeing Tanok, his best friend he has known since first grade. Rilros’s grades were also taking a steep dive, too much worrying about Tanok. Also Rilros’s once favorite subject, History, has been becoming his least favorite. His old History teacher quit and was replaced by a long term substitute that was very dull and very fat and everything about that substitute freaked Rilros out. He was so happy there was only a week left of school. Finally after what seemed like an eternity the final bell rang.
Rilros was walking through the hallways when he heard a small voice calling form behind him. Rilros turned and to his surprise he saw it was Sarvina a girl that was his age that had brown hair that went down to her shoulders she wore navy blue shorts and a black shirt that had a strange logo that couldn’t be read. “Rilros, wait up!” Rilros stopped and waited for Sarvina to catch up to him.
“Hi.” Rilros said waving and smiling warmly to her.
“Hi. Mind if I walk with you?” She asked holding her books across her chest.
“Yea, sure I’m juts going to my locker.”
“Okay,” Sarvina smiled and started walking at a slow pace. Rilros did the same. “So what has happened to Tanok?”
Rilros lowered his head he didn’t feel like talking about his best friend who mysteriously had gone missing when they went to Rilen’s castle. Rilros hated to lie, but he came up with one quickly. “Uh, he’s sick, a very bad illness.”
“Tell the truth.”
“I-I-I am!”
“No, I can tell you are lying!”
“Okay, to be honest I have no clue where he is! He just magically vanished!”
“Sure didn’t take much to break you down, anyway you don’t know where he is?”
“Not a clue.”
“RILROS!” Rilen’s voice said ringing through Rilros’s head.
“Huh?” Rilros said looking around to see who made the voice.
“What’s wrong?” Sarvina said looking at Rilros oddly.
“I found out what Zarkx wants to do with Grissh!” Rilen’s voice boomed in Rilros’s head. “I’m teleporting you here!”
Before Rilros could warn Sarvina a bright flash lit up the hall. Since Sarvina and Rilros were the only ones in the hall they were immediately taken from the hall. In only a few seconds Rilros and Sarvina were in the all too familiar room (to Rilros that is).
“Rilros where are we?” Sarvina asked shaking.
