Chapter Fourteen: Homework

~*Miyuki*~

So, he really signed up?
I thought as I played with my pencil. I know he said he didn’t think it would be weird between us, but I’m not too sure. My mother would have a field day if she found out and we would have to rehearse for hours on end together. He was my best friend yes, but even a stage kiss with him would feel very strange.

It was lunch time, and I was walking by the sign up list and happened to glance at it. I stopped and blinked. Where’s my name? I wondered. I pulled out a pen and wrote my name down again. I know I signed up yesterday. Who would erase my name? I frowned. The nerve of some people! I looked and saw Kuori’s name, he was the only one signed up for Romeo too. I sighed. I just know we are going to get the parts, I just have that feeling. I got to lunch, but there was no sign of him anywhere. I took my phone out and quickly texted him.

Did you go home?

Yea I had a 101 temp so mom came and picked me up.

Wow I’m sorry.

What are you sorry for you didn’t get me sick.

I know but I asked you to come to school.

It’s fine I tried but I couldn’t even get past first period.

I’m sorry.

Hey don’t worry about me I should be better in a day or two if I just stay hydrated and get plenty of sleep.

I know. Well I’m going to let you go then so you can get back to sleep. And try to eat something.

Alright I will.

I’ll stop over after school.

Okay.

I closed my phone and shook my head. I hoped he would be better by auditions. I would rather act with him than some of the other people in school.

I left school and dropped my bag off at home, only grabbing Kuori’s homework he had. I was about to go out the door when my mom caught me.

“Where are you going?” She asked.

“Russia.” I said sarcastically.

“Ok, have fun with Kuori.” She smiled. I rolled my eyes and shut the door. I made it to his house and walked in to see his mom again.

“He’s sleeping right now.” She said.

“Ok, I brought his homework.”

“I’m sure he’ll thank you for that.” She laughed.

“When does the husband get home?

“In a few more hours.” She said. “Are you staying for dinner?”

“Sure, why not.” I said.

“Alright.” She smiled. I stood up and quietly went back to Kuori’s room. He was sound asleep and I sat in the beanbag chair that was in the corner of his room. It was nicely warm, and I slid down slightly and closed my eyes. Before I could stop myself, I was asleep.

I opened my eyes and sat up. “Where, am I?” I asked.
“Where so you think you are?” I jumped as I heard a voice. I glanced over and saw Zero, then I looked around.

“Why are you in my room?” I asked.

“Because I want to be.” He answered. I grabbed my phone.

“I’ll call the police.” I threatened.

“Yeah, right.” He came over to my bedside and put a hand on my cheek. “I don’t think you will.”

“I-I will.”

“Do it.” He dared. I looked at my phone and flipped it open. My fingers froze and my heart raced. I had the chance, it was right there. Zero carefully plucked the phone from my hand, and tossed it behind me on my bed. “I didn’t think so.” He smiled slyly.

“Why couldn’t I?” I whispered.

“Because, you know you would regret it.” He gently kissed my cheek.

“W-Why?”

“You ask too many questions.” He chuckled.

My eyes shot open and I sat up fast. I saw Kuori watching me. “H-Hey.” I said.

“Hello.”

“You’re awake.”

“Yep.”

“How do you feel?”

“Bleh.”

“Don’t go to school tomorrow, stay home and rest.”

“No, I’ll go in.”

“Well, just wait and see.”

“Fine. What were you dreaming about anyway?”

“Zero.” I said quietly.

“Oh really?”

“I threatened to call the cops on him and he told me to do it. But I just couldn’t.”

“Oh?”

“And, he said that I couldn’t do it, because I would regret it if I did. You were sleeping when I came in, what about you?”

“Oh, it was nothing.” He said.

“Ok. Someone erased my name off the audition sign ups.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, who would do that? I mean, that’s stupid, if someone doesn’t want me to get the part then they should just sign up themselves.” I grumbled.

“Yeah, did you re-sign up?”

“Yep, and it’s in pen this time.”

“Good.” He laid back down and coughed. I went out to the kitchen after I grabbed his half empty bottle and put some ice in it and refilled it. I went back in and sat down by him and handed him his drink. “Thanks.”

“No problem.” I smiled.

“I hate being sick.” He glowered.

“I know…” I tucked what hair I could behind his ear he blinked at me and I lowered my hands. “Sorry.” I apologized.

“It’s fine.” He looked away from me. “So do you know why you dreamed about Zero? OR was it that you were really tired?”

“It was probably because I was really tired.” I answered.

“So what homework did you bring me? I know you won’t let me out of doing it.” He sighed.

“It’s not that much homework besides you’re one of the smartest boys in our grade so I can’t let your grade drop who am I gonna sit with at the honors banquet if you don’t make it?” I said grabbing his homework off his dresser and handing him the book that he had to read along with the study guide questions.

“Oh my favorite subject awesome..” He said sarcastically.

“If you hate reading then why did you sign up for the school play?” I asked.

“Well I can memorize things easily also I just wanted to spend more time with your if we both got the parts.” He answered not looking up at me and skimming through the book.

“Oh…” I answered my face felt a bit warm.

“Besides you end up having to stab your self with my dagger if you do get Juliet and I’ll already be dead. Just don’t land on me to hard.” He joked.

“Alright I’ll try to remember.” I laughed.

“So are you staying for dinner?” He asked and I nodded. “Sorry that’s I’ve been sleeping most of the time.”
