--It's a special day in Soul Society.
It was an event that rarely ever happened in the Seireitei; the joining of two souls in holy matrimony. Normally, soul reapers are trained to throw away any feelings of jealousy, love, and any other emotion that would get in the way of their work. Although, there are a few that hold on to those emotions. Emiri and Toushirou Hitsugaya were no exception. Hitsugaya, the captain of the tenth squad knew about these guidelines, but he didn't care. Emiri and him were in love and nothing was going to ever break the bond these two had especially the rules of Soul Society.
Emiri walked around her squad's barracks at a fairly fast pace. She was on Cloud Nine now that Toushirou had just proposed to her. She now wore the beautiful gold band around her finger holding her hand out in front of her to observe it. She skipped along happily and rounded a corner unknowingly stumbling into someone.
"Oh..oh I'm sorry!" she said bowing nervously.
The man she bumped into just laughed.
"Someone's sure in a hurry today."
Emiri nodded and smiled.
"Well, run along. I gotta get back to work. Otherwise the captain is going to have my head." he said jokingly.
Emiri just laughed.
"I'll make sure he doesn't..."
"Hahaha..good."
"Well, bye." she said before heading off to find Rangiku.
Emiri went to Rangiku for everything. She just had to tell her about her and Toushirou. After looking around in the courtyard, Emiri found her sitting there on the porch having a drink. She looked as though she was in deep thought. She didn't even seem to hear Emiri running up to her.
"Rangiku!" she called.
It took a few times, but Emiri's voice finally reached her.
"Oh, hello Emiri. How are you?" she said quietly.
"I'm okay... are you? You seem down."
Rangiku just sighed.
Emiri wasn't around when the event occurred, but she was aware of Rangiku's closeness to Gin Ichimaru, who defected into Hueco Mundo, betraying the Soul Society with Sousuke Aizen and Kaname Tousen. Toushirou had told her what had happened.
"Thinking about Gin?" Emiri guessed.
"...Yeah..."
"Aw, don't worry. I know you miss him."
Emiri knew how she felt. She had no idea what she'd do if Toushirou ever did something like that. She also rethought about telling her the news of her engagement. She didn't think it was an appropriate time so she hid the ring under her sleeve, but the timing couldn't be perfect because Toushirou was approaching them. The two girls looked over and smiled.
"Hello captain..." Rangiku said.
Emiri got up and hugged him, kissing him on his head. Rangiku giggled and the two sat down next to her.
"So, Emiri, have you told her yet? I'm sure the whole squad knows by now."
"Knows what?" Rangiku asked curiously.
"Well, Toushirou and I... are getting married!"
Rangiku jumped up, pulling them both into a hug.
"That's great! Boy, will the other captains be shocked about this one."
"Yeah. I'm hoping the Head Captain approves of it."
"He accepted Byakuya's..." Rangiku said.
"That's because he's a noble. We're not of that class. I'm going tomorrow to ask him. Emiri, you have to come with me."
"O...okay."
Emiri never stepped foot into the Head Commander's quarters before. She was a bit nervous. Rangiku put a hand on each of their shoulders.
"I wish you both the best of luck."
Toushirou and Emiri felt a little better knowing they had someone behind them on this.
"Thanks, lieutenant."

The next day, Toushirou and Emiri made their way over to the first squad's office. There, they entered under an escort from one of the squad's upper seats.
"The captain is waiting inside. You may enter."
Emiri and Toushirou nodded and opened the door. Once over the threshold, they went up to the desk.
"Well, what brings you here Captain Hitsugaya?"
Toushirou took a little bow and then spoke.
"Yes, well, I come to you asking for permission to hold a wedding here in Seireitei for Emiri and I."
He nodded over to Emiri signaling that it was her he was talking about. Emiri noticed Toushirou's hand was clenched rather hard so she put her hand in his to get him to calm down. The Head Commander looked over to her and she smiled shyly and bowed.
After what seemed like forever of them being looked upon by the old man, his eyes finally softened and he smiled.
"Of course. I'd be honored Captain Hitsugaya."
The weight on Toushirou and Emiri's chests lifted and they smiled.
"Thank you sir!" Emiri bowed many times.
The old man just chuckled.
"Congratulations you two."
"Thank you." the two lovers said in unison.
After they left the office, they walked arm in arm all they way back to their own grounds. They told the squad and that night celebrated in the court on behalf of the captain's engagement to their third seat officer.

After getting everything in order, the day finally came where Emiri Shuizuka and Toushirou Hitsugaya would become married. Emiri was so happy. She couldn't believe it as actually happening. Toushirou was officially becoming hers. Toushirou felt the same. He took a deep breath and the ceremony started. All of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads were present, including members from Central 46. They stood around witnessing this rare event with smiles on their faces.
Emiri walked down the isle assisted by Rangiku and Momo Hinamori, Toushirou's childhood friend. Once next to her beloved, Emiri's heart seemed to stop pounding. As she looked into his eyes, the world around her seemed to be shut out. The thing that brought her back was "I do." Then before she knew it, Toushirou's lips were on hers sealing their love forever....
