Empty Space...Filled

After he called the psychiatrist, Mr. Norihiro opened his son's bedroom door and told him that he would be visited at noon the next day. Naito just laied still, in a ball, in the dark, in the middle of his king sized bed. The hours passed and at midnight, Neito fell asleep.

Naito awoke at three that morning and made no attempt to fall back asleep. Mr. and Mrs. Norihiro awoke at eight and Trishia woke up at nine thirty. The three of them waited and waited for the psychiatrist to arrive.

Then, at eleven fifty five, there was a knock at the frount door. When Trishia opened the door, there was a man, about the age of twenty with long white hair, brown eyes, and small, sharply shaped glasses.

"Good day," the man began with a slight smile. "my name is Atsushi Kojima. I am the psychiatrist that you have called for." Trisha knoded and led him into the kitchen so that he could talk to her parents.

"Hello." Mr. Norihiro said as he tiped his head. "I assume that you are here to speek to my son." Atsushi knoded, sat in a chair and asked why he was suppost to talk to Naito.

"Well," Mrs.Norihiro began. "my son has been acting very depressed since he was about twelve and he never talks to us. We only hear his voice when he is talking to himself with his bedroom door locked." Atsushi knoded and had Mrs.Norihiro lead him to Naito's bedroom.

After Mrs.Norihiro shut the door, closing Atsushi in, he saw that Naito was sitting in the corner of the dark room, surrounded by about five candles. Naito looked up at Atsushi with his pearcing red eyes and stood up.

"Hello my boy. Atsushi said with a smile on his face. "My name is Atsushi Kojima, but you can just call me Atsushi. I hear that you have become depressed. Would you be willing to tell me what is troubling you?" Naito staired intently at Atsushi then sat back down in the center of the lit, herb sented candles.

Atsushi stood still, stairing at Naito with a blank look on his face. To him, it seemed like Naito had no intrest in talking to anyone about anything that was going through his mind. Atsushi had never encountered anyone like him. He may have treated many depression victems, but none like Naito. Some have tried to make him leave or threaten to harm him, none have ever just ignored him.

"Are you going to stand there like a complete dobe or are you going to start talking," Naito asked, very condesendingly.

Atsushi stood there for a moment, then sat on the side of Naito's bed. As he sat there, Atsushi realised that Naito was acctually burning medical herbs, not just candles. He began to wonder to himself why a boy his age be growing and burning medical herbs? According to the boy's parents, he had no illnesses. Would he be hiding something so important from his own family? Naito notaced Atsishi stairing at him and sighed.

"If you have a question, then just ask me already. I'm starting to get tired of your insecant stairing," Naito said as he breathed in the smoke from the burning herbs.

Atsushi knoded and looked at Naito with a nervouse look on his face, wondering what kind of answer he would receve.

"I was wondering," Atsushi began. Why do you burn those medical herbs. Some of the ones I see you're growing haven't been used for hundreds of years." Naito put down the small, smoking bowl and turned to face him.

"I use them so that my body does not weaken from the lack of sleep i get from my insomnia. If, for some strange reason, I stopped using them every morning and before i go to bed, my whole body will slowly weaken untill it tires out and stops, killing me. My parents don't even know about this and it is completly my decision not to tell them. In any case, if I discover that you tell my parents, I have no problem with killing you." Naito told him, completly emotionless.

[BREAK]
Atsushi remaind silent for a moment, wondering what kind of responce he should give.

"I don't," Naito began. "I don't care if you die. My emotions have all gone away and my tears have all dried up. This so called love that my parents have for me is a lie. They just don't want to look bad. No one has any love left to give me..."

Atsushi knelt down infront of Naito, looked into his eyes, and higged him.

"Thats not true," he began. "The love that you say you can't feel has always been there. The love others have for you is immence. I know because I think of you as one of my own children, and to prove it, I will take you anywhere you ask."

Naito looked it him, wide eyed, and with a supprised look on his face.

"Is that true," Naito asked.

"Of coarse," Atsushi said with a smile. "I have no appointments on sundays so I could come every week if you like. So how about we head out to the Civic Center and play for awhile?"

Naito knoded his head and Atsushi took his and and helped him stand up. Atsushi lead Naito out of his bedroom and into the kitchen where his parents were waiting. Mr. and Mrs. Norihiro were blown away. Their son hasen't been out of his room in months.

"Excuse the intrusion," Atsushi began. "but young Naito wanted me to take him to the Civic Center to play. Is it alright with you if I take him?"

Mr. Norihiro smiled and knoded his head and handed Atsushi a bottle of vitamin water for Naito to drink and they walked out to Atsushi's car.
