I couldn't understand why Io was feeling so awful. Sure there was the possibilty of a virus or infection of some sort, but it was so sudden, and had passed almost imediatly. Already, with the blanket from the very...large...newcomer(did I know him?) she looked ready to continue on the road. She looked well fed, maybe even a little chubbier then usual, and completly healthy.
Making sure she was fine with "Zar," Lucy and Gray, Just in case, I went in search of Sky to tell her of the trouble. I found her not far off in conversation with a few vaguly familiar faces. There were so many halfers in the group now, it was hard to remember names.
"Dani! Glad to see you're O.K." She said, giving my a friendly hug.
"Same to you! Though I can't really say the same for Io..."
She let out a small gasp. "What happened?" It was obvious that she was worried.
"I don't think it was too serious, but she felt ill and threw up a little."
Sky pondered this for a moment. "Is she Ok now?"
"Yeah, she seems fine now. But I think we should spend a night here, or very nearby. We need to make sure everybody has come out of the caves."

After Dani left to speak with Sky, Zar lit a fire and many had gathered to ask him questions. Some were suspicious, some were accepting. I thanked him for the blanket, medicen, and fire and sat next to him in the tall grass. Lucy was next to me and Gray was A little behind us.
With everybody safe, for now, I let my mind wander. My brief sickness earlier was only one of manu instances lately. I had also gained weight considerable in the last 2 months. I kept racking my brain for answers but came up empty. You'd think after a few centuries of life(no matter how much was spent hibernating -_-) that I'd have some idea of what was wrong.
Counting on my fingers, I tried to get a feel for just how long it'd been sing we left the moutain range I used to call home. Ben said it was about four months, but that couldn;t be right. It still felt like yesterday that I was at home in my humble little cave sleeping soundly with Seth at my side.
Wait a second. Seth at my side?
I felt a knot form tight in my stomach as I realized what might be my dilema.
"Io, did you hear me?" a gruff voice interupted my thoughts.
"Hmm?" I said turning to Zar.
"I asked how you were feeling."

A dark and quite cliff side was disturbed by a fierce shake. A natrual scene of forest contrasted against a steep mountain range.
*Rumble**Rumble*
A large boulder jiggled in the scene, immense in size, it looked to be placed there by some careless god in a dark unforeseen age.
*RUMBLE**RRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM**Boom*
Almost inconceivably the boulder rolled back and figure walked out the cave concealed behind.

"FINALLY" I yell against the woods.
First its the damn maze, then its the damn cow (he was delicious BTW), and then the damn boulder, life couldn't get worse.
I crack my neck and walked out in to the light. "WAAAAAAAAAA"I yawned, tired from my work.
I took a deep breath and took in my surroundings. Hmmmm, Canada, maybe?
I took in my surrounding through the scents and sounds. A slight southeastern wind was going through, though this was a rare thing as the wind brush up a mountain that was relatively unweathered on this side. There was deer 2 and a bit miles to the north. A river to the east, plains far to the east. However with all this information one bit to the west troubled me to the west there was a sick dragon, a large pigeon, a bunny and several other VEA's (very edible allies) and... oh, shoot...
Getting down on my paws I rushed to the scene with my massive bulk plowing through the trees.
I covered the distance in no time to spare and jumped over screaming people and a now almost incoherent dragon and landed on a hidden grey wolf. The pack scattered on sight.
After some rustle and tumbling I popped out of the bushes dragging nearly unconscious wolf in one hand.
"Io, buddy", the poor girl looked up. "You look like crap."
I picked up the wolf in both hands and threw it out of the clearing and heard in scamper off. I pulled off my ever present backpack and started shifting around. Blankets, lantern, sleeping sheep halfer, a small amount of money, canteen, ahhh, that's what we need. I pulled out a large bottle of ibuprofen, checked the contents (dragon's are notoriously picky), and then shoved two down Io's throat.
I sat down in front of a tree and rested my back. Everyone was looking at me. Everyone was looking as worn as I was. Some were about my age most a little to a lot younger. All looked hungry.
Figures, I was the only one who had found someonething to eat. Io was probably the only one who remembered me from that whole resort fiasco.
I sighed, knowing my work wasn't done.
"I'm Zar, Brown bear, and while many of you might be very tasty, I'm going to help you."
I pulled out a book of matches and the blanket. Throwing one over the dragon, I called out, "Anyone want a fire?"

Looking about, I couldn't seem to spot Asuka or Ariel. I did however see a few of their friends, and Io.
"Yo!" I called, walking over, "You seen Asuka?"
The four looked up, distracted.
The rabbit chick shook her head and Io answered, "Nope."
"Do you know how long we've been on this journey, Ben?" Dani asked.
"I've been her for about 3 weeks. why?"
"No, not how long you've been here, how long has it been since we were in the mountains where you left?" Dani specified.
"Oh... Uhhh, that was right after found that squirt, right?"
Io, who looked unhappy about my disrespect for her late lover, answered, "Yes Ben, could you just answer the ques-" She abrubpty cut off her words, her face drained of color. She bent over and threw up. Since none of us had eaten in a while, there wasn't much to lose. I'd guess it was just some spit or something. Which was kind of nasty.
"Are you ok?" A worried chorus of four asked, myself included.
"Do I look fine?" she snapped. Standing back up, she said, "Sorry, just not feeling well. Anyway, how long have we been journeying?"
I thought for a moment. "You joined this group about four months ago."
She closed her eyes and looked deep in thought.
"I do think we are close Lucy." I heard the quiet guy say. Trying to take the younger girl's mind off the trouble.
She nodded, looked determined, but I didn't pay much attention to anything they said next.
"Ben!" I heard a voice shout. Imediatly, I looked over my shoulder and saw Asuka.
"I gotta go guys. I hope you feel better Io. Keep an eye on her." I felt kind of weird issuing an order like that to a few strangers, but whatever. And off I ran to meet Asuka. Please be okay, I begged silently.

"Zack!" I shouted, "Thank goodness you're okay!" I tackled him as he ran over to me, and he laughed.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Are you?" I nodded in response, and smiled.
As I took in Zack's appearance, I noticed some things. For one, his once pristine glasses were slightly scratched. His black hair had gotten slightly uneven, too. He had also grown slightly taller, but thinner all the same.
"so," I said to him. "How old would we be now?" Zack thought for a minute, and then began to speak.
"Well, if it's past our birthday, we would be nine!" He said, smiling.
"So, I guess it's a Happy Birthday for us! The group is back together, we have new members, and I bet we're almost to harmony! And when we get there, life will be great." I said excitedly.
"Yeah..... A great life." Zack face was thoughtful, and so our conversation ended on this happy note.
As we got silent, I took in the surroundings. Friends reuniting, happy laughter, and tears of joy.
It was happiness in a nutshell, and I only hoped that it could last.
