Pierce -
I was amazed tht it was Shadow who had spoken up. "He's on their side? After nearly killing him, he's on their side? No, Shadow, I think that's called guilt. Most people face it often. Oh...and, do something bout it? Oh, you bet I will." I rolled my eyes, using the arm that wasn't supporting Abby to give Kai a whole-hearted hug. "I'm so glad that you still care about the people you meet. Keep it up, and never lose hope." And, that was what I was going to say. At least I didn't have to tell him that later. I looked back at Shadow, "Consider it done."
Shadow's eyes flashed with anger, and he drew himself up, tensing and about to strike.
As soon as Shadow reeled back to hit me, I stepped in front of Kai, pushing him back a little, sending Abby back with him, ensuring that both of them didn't get touched in this dispute.
My eyes slipped over to Kai, who was grinding his teeth, his hair fading in from an off-brown-white, and an angry blackish-brown. Trying so hard no to lose control and fight back, and supporting Abby gently as her eyes tried to focus and she yawned. Nope. Not awake yet.
If it did magange to hit me, I didn't quite know what I would do. This was Shadow. I didn't have anything against Shadow, really. Shadow was Ice's Kai, basically. A long lost brother who had been assumed dead. Ice wasn't a bad guy, so Shadow couldn't be much worse.
I would take it like a man, and talk it out when Shadow calmed down, I had decided. I stood tall, ready to be struck, when suddenly, an arm roughly grabbed Shadow's. "Shadow. Cut the act, you know best out of all of us that not all humans are evil." Ice's voice rang out with authority, and, when I looked over, surely enough he was there.
I sighed in relief as he looked over Kai and I, assesing what had happened. His eyes flashed with understanding as he spoke, sighing, and looking directly at Kai, and not backing down even as Kai's eyes faded to black as he began to calm down. "He's been upset sense he learned they took his girlfriend." his voice was commanding, and once more I understood why he was the alpha. At the sound of this tone, Shadow stopped struggling to hit me, or get to Kai, he just settled for glaring relentlessly at the silver-headed octopus who was relaxing, and comforting the confused, dazed Abby.
Nanuke ran up to us, looking thouroughly embarassed at Shadow's actions. "I'm sorry, Shadow's usually not like this," she insisted. "He's usually the one to stand up for humans." she immediately grabbed Shadow from Ice's grip and commenced lecturing, dragging him off away from us. I waved at them, hoping that Shadow wouldn't think I was being saracstic.
Ice loooked back at Kai, and I did, too. I saw him in time for him to smile, "It's alright. I came here expectiing eons worse, over eons less than talking to our kind escort, over there." he smiled a soft smile that had been extracted directly from my childhood as he threw in the word 'kind'. Hell bent on making the man seem like a good guy.
Ice smiled a little bit in return, "So you don't hold it against Shadow?" he asked, clearly relieved.
Kai shook his head, "Not at all, I would be even worse in his situation...Ice, was it?" he extended his hand.
Ice looked a little taken aback, but reached ot ans shook his hand, "Yeah. That's me. Thanks, Kai."
"It's nothing." Kai nodded, looking a little embarassed at being thanked, he looked down at Abby and guided her over to me. "She's waking up more every secong, Piercy. Apparently she woke up when you dropped her on the snow, though. She's been muttering, and she doens't like me much." he smiled sheepishly.
I looked down at Abby, smiling a bit, "Haha, seems inevitable that most wouldn't like you, Kai. Too bad for you." I stuck out my tongue, "But, she's really nice, so I'm sure we can convince her that you're not too horrible."
Our conversation was cut off by a thinkly accented, "'Ey! We're almost 'ere! Ready yerselves, 'cause it migh' not be pretty!"
Kai was the one to call back, "Alright! And you be ready to leave, because if you chicken out, I'll have your hide!"
"Aye, aye! I hear ya, mate!"
I raised an eyebrow as Kai looked back at me, shrugging. "We'd best get ready, then. We probably have less than an hour." he shrugged.

"What were you talking about with that evil guard? Seems like you were too buddy-buddy to be up to any good. Pierce, I think he's on their side. Do something about it." I heard a voice growling ahead.
I had spaced off again and had to look around to see who it was. Shadow was glaring at Pierce and Kai. My steps quickened.
Pierce had retorted by the time I got up with them and Shadow looked about ready to punch him square in the face. Drawing my self up to full height I grabbed Shadow's arm just as he made a move. I stopped him just before he hit Pierce. "Shadow cut the act, you know best out of all of us that not all humans are evil," I snarled. My eyes raked Pierce and Kai, so Shadow had been upset by Kai's actions.
Sighing I looked Kai strait in the eyes. My cold blue eyes locked on his black ones. I would not look away, I wanted to make sure he heard this and understood. "He's been upset sense he learned they took his girlfriend," I said, my voice as commanding as an alpha's should be. The command in my voice met it's mark as Shadow stopped trying to hit the two of them and just glared at Kai with a murderous look in his eyes.
Nanuke made her way up to us, she looked flustered. "I'm sorry, Shadow's usually not like this," she whimpered. "He's usually the one to stand up for humans." Grabbing Shadow she pulled him off to one side and started telling him off in the way only the alpha female can manege.
I looked back at Kai, hoping to start some kind of conversation.

I screamed as a sharp pain entered my leg, and I could feel the blood oozing out. I could barely think as I started to squirm, to trash about. I couldn’t tell much, but by the sounds of it, Prince and Ren had come to rescue me.
All I could see was white spots that cloud my vision—I could barely remember what I was screaming earlier. The throbbing pain in my leg was unbearable, and the fact that I was almost eaten didn’t help me much either.
I didn’t like that I had been bitten from someone who was always a dog, and this place seemed like a likely place to get even more germs in it. I would have to ask Kari for something later on.
Prince had started to put some bandage of sorts on the wound, and then he carried me. HE CARRIED ME! ‘You would think I was crippled by the way he was treating me!’ I knew that this wasn’t a good idea, more so when he touched my butt. “DON’T TOUCH MY BUTT YOU PERVERT!”
He started to argue with me—most of which I argued—and somehow, we still ended up in the same position.
“STOP TOUCHING MY BUT YOU PEDO!”
That seemed to annoy him as he started to shout back. “I AM NOT A PEDO! I DON’T EVEN LIKE YOU!”
A sly grin replaced that angry frown as I retorted, “You like Kari, then,
right?”
“WHAT?! I DON’T!” He seemed so embarrassed by the question.
“Then what happened to your jacket?” I was referring to the one Kari now had—I may be young, but I’m not so stupid as to not notice a jacket that was nonexistent before suddenly appearing on Kari. And, I’m not so stupid as to not realize that the only person with her before then was Prince—who tried to steal my magazine and read what I forced Kari to read—if only Kari were like that. If she was so clam and curious and stupid, then I wouldn’t have had to force her to read the torture magazine.
“I THINK YOU SHOULD PUT ME DOWN MUTT!” I shouted angrily at him.
“I AM NOT EVEN A DOG!” He snaps back.
“BUT A FOX IS SIMILAR TO A DOG, CANINE!” I had him beat, and he knew it…I hoped.
~Kari~
Where they took us, I had no idea, but I knew that we needed to run away, or at least hide from this psycho girl. But we had no escape, no hope unless we were rescued.

Kai -
I threw my shoulders back as I walked, trying not to think about how stupid it was that I had come along to begin with.
What had I even been thinking? Bloody twit! That's what I was! I bit back a growl, because, really, if I made any negative noise at this moment, I would probably be tackled and killed on the spot.
It was Pierce's fault! He had to...too just look at me like that, okay! He just had to forgive me for going crazy and almost killing him! Then mentioning Maki and giving me a reason to agree! How could I say no?! I bit my lip.
I glanced at Pierce, who was constantly glancing between me, the quivering, bruised and bloodied guard-freak who was hesitantly leading the way, and the lithe little girl on his back. This made me muse. She didn't look much younger than Pierce, but was so...small and delicate that she looked almost like glass. She had only stirred a couple times in her sleep, whimpering or moaning sadly.
"Hey, Pierce...Is she sick?" I asked quietly, looking at the softly-snowing sky.
Pierce looked over at me, sighed, then smiled a bit, "Hm? Oh...Yeah. She stayed in the snow too long." he looked away, then shrugged. "But, hey, what'cha gonna do?" he sounded a little defeated as he walked a little faster, looked back at me, and gestured for me to hurry up.
I caught up to him, walking backwards and grinning, "Just a cold? Perfect, I have just the thing!" I dug down in my pockets until I found the little vile I stole from the scientists.
Pierce looked at me curiously, and a little suspiciously, "...And that is?" he asked, a bit of an odd look on his face.
There was a little forced smile on my face as I explained, "It's just something I picked up before I left, in case of emergencies." I shrugged, feeling my irises start to try to redden, and stopping them. "A miricle drug they were giving their brain-washed halfers. It cured anything from a bad cough to a sword through your gut, but they didn't use it much, 'cause it only worked on animals, or halfers. I wasn't fond of it, myself--made me feel like I was cheating the universe--but, it saved many a friend back there...until they found out that we'd been stealing it. But, it was worth having people dear to you around, even if it was just for a few seconds before they...before the inevitable took place." I tossed it at him, and looked forward, focusing my eyes on the snow. "Pour a little in her mouth, and she'll wake up good as new and walking in a few minutes...Then, just keep it. Save it for something special." I added, my eyes glazing over and my hair beginning to turn a depressed, muddy brown at mention of the past. I stopped the emotions before anyone could see.
No sense crying over more of the fallen, Kai. Be strong. Serve the universe only, and don't let them get their final satisfaction. Think puppies. Rainbows. Butterflies. Violence. Yes, happy place.
There was a silence, and I thought that Pierce wasn't going to say anything, but my thoughts were broken by a smooth, gleeful voice, "Really?...Thanks, Kai. It's perfect." I looked back to see a smile that shed all things that were still happy and innocent in this world...for a while, I really wanted Pierce's smiles to stay that way. If there was nothing else in the world to live for, I hoped Pierce would keep smiling. "You can call us even." he declared, giving the...I paused a minute and examined her, opening my scientifically-added senses to see what she was...ah, yes, he gave the bird-girl some of the medicine, grinning up at me after a moment and mouthing, "Thanks so much."
My heart thudded a little, and and my hair slipped to a snow-white shade as I grinned back, shrugging, "Jeez, and here I was so worried that I'd never be able to make it up to you." I joked, then let out the breath I hadn't known I'd been holding. "Anytime." And I meant it. I would help him anytime he needed me.
I glanced at the whitherng man who was leading the way...A pang of pity flashed through me. This little redhead man might be a horrible person who would kill any sigle one of us on a whim, but...It didn't mean I couldn't pity him, did it? He looked so scared...I knew what it was like to be abducted by people you didn't know, and even resented...My hair turned a sad, mousey brown as I walke over to the quivering man, who had been strpped of his jacket, and looked down at him as he flinched, cluthing at his red-welted neck, as if to guard it from me.
My eyebrows furrowed. Had I really done that...God, I was such a prick. I leaned down to his height, and looked at him, "Hey...You okay?" I asked, quietly.
He shuddered, walking a little faster, "...G-Go away...I...I swear I'll show ya the place, okay?...Oh, God...Miss...Miss Vana will kill me..." he whimpered, trying not to meet my gaze.
I bit my lip, leaning down again, "Shh, no, you'll be okay." I took off my jacket and gave it to him, "Here, you must be cold. S'alright, I didn't do anything to it, I was just wearing it." He reluctantly shrugged it on, involentarily giving a little sigh of relief.
He looked suspiciously at me, "...Th' hell do y-you even want? Ya hate me, I hate you, so jus' go away." he looked down, "'M dead, either way."
My hair got browner as I looked down at the poor guy. He looked like a lost child who had been misled all his life and suddenly ddn't know what to think. "You don't 'ave to be...We're not bad people, little one. Once you show us where to go, you can leave. No one is your master. No one but you. This 'Vana' woman...Your boss? If she would kill you, she is no boss for you. Love, live, be free, child."
The man was beginning to walk a little strighter, and not cower so far way, "Where will I go?...I was framed fer murder, mate. Miss Vana...she sed' she'd help me if I'd work fer 'er. I agree'd, an' s'not like I didn't plan on workin' fer her--I'm an honest man...or, I was...But, she used 'er money t' set me free, th' innocent man I was...But, y'see, soon, I saw wha' she was doin'...Catchin' li'l creatures like you an' keepin' 'em as pets...S'not a good thing t' get involved with, mate. Not at all. She sed' I'd work a' kill fer 'er, or I'd be worse than dead.
"I saw wha' she did t' the others who tried t' set 'er 'pets' free...Ya don't wanna rise 'gainst tha', I'll tell ya...She told me...treat ya like dirt. Make 'er seem all th' better when she came round t' gather their 'love'. I just...I jus' don't wanna die, mate. M'so sorry." His eyes were downcast, "'Ow would I expect t' escape s'mone t' whom I owe m'life? S'mone who could take m'life?...I can't fully repent fer m' sins, but I wish ya'd forgive me...Seems like you've got yer up's n' down's, too." he sighed, looking away. "We're almost there, by th' by." he muttered.
I put my hand on his shoulder, "I was right. After we get there, leave. Make your own future, little one. Live a new life, with new people, in a new beginning. You can do it, if you'll try."
He looked over at me, "Why're ya callin' me names like 'm a kid? M'older than you are, mate. By at least ten years."
I grinned a little, ruffling his hair before walking back to catch up with Pierce, "Doesn't matter how old you are, 'mate'. Like a child, you've still got a lot to learn. Best of luck, my friend. Lead on."
The girl was slowly starting to wake up, and was currently tumbling alongside Pierce, leaning heavily on his arm in her not-quite awake stupor. When he got a chance to look up, Pierce raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "Same old Kai, eh? Still trying to make peace everywhere he touches. Good luck with that." he grinned, patting my head affectionately.
I stuck my tongue out, "Yeah, yeah, Cow-boy. Thanks for your godly wishes for luck."
We were about to continue our banter when an angry voice ran out behind me, "What were you talking about with that evil guard? Seems like you were too buddy-buddy to be up to any good. Pierce, I think he's on their side. Do something about it."
