Ummm, this is my first crossover so of course it's gonna be a One Piece crossover. I'll try my best but I'm not guaranteeing anything good.
So this is from Dani's point of view, before she met Gray. Of course this wouldn't be possible anyway, with the time frames and all but I'll try to make it simple.

I sniffed the air, searching for a bite to eat. I let out a sigh, or more like a pant through my wolf canines. There was nothing around for miles and I was wanting some deer, not the junk in my backpack. I heard a sound to my right and my ears shot up listening to the sound, what was that? It didn't sound like a deer or any other animal. I stiffened, it must be a human. Sure enough the sound got increasingly louder as a teenager with a straw hat walked out of the trees.
"Hungry..." he moaned, clutching his stomach, frowning, "If only Sanji were here.." he stopped as he spotted me. I looked at him, he was scrawny and had a scar under his left eye. We just stared at each other for a moment, I was wondering when he would run, I was a huge wolf for goodness sake. All of the sudden a hungry look came to his eyes and he took in a deep breath.
"MEEEEEAAAAT!!!!!!!!!" he screamed and charged at me. I ran the opposite direction, what in the world? Didn't he have a shred of common sense? I looked behind me and saw that he was sprinting at me, and catching up.
"Stop!" I barked at him but he didn't listen. I turned my head and ran even faster, my breaths now in pants.
"Gah!" I heard him gasp from behind me, I turned around and saw that his head got caught behind a branch that was too close to the ground. I barked in surprise, his neck was stretching, his body still running toward me. I stood there frozen with disbelief, his body whipped back to his head and he hit a tree behind him with a smack!
What was he? I just starred at him, motionless, the tall, 200ft tree that he hit creaked and with a groan fell over. My jaw dropped even further. He got up, not even fazed by the tree and yelled again "Meat!" and started forward.
I shook myself out of shock and barked "Now wait a second!" I turned back into human form, "I'm not some animal you can eat."
I expected him to give me a look of hatred, like most humans would but he said, "Awesome! You’re just like Chopper!"
"Huh?" I said, tilting my head.
"He’s one of my friends." He said with a smile then frowned a bit and scratched his head, "They got lost. "
I looked at him, frowning, he looked like the one lost to me, maybe I could help him out. "I’m Dani," I said to him with a smile.
"I’m Luffy!" he said enthusiastically then his stomach grumbled loudly. "Hungry…" he said again.
"I have some food in my bag," I said, "It’s not that great but it’ll do." I looked around for my bag, "Where is it?"
"Is it that?" he said pointing to my bag, twenty yards away.
"Yep, I’ll go- " I stopped mid sentence when he stretched his arm and grabbed it then handed it to me. "H-how did you do that? How did you stretch?"
"I’m a rubber man," he said a huge grin on his face, grabbing the side of his mouth and pulling it, and it stretched six inches.
Wow, the world is really vast, I thought to myself. His mouth started drooling as he stared at the bag with hungry eyes. I sat down and opened my backpack and pulled out some sandwiches and handed it to him, he sat down and happily ate his, "Thank you!" he said, his mouth full. I started eating mine hot sauce soaking the bread and I wasn’t two bites in when he finished his, I handed him another one. By the time I was done eating Luffy already ate all of my food, eighteen sandwiches and three bags of chips.
"How many days have you not eaten?" I asked.
"Just a few hours," he said sighing, "I'm still hungry though."
His stomach is a bottomless hole, I thought to myself. "How exactly did you get separated from your friends?"
"Well, we were traveling when I saw a really cool beetle, I chased it around and when I caught it, I looked around and my friends were gone." he said frowning, he scratched his head, "I wonder were they went..."
Wow, I thought, to be distracted by just a bug was sad. "I'll help you find your friends," I said getting up and dusting off my shorts.
"Really? Thanks!" Luffy jumped up, literally to his feet and walked forward, I turned into a wolf and sniffed the air, wait a second there's someone-
A man stepped out from behind a tree ten yards away and lifted a gun and pointed it strait at Luffy. "You filthy halfbreeds!" he said though his teeth and pulled the trigger. The sound of the bullet pierced the sounds of the forest with a resounding crack and I looked as Luffy got shot with the bullet.
"Luffy!" I screamed, Luffy staggered back a few steps almost falling. I started to run toward him but I stopped in my tracks and my eyes opened impossibly wide as I saw that the bullet had hit him and his skin stretched so that the bullet didn't pierce through his skin. Luffy stepped forward and the bullet ricocheted back at the man, missing him by inches and hitting a tree behind him.
"Hey!" Luffy yelled at the man, clutching his hat, "That scarred me!" both me and the man were frozen in place, shocked yet again. The man got a hold of himself again and pulled out a knife charging at Luffy. Luffy expertly dodged the blade then kicked his hand, knocking it down to the ground. Luffy grabbed the man by his shirt and pulled him up from the ground, just how strong was he?
"Put me down you halfbreed!" the man yelled at him.
"What's a halfbreed?" Luffy asked the man, honestly not knowing what he meant.
"That thing behind you!" the man spat, pointing at me. I instinctively recoiled at his remark as if his finger really poked me.
"No, that's Dani." Luffy said angrily, "Leave her alone."
"Her? You mean it. She's nothing but scum, filthy tra-" the man didn't get to finish his sentence for Luffy let go of him and punched him right in the face. The force of the punch was so great that the man was knocked back a couple of yards, the man didn't get back up, now unconscious. Luffy breathed out and turned facing to me.
"Thank you." I said.
"No problem," he said smiling that huge smile of his.
I heard the sound of a group of people heading our direction. "Luffy!" I heard being shouted over and over again. I turned back into my human form and said, "Luffy, I think your friends are looking for you."
"Huh? Where are they?" he asked looking around.
"Right over there," I said pointing in their direction, the shouts grew louder and I saw them a little ways away.
"Hey guys!" Luffy yelled over to them and waved.
They came right over and a girl with orange hair walked over to Luffy, "Hey Nami!" Luffy said and she punched him in the face.
"Where were you!" she said angrily, "We were doing just fine looking for supplies and then you disappeared!" she hit him over and over again. Luffy lay sprawled out on the ground beat up and Nami looked at me with a rueful smile, "I'm sorry if this moron has been giving you trouble."
"He was okay." I said, "He helped me out."
"Hmmm..." she looked down at Luffy still angry. "We need to go we're on a tight schedule. Come on captain." she grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and started to drag him away.
"Captain?" I asked.
"We're pirates," she said, and this idiot is somehow the captain." Pirates? I thought, they still exist?
"Well, see ya Luffy!" I said hesitantly.
"Bye!" Luffy said waving at me, Nami dropped him and told him to walk on his own.
"Bye." I said watching as the group walked off. What a strange world, I thought.

I know that was a lame ending but I have been working on this for awhile, my computer deleted half of it while I was working on it, so I just want to get this over with.
