So these were Asuka's friends. Some crazy coyote half-breed and an over-protective tiger. I hadn't meant to knock the tiger girl across the room, but it didn't bother me that I had. She shouldn't have tried to get involved. That coyote kept glaring at me. He seemed to have his own fair share of issues.
Then there was Asuka. It had been so long since I'd seen her that I still couldn't believe she'd grown up so much. But apparently not enough. She's weak and dependent on others. Just like she used to be. I watched as she fumbled over the tiger girl's head making sure she was ok and it reminded me of...
[FLASH BACK TIME!]
I had been beaten up at school by some punk in PE. I had accidently phased to a foxcoon in the locker room and he decided he should beat me up for it. It hurt a lot, but I still had to go pick Asuka up from the middle school. As I walked up to the front of the school, she ran up to me and almost knocked me over with a hug. "Hey Alex!" she grinned, "Have a good day today?" She was hugging so hard that my bruises were starting to ache, "Y-yeah," I lied, "Let's go." She let go and looked me deep in the eyes. She did that a lot and I never really understood it. Then she grinned slightly and held my hand, "Ok! Let's go!"
After we'd been home a while Asuka came into the room I was in with some pain-relieving medication. I cocked my head to the side, a bit confused, then she said with a smile, "I knew something was up. Hope this'll make it better!" She placed the pills in my hand and walked out again. Some how, she could read me...
[End flash back]
She looked at me from across the room and glared into my eyes. But this time, I think I was the one that could read the other. Her eyes said that she was disappointed, but deep down still the cheerful little girl I had left behind.
