What's wrong?

~Shadow~
Ice's face was falling away from me. Changing into my human form I tried in vane to grab the side of the cliff. Ice was out of sight now. Suddenly a sharp pain filled my body as I heard the bones in my shoulder crack and brake with the force of my landing.

My eye's shot open. Somehow the storm we had trudged through had drug up old memories. I sat up, and looked around the hotel room.

Echo seemed to be having a nightmare. She was tossing and turning at the foot of the bed.

Now that I thought of it my shoulder was realy throbbing. I got up and went to the rest room.

I polled off my jacket and tee-shirt. Looking at the scars that covered my shoulder in the mere, I shuttered. What would Echo think if she saw my shoulder? Would she still like me? I jerked my shirt and jacket back on.

A scream sounded from the rest if the room. I burst out of the room to find Echo shaking violently. "Echo wake up!" Grasping he shoulders I shuck her awake.

Her eyes opened suddenly. "Echo, are you okay?" I burst out, not caring if my concern showed or not.

"It's okay; I just had a bad dream that's all." She panted, looking kinda weak. "I just need some air..." She slipped out off of the bed and put on her boots.

"Just wait I'll come with you." I said jumping off the bed. My body protested this but I didn't care, I didn't want Echo to go alone.

She turned to me and put her hands on my chest. "No I'm okay, Shadow, really; just stay here and rest."

I wanted to say no, that I wasn't tired, but I knew she wouldn't buy it. "If you're sure...just don't do anything reckless." I sighed, trying to stifle a yawn and failing.

"I won't, I promise; just get some rest." She said back to me as she tied her boots.

I stared after her as she left the room. Somehow it felt wrong to let her go on her own.

Suddenly a group of men barged into the hotel room. I stood up to meat them. The one in the lead tried to grab me.

As soon as I saw his hand coming I dropped back. Darting out of reach and grabbing an arrow out of my bag. I reached back in and grasped the case with my tips in it. Quickly I switched the tip to a hunting tip while I dodged another hand.

The next man reached for me, and found the arrow stabbed through his hand. I polled it out, doing considerable damage because he wasn't going to let me do it properly, and held it in a defensive position.

Just as suddenly as they had shown up the men dispersed. Leaving me standing there with the bloody arrow in my hand.

I was safe, but what had happened to Echo?
