The ill-fated raven steps in!

~Sebastien~

I sat in my cage reading one of my books that I must have read twenty times over in my imprisonment. The book dropped from my hand as the nostalgic burning pain ran through my neck.

“Sebastien!” The shrill disgusting voice called; I entered into the red toned room. I stood and removed my hat holding it to my chest as I bowed.

“Yes, Master Giovana?” How sickening it was to call the little demon that; I normally wouldn’t give humans such honorable titles but that was exactly what she was as she sat on the satin couch looking utterly dulled.

“Go check on those halfers; I want to play with them soon and I want them to be ready.” She said her voice echoing her utter boredom. As long as this wretched collar was around my neck I obeyed her every whim as a humble servant.

“Yes, your highness.” I returned my hat to my head and turned away walking toward the cells being one of her older pets gave me some freedom but trapped within the walls it was hard to remember the pleasure of the wind against my face. I nodded to the guard as he allowed me to enter. It was just as bleak as it had ever been. I spent many a day here in my early life of this imprisonment. The group of about seven halfers glanced up at me.

“Who the hell are you?!” A distasteful looking child yelled toward me; his dark eyes regarded me spitefully through scruffy brown hair. He was quite zealous dispite his extensive injuries. The other halfers looked up in a mix of bewilderment and fear. I sighed my endurance of such work surely had to end somewhere.

“Forgive my intrusion; I am merely a servent to Giovana. I came only to confirm that none of you were up to anything.”

The answer didn’t seem to satisfy them.

“What are you anyway?” A voice questioned; I looked down to a woman her silver eyes held no fear of me. I ducked my head down and smirked slightly. I guess I had no choice but to introduce myself.

“My name is Sebastien and I am the ill-fated raven.” I tipped my hat politely and raised my head back up. They seemed shocked that I was actually a halfer like them.

“Since I so kindly introduced myself to you; I would appreciate the same from all of you.” I said I was curious what kind of creatures came into our midst. They looked at eachother and back at me, until one decided to pipe up.

“I’m Kallik and I’m a husky!” The woman said in a cheery tone. I expected someone of her age to have more composure considering the situation she’s in. Hmph, maybe I have just aged well beyond my years.

“Yeah, I’m Jethro and I’m a German Shepard.” The one that had originally mocked me spoke up. Another dog, a feeling of distaste washed over me I was never fond of them. Their instinctful loyalty to humans sickened me. Not to mention their bothersome habits otherwise. I sighed, what a dreadful nightmare this was going to turn into.

“My name is Echo and I’m a wolf.” An older girl said emotionlessly; I was unable read a single thought through her golden eyes. Though I was inwardly pleased to see a wolf; I admired them just like ravens they were also seen as the anti-christs. A small voice called me out of my daydreaming.

I looked down when without warning I was called out. “It's me Belk, Sebastien." I couldn't believe I hadn't recognized him; he had changed so much since I last seen him.

"I wish I could have met you again under better circumstances." I said remorsefully holding my hand to my chest.

Another woman looked from Belk to I a little in surprise; her features astonished me slightly. Long white hair shaded her face as she gazed up at me in confusion. I waved my hand in a circle ushering her to speak up. She blinked finally aware of what I desired from her. “My name is Alissa and I’m a snow leopard.” She said. I chuckled slightly amazed that those senseless drudges were able to capture such an extravagant feline.

“ I’m clem- I mean Jake…” A golden haired man who looked slightly older caught himself but never stopped looking at me with bitter chilled eyes, “I’m a lion.” Disregarding his hateful looks I couldn’t help the little flash of astoundment on my face; maybe I didn’t give those hunters enough credit, I chuckled slightly to myself.

I turned toward the very last, another girl; her eyes twitched with utter anger as her lips trembled slightly if not for the bars of her cage; I sure she would have attacked me with little hesitation.

“What about you my darling?” I held out my hand she looked at if she would surely tear it off if given the chance. “Get away from me, you damn birdbrain!” She snapped, I stepped back a little slightly offended.

“I was merely asking for you introduction.” I detested such rudeness. She bit her lip aware that I wouldn’t back down.

“Fine! I’m Kari and I’m a cat! Happy?!” She spat. Though I didn’t say it I was silently amused; I was rather fond of cats. Like wolves they were also seen as deceptive creatures; what a treat to have them I mused to myself.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you all; I look forward to our time together under Giovana.” I said pleasantly. Some went wide-eyed while the half-dead shepard seemed irritated.

“No way in hell am I sharing a cage with some weird crow!” He yelled. I scowled it utterly infuriated me when such idiots referred to me as one of those disgusting little crows. They were as much pets to man as dogs were.

“If I may correct you; I am a raven.” I said calmly regaining my composure. “I would be no more fond to share a cage with the likes of you either. Not to fret, we have separate accommodations but are still trapped within the same prison, mind you. I hope it will be a pleasant eternity with all your company.” I chirped.

“We can’t stay here! They’re coming to save us!” The husky almost cheered Kallik was her name was it. Her hopefulness was cute but utterly sickening at the same time. They were completely dense.

“How foolish you all are. Can you not see how vain and hopeless your cause really is? Even if your friends come to rescue you they’ll surely die in the process. It’s like crawling into a spider’s web. Please be logical if there was any chance of escape I surely wouldn’t have spent eight years of my life here. So I’d advise to you don’t act up to Giovana unless you’re that intent on dying and make yourselves comfortable.” I tipped my hat to them and made my exit letting the door drop behind me. The guard gave me a sympatric look I merely shrugged and continued down the hall. Giovana was surely half-witted if she believed this lot would make good pets.

Sebastien finally arrives! It is as he said he has been a pet of Vana since he was young. He’s really not that cheerful at the moment but who would be after being coped up after so long. Anyway I figured he should just introduce himself and such.
