"How noble you are; always looking out for others no matter how vain and hopeless it really is. Can you not see it?" the bird asked me, his blade pointed at my face.
I charged him, my rage moving me, he sidestepped, but I fallowed. " IT DOESN'T MATTER! THE PACK SUPPORTS AND PROTECTS EACH OTHER, EVEN AT THE COST OF THERE OWN LIFE! I KNOW THAT NOW!" I screamed, my voice sounding very like Shadow's would have in such a situation as this. I rammed my blade though his shoulder.
He fell again his sword landing in the floor.
"What a sore that is..." he scoffed, looking from his wound to me, "I used to understand that; aside from our dark qualities. Ravens are also quite tender creatures. But in that abyss of suffering one tends to lose all sense of hope." He said after a short poss.
"But, why endanger the pack for already lost souls?" He asked.
"Wolves are loyal to the pack, the pack are our family. It is our job to protect our family. If one of us is to be lost, we are all to be lost. As an Alpha it is my job to insure that we do not lose sight of that." My voice was loud and clear.
"Don't you have someone you would die for?" I asked, he looked puzzled by this.
"Don't be absurd, I have no intention of dying before my time. I am a lone creature." He muttered as he held his shoulder.
"So you would just leave the whole world to die?" I questioned accusingly as he retrieved his sword.
"If that's how it would go; I wouldn't raise a single feather." He said all to calmly. My body gave an involuntary shake. My grip on my sword tightened.
"You're sickening! How can you let anyone die when you could stop it? I've risked my life for complete strangers!" I yelled, my anger and aggression escaping at last. All he did was role his eyes.
"Hmph, you're just going to spend your whole life being a saviour; I prefer to watch from a high roost. Do as you please it is not my intention to meddle in your affairs; if you wish to die so badly I will gladly assist you." His voice made me growl dangerously.
"You do that, you watch as all the world around you treats those like you, those who would understand as filth and trash. You watch as all that you ever knew, all you could care about is destroyed. Meanwhile I will protect those around me until my life ends; that's the only way I can be forgiven for my mistakes." I growled out my sword gripped in both my hands. "Also, I believed that the raven was the creator of life, but no more, if the raven really had created life you would feel the need to protect it."
"The world my kind created no longer exists; the only one that remains is made of scum." He scoffed as I glared at him.
“So no good people exist in this world, nothing good can happen, nothing makes life worth living? How can you think that?” I lashed out, how could anyone be like this? “Don't you see that we're good? We care, we want to save people who have given us hope or who we love. So not all life is good, there are still those who are needed by others.”
He crossed his arms the best he could. “It seems there's no changing you mind then. I will be a bit sorry to see another die before their prime.” he stopped, looking at me. “But I don't see why you show so much concern for me. As long as I'm behind these walls; what meaning is there? Simply, there is none.”
I trembled, what was wrong with concern, what was wrong with caring. “Now if you are finished, sir speech writer; let’s be done with this all ready.” He continued in a disrespectfully.
We charged one another again. The long fight was taking a tole on us. Both of us were panting, both of us were losing a lot of blood.
We jumped apart again. He collapsed to his knees. As he struggled up I hacked up a large amount of blood. This fight would kill me if it lasted much longer.
Out of nowhere he jumped into the air and went to attack me. In doing so he left his his chest unguarded. A smirk spread across my face. I jumped into his attack, nimbly dodging his blade. Our eyes locked on each others, I could see the fear in his.
I cut open his chest, barely missing his spine. We landed on different sides from where we had started. He was in hid back, I was on my feet.
I spotted Pierce's dagger at last. I picked it up with my (at the moment)bad hand.
I walked over to him. He noticed me when I stood over him. As he reached for his sword I kicked it away. I knelt down and grabbed him by the collar, dragging him to me.
“You can make this easy… surrender.” I spoke my voice cold and emotionless.
“Never in this life will I give up to a man like you.” He spit back at me.
A thick silence separated us. "You said you're trapped here; tell me, what would you do if you had a choice, would you just let everyone die, what if someone could save you, what would you do then?" I questioned him at last.
"Someone like me could be saved. What a stupid thought." He looked up at the ceiling. "Hmph, who knows maybe breathing fresh air again, would let me see the good in the world." I said thoughtfully.
"Anyone who wants it can be saved." I said, maybe a little to flatly.
"Want it, huh? How laughable. Why go so far when the world will still persecute and torment creatures like us. What is there to gain?" He asked the same question that plagued my heart.
I hesitated looking away from him. “I'm not the one you should ask that; I have no true agreement with the concept…” I stopped to think. “But from what I've heard there is a place where we can live in peace without being treated like monsters.”
He laughed causing himself to cough up blood. A place where creatures like us can live in peace, unthinkable.” I laughed at it.
“But interesting none the less…” His hand grasped my wrist. “Fine let’s make this a contest, if though more likely than not the rescue efforts of your group fail it will only prove my point and I win. But by the unlikely chance that you win…” He stopped, waiting for my reply.
I was a bit surprised by this, but quickly recovered. “If I win, you join our group, you win I get killed. I can't wait to see the outcome.” I stated, looking at him disgusted, I let him fall back against the wall.
Before I left the room I kicked his sword back over to him. "Good luck, you damn bird," I called as I walked away from him.

I could hear the sounds of the sword fight as we ran away. These sounds reassured me. As long as they were present Ice was alive. When it stopped was when I got very wearied.
I couldn't hear anything behind us. I looked at Pierce, wondering of he had noticed, it didn't seem so. after a short while I heard someone fallowing. Pierce noticed as I stiffened.
"What's up?" He asked as we ran.
"Someone is fallowing us," I said, looking over my shoulder. It seemed like we shouldn't just expect it was Ice so we kept running.
After a couple of minutes a cut up Ice joined us again. He tossed a dagger to Pierce.
"You're lucky to get that back Pierce, I almost lost it." He called to Pierce. I could see why, there was a cut over his fingers, all of them on that hand had been cut, his cheek was bleeding ferociously, I could see a stab mark just below his rib cadge, and there was a deep cut all the way across his back. If Ice was in that condition I wondered how the bird was.
