The Trail We BLAZE...Uh...THIS Trail We Blaze!!

Pierce -

I smirked, leaning back on my heels as Kai smiled at Shadow, "Please, it's no problem, I would have done the same thing." I knew he wouldn't have yelled at anyone if you paid him as long as he was in his right mind, so I smirked a little more. I heard Ennis snort, and could see him grinning before I looked. He knew Kai wouldn't've, too. "Anyway, please excuse me, if you'd still like me to tend to the young lady's wounds." Kai slightly nodded to Echo, gesturing slightly for Shadow to move away. He had healed up almost everyone after I tossed him the medicine. Jeez, we all knew I couldn't heal someone to save my life...or their life for that matter...Hahah...Oops.

"Ah! Of course." Shadow hurriedly moved away, hands up in the air to show that he wasn't going to interfere.

Kai nodded, and began examining Echo. Frankly, she looked pretty bad, and it was a little frightening. Kai smiled up at Shadow, "Oh, thank goodness. Simple wounds, easy to heal, and fast, too. She'll be fine." I tried not to notice that seeing people hurt made him upset, because I knew how much he was trying to hide it. He cast his eyes downward after he had dropped a little of the vial's contents into Echo's mouth, and again I saw him struggling.

"Be...careful in this cold, though. Much longer and she could've gotten worse in minutes." His voice spoke of years of experience and sorrow.
I mentally smacked my forehead. Gah...Don't notice, man! You're making it harder on him! I was about to swiftly turn my head away, afraid to make him upset, but suddenly, I saw a sturdy hand fall on his shoulder, snapping up his gaze.

Ennis looked down on Kai with sympathetic eyes, he looked up at the sky, "Aye...Weather can be a cruel mistress, mate. Dark times are in th' past, though. All is right an' well, now, amiright?" he extended his hand to the tan male, "So, geddup, darlin'." he grinned, winking playfully as he tugged the silver-haired octopus onto his feet swiftly. "See? She's okay, and wakin' up as we waste sunlight jabberin' 'bout nothin'. C'mon, n'less ya want me t' run off without ya."

I shielded my eyes. Kai hated being pitied or sympathized with...But I heard nothing but a chuckle. I opened one eye to see Shadow eagerly helping Echo to her feet, and Kai standing next to Fire-Hydrant-Head and grinning. "Hah. I'd love to see you get two feet away before I caught up to you, turtle-legs." he ruffled the back of Ennis's head, and Ennis spat out some incoherent, Australian-accented response that probably no one but Kai could understand.

...Huh. Doesn't that just figure.

"Everyone alright?" I asked finally, and Ice grinned at me, nodding. Kai and Ennis weren't listening, but going on with meaningless banter that no one would remember. Abby walked over beside me and smiled, Alissa by her side, and Shadow and Echo were talking, Shadow looking more relieved than I'd ever seen him since I met him.

I just snorted, and called out to the familiar bunch of halfers who were looking confused like they always did. Hah. Good to be home. "Alright, guys! The gang is all here, and almost all of us are conscious now! Except maybe Jake! I doubt he's ever really there! We can leave him behind daydreaming if you all really want! ...No takers?...You guys sure, we probably wont get another chanc--Okay, fine, whatever, anyway, we can be off now!" No sooner had I finished that sentence, than suddenly the leaders of the group sprung into action and most people ran to Sky, trying to find out what to do next.

"Pierce!" Jake growled at me, Vana on his back, giggling, and I grinned, proud of myself. Nothing like grating on peoples nerves, that's for sure.

"If ya don't want me to offer leaving you, don't space out talkin' to your new little sister!" I smirked, skipping out of his way.

Onward, I supposed. Onto wherever fate wanted to screw with us next.
