Friends?

~Jake

The girls talked for a bit with Kasumi fixing up an ankle injury on Ariel who seemed nice enough and Ennis and I just sat next to each other with my shoulder giving off pain now and then, with the account of blood seeping through my shirt and my bandages. It was really nothing and I didn't really want to bother Kasumi with it again because she was being annoying but not yet do I get the chance of being away from her.

"Hey, lion-boy," Kasumi started with tapping me on the forehead which annoyed because it reminded me of the door that Pierce always put on my head. I still wasn't really in a good mood, but I could loosen up depending on what people said, I guess.

"Need some more bandages?" Never mind. Just hearing more bandages pissed me off. I didn't want her that close again. It was awkward and weird and just weird plain...

"Well, uh, no I think I'm fine," I told her with a slight growl but she didn't care. Damn it. How could I get this woman to be away from me?

"Didn't I tell Ennis over there before not to lie? Same goes for you, lion. I can see the blood seeping through your shirt around your shoulder area," Kasumi told me as she took out her bandages and stretched it out. Guess I wasn't getting out of this...

"Bandage?" Kasumi asked and I sighed.

This woman wasn't going to stop with healing people. When was she ever going to take care of herself? That's what I always saw in girls I met. They cared about others before they cared about themselves. I didn't get it, honestly.

"Fine," I sighed as I shrugged off my shirt and let her get at my bandages again.

It was awkward to have my shirt off around other people, but Ennis was busy talking to Ariel who was now sitting beside him. Besides just that, the scar on my eye was bugging me like hell.

She took my arm gently again and took off the bandages and looked at the wound again to see where it was bleeding. It was bleeding in the gigantic crack that was in my skin from the bear claw, which was the main source of pain besides my bones trying to heal themselves, since all halfers heal faster than humans. The bone was broken, along with the ligaments, muscles, tissue, and skin. I was used to seeing this.

"What did you do anyways to get your shoulder like this, huh, lion?" Kasumi asked me as she took a cloth from her bag and started to dab the blood to get it off my skin first.

"Fight with a bear. I think you already left by then, sorcid," I told her simply and she looked at me and ignored the comment I made. She was doing the same to me.

"Yeah, probably, but why a bear?" I could tell she wasn't only looking at my shoulder, but at the rest of the scars I had on my chest that were old.

"We needed to find a cave at the time and I was being courteous," I told her and she just nodded.

"Hard to find you being courteous since the last time I saw you, you didn't bother helping anybody out," Kasumi told me and that's when I realized she was right about that only one thing.

"Yeah, yeah. I've grown soft. Happy?" I asked to her and she was quiet as she finished dabbing the blood off of me and started to wrap my arm and shoulder. She didn't bother to put it in a sling because of my shoulder being broken. At least my leg was healed...

"People are sometimes better when they grow soft," Kasumi stated softly. "It tells you how much of an ass you aren't anymore," Kasumi said and we both chuckled at that.

It would be different if we became friends. It wouldn't be really weird, I guess.

That's when we heard a yelp down the hallway, and I had a feeling who that was. Shadow.

He was limping along the wall as he came around the corner and Kasumi finished up my arm and helped him over. I could smell the gash on his leg. It was minor, really.

Then my mind drifted again to if Kasumi and I became friends. That would be... weird.

Hope that was okay :D
