Gosh icecream is good when you have someone to share it with.
"I don't think I've ever had it here before," Ariel said honestly.
"Well, I'm glad I was here for your first time!" I grinned happily.
"Yes, big moment for me here; it would have been a shame to experience this alone," she teased with a warm smile.
Where had this girl been when we where traveling? She's so awesome!
We finished our icecream in happiness. I looked at her neck, "What's in the locket? It's so pretty! I love the red ribbon." I really need to stop asking so many questions.
"Oh," she said placing a hand on the locket, "just a picture of my family."
"Where are they now? Maybe we could visit them one day..." I thought out loud.
"They're dead," she looked down and started to look sad. Gosh, why do I screw things up like this.
"Mine too," I said, "they died a while ago, so I went to live with Abby, she's a golden eagle." I gave Ariel a big hug. "I didn't mean to bring anything bad up..it's just my way of learning about people," I said. What a lame excuse!
"It's ok," she said, returning my hug.
"So..." I said after a pause, "what do you want to do now? I mean..I can leave you alone if you want, or we could do something fun, just you and me."
