I loved it when Andy was home. She was wonderful and kind, but also knew how to act cruel. This one small fact led me spending some pleasant time out side the house.
So long as I acted as the well trained dog and she acted as the slightly uncaring owner it all went well. In fact we were in the park at this moment.
One of those choke-chain colors had been fitted around my neck. I didn't mind it that much though. There was no leash. All I had to do was lay quietly at her side and few people would notice me, those that did would complement her on how well behaved I was.
It was nice to feel the breeze in my fur again. She'd been gone a month after all.
"Don't get any ideas. You're not a pet. You're a toy." I lifted my head at the girls voice. I hated the way she sounded, so cruel.
"You should be grateful. Papa bought you at that auction right out from those scientists. Who knows what you would be if they had gotten you." A growl rose inside me. How dare a human talk about it like that. She had no idea what it was like. Andy had noticed as well at this point.
"Willow, quiet," She said softly but curtly. I let my growl die as I glared at the girl who had a cheetah on the other end of her leash.
"Tammy darling, there you are!" I stared at the girl who had walked up. The husky with her was a halfer, but he had lost all hope. I remembered what I had felt like when Andy and Tie had bout me. To put it simply I knew how he felt.
"Willow heal," Andy said loudly and with a bit more firmness then was necessary. She walked up to them and I trotted at her side as if I was a border collie only wanting to please.
"Hello girls what beautiful animals you have." Andy smiled as I stood alert and proud at her side. The other hafers' scents washing over me. It reminded me so much of my younger brothers, Shadow and Ice. How were they now. I could tell the husky was much as I had been back in the lab, and the cheetah was lousing his faith. I sure hoped I'd get a chance to actually speak with them, or maybe just the cheetah.
