Attack on Titan review!!!! It is time!!!!!
This is a review on the anime/manga “Shingeki no Kyojin” also known as “Attack on Titan”. So let me start by saying that before I even started watching it I caught glimpse of some scenes that I either saw on memes or AMVs. At first I was stubborn and didn’t want to watch it since I was not interested it its theme which is of course humans trying to fight in order to regain their territory from a profound menace, the Titans.
SPOILERS FROM EPISODE 1(if you are new to this anime please check out the first episode)
At first I didn’t like many things about the anime such as the era, the way that Titans were depicted and the fact that it was focused on battle and even had a special developed gear. But then Evalinna pointed out that I should see it. We were talking about new anime and she said, you should definitely see Shingeki no Kyojin. At first I declined saying I was not interested but then realization hit me. I said to myself “You have nothing to lose.” And so I pushed the “play” button on my screen and it happened.
From the first scene my mouth fell open for a couple of seconds. You see there are a couple of things this anime has which make it really intriguing and original. This anime or rather those who worked on it , really know how to use the elements of surprise and contradiction.
First you have two kids on a field full of flowers living another day of their lives under the sun, then out of nowhere lightning strikes and a Titan appears which is the worst thing that could happen and also unexpected since Titans didn’t appear for a hundred years. With no boring scenes and useless dialogues, it gives the viewer the feeling of fear and suddenly they are filled with adrenaline as they watch humanity being in danger. So first you have the image of total peace, a sense of routine and then you face true fear and death.
Titans are depicted as cruel creatures that kill humans in many cruel ways and at that point the anime captivates me. You see it is at that moment when I start thinking that this is not fair and that I hope for the main hero to fight back. That is until I see his mother being devoured by a grinning Titan which I’ve come to hate. The depiction of loss and anger throughout the beginning is very important because it transmits the same feelings to the viewer who wants to see humanity win against this enemy. This is the part that defines the anime. It made the fans feel that for the first time no matter their differences humans could unite in order to defeat the common enemy and I have to say I love that feeling.
Another great asset to this anime is the soundtrack. From the opening theme to the ending titles there are songs that give you the feelings that image alone can’t such as anger, fear, awe. They make the tragedy more tragic, the fear stronger and also the fight scenes more intense!
Finally, an anime that depicts hope as a form of survival and will as a form of strength. I have seen this before in anime but here it is even stronger seeing as you get a taste of the power of the Recon troops and I learned my lesson and started appreciating the 3D maneuver gear. It is really genius and I like the scenes where you can see them using it! I love gadgets!
All in all this is a general review of the anime, I’ve finished it and I can’t wait until season II!!!
I am so excited!
Cynisism at its finest!
I have been coming across some quotes from a really popular show that is called Daria, and I realised that the main character is as cynical as one can get. So guess what? I loved it! I don't know why but if something is going totally not the way you planned I think tha best way to deal with it is to be cynical about it!Here are some examples:
You can defend yourself when somebody asks you why you behave the way you do:
Or when people are trying to make you feel bad about eating:
When somebody you despise gets a tattoo:
When somebody lets you down:
Just kidding you should be more like this:
Feel free to tell me about all the experiences that made you want to be cynical and make people hate you!Hahaha have a sense of humor!
Dark days are on the way!
For all of you who think that winter is an absolutely boring and depressing, think twice. Now I am not saying that I was having fun, mainly because of school but think about it.
Every day you go to school you get to experience many things. I remember from my school days that we would walk outside or when it rained we would stay on the corridors and talk about all kinds of things!
I just happened to remember that because I miss cloudy weather...Of course that kind of weather made me not want to go to school back then but now I miss it! I miss taking my coat and my backpach while holding my small ombrella so as not to get wet.
Also let me tell you that school days and particularly winter was a greta inspiration for me.I did so many things everyday that I felt like a renaissance woman. I would do my homework, and after that I would draw or sketch, or even write. Also the winter is a season that makes me want to cuddle near my desk while I am watching tv.What can I say? I am really a winter spirit despite having being born during spring hahahahaha! That is why I changed my background, I wanted it to be dark but warm at the same time!
So what's the first memory of winter that comes into your mind? Let me know!
PS2 fun games <3
So it has been a long time since I wrote anything here and I must say that one of these days I have been thinking a way to spend my last week at home before leaving for the university doing something fun. Unfortunately I was not in the mood to go out so I had to find a way to entertain myself at home. I thought “What would be better that playing an old game using an old console?” You see having a PS2 is not a waste of space at all; my brother doesn’t play any PS2 games anymore so I can have it all to myself so this article is for the ones that have a PS2. There are some really good games that you can afford and they are fun. So I made a list:
1. I will begin by mentioning one of my favorites which you probably all know, Kingdom Hearts 1, Kingdom hearts 2. These games are long and they have an actual plot, meddling new characters (Organization 13 and the three protagonists: Riku, Kairi and Sora) with the magical world of Walt Disney classics and popular Final Fantasy characters. Now this was, in my opinion, a risky attempt at creating something new but Square Enix totally nailed it. They are very popular and they also have sequels and prequels. I recommend it!
2. I, am a sucker for a good plot, but I also like being able to move around a lot . So what could be better than moving around with a team that you can control however you want? I am talking about Final Fantasy X-2 , though there’s not much of a plot, you get to explore different locations and learn a lot of different abilities also the dresspheres are quite amazing (I am a sucker for nice outfits also) and I have to say that it is very relaxing playing FF X-2.
3.For those who like more extreme things, I recommend Devil May Cry 3 , I found it difficult at first but the story is actually really good, some bosses are very hard you once again get to explore a lot and There is a variety of combo attacks. Also the main hero is quite an interesting character. It also contains some puzzles that are not particularly hard.
4.I haven’t been able to play this game a lot mainly because I watched my brother playing it but I can tell you that the whole trilogy is a real gem. I am talking about Jack and Dexter. I know it seems more of a boyish type of game but trust me I had a fun time watching as my brother played, and I myself enjoyed playing part of it. Now the plot is original and interesting, and basically the main theme is that you travel in the future and try to find your friends. If I had to buy only one game of the trilogy I would pick Jack and Dexter 2 . The third game is also fun but I find the second more atmospheric at some points.
5. Um…I am not particularly fond of playing games that are inspired after movies but I made an exception for this one because I was so in love with the movie that I became curious. I am talking about A series of unfortunate events. Of course you get to invent defensive mechanisms, to explore spooky places and I must say that although the graphics are not that detailed I have to say that they are quite impressive. Also you get to pick whoever you want to play as and solve many puzzles, time challenges and also there are hidden passages and mazes. I am really excited about this one and if you are not too fond of difficult bosses then you must give it a try!
So if you want to use your old PS2 and you have no idea what game to play, you can rent or buy one of these games that I guarantee you’ll love!!! I think they will inspire you too!
I will probably write about other old consoles too as well as for the PC, let me know if you have a personal favorite that is affordable and fun or if you think I should have mentioned other games too! Have lots of fun!!!
