This is just a quick little update...
Well, I have all the pieces to my female Ranma costume, but I wasn't able to showcase it this weekend. My boyfriend didn't get his wig in in time, and I don't want to debut the costume without him. We went to A2F (Arkansas Anime Festival) IV this weekend. Again, I went as Sasori, and I carried my Deidara plushie around. Daku went as Kakuzu (he also lost his Deidara wig and headband). I promise I'll dress up in the Ranma costume soon and have Celeste (my roommate) take pictures for you guys! Gomenasai!

Well, I was asked to be a guest poster on this world, so I'll share my first cosplay project.
My first cosplay project was Akasuna no Sasori, of "Naruto Shippuden" fame. It actually wasn't very complicated. My boyfriend ordered the Akatsuki cloak from Ebay. I couldn't find a cheap Gaara or Sasori wig, so I went to my local costume shop and found a Columbia wig, from the movie Rocky Horror Picture Show. For pants, I just wore plain black capris. I couldn't find a way to make the sandals, so I simply wore black flipflops. Seeing as I'm a girl, I had to wear a shirt under my cloak. Looking back, I wish I'd made a couple of small puppets to have carried around. Well, here are some pictures!
DDR's kind of hard in that cloak...
I was even able to do the black cowl! However, that one only works because it's a close-up. I used a black Halloween cape...
For my next project, I'm working on a female Ranma Soutome ("Ranma 1/2) costume. I'll be wearing it at A2F IV, which is around the end of April. My hair is naturally read, and I usually wear it in the pigtail, so I have the hair down. I also have the pants and shoes. I have the fabric and pattern for the shirt, I just need to get it to a seamstress.
If any of you Otakuites plan on coming to A2F IV, PM me, and we'll see about meeting up. I'd love to meet some of you!

These progress pictures are pretty embaressing for me. However, I am too excited not to show you what I have done so far. I am so proud of myself. Please comment on what I have started so far.
I am going to cut my hair shorter and add lemon juice to my hair to bring out my blonde highlights but I have the hairstyle figured out. CHECK!
Now, I already have a shirt and shorts. The shorts are commercial bought and they were expensive. So I refuse to really change the pattern of the shorts. I am going to add frills to the ends of the shorts and somehow attach the black garter and pouch when I make those.
I saw some pretty crafty welding goggles at Sakura con last year. I will have to see if I can find something cheaper at a hardware store because those goggles were EXPENSIVE.
Last night I also worked on the feet things and shoes. This is where I am very proud of myself. I put on my knee high black soccer socks then put on an old pair of my dad's socks that also come up to my knees over that. I then folded the black over the white sock. Taadaa! Now I am working on tacking green ribbon edging onto the socks and then I am going to hot glue the remaining parts of the ribbon onthe white sock.
I hope in the next few weeks I finish the socks entirely and figure out the heck I should do for the arms. For the blue things that drape down the back, I was considering a satin type fabric and using white thread to embroider of sorts.
