Blank page

As you stare at the blank page is your mind grasping for a new idea? Sometimes inspiration flows like a river down hill but sometimes it feels like your trying to grasp the water with your bare hand and sigh as you watch it trickle down your arm. Yeah I know.

When you find yourself as I do alot staring at a blank page whether it be writing or drawing I find it god to pull back and perhaps take in someone else's creativity. (No I don't mean steal it) I mean to enjoy the fruits of someone else's labor. Watch a movie or read a book; look at a great piece of art or many if that's what it takes.

Any art takes the spark of inspiration and even though most believe it can't be rushed or forced there are times when it can. If you make a line on the page and stare at it sometimes you can see the next and it comes to you. Or if you're a traditionalist of knowing what your drawing then doing it you have no problems; unless of course you can't think of what to draw. You just have that nagging feeling that you should be drawing or painting or whatever. Start with a scribble and the rest will come.

Writing is the same way, begin with something abstract an exercise maybe, and then watch how your inspiration comes to you. No matter what the art of creating something is just that an art but it's also a craft of knowing how to create that art.
