“Sounds bad.” Worse than that she oddly felt responsible. But how can it be her fault? Besides, serves her right for being such a witch.
“Whatever looser!” Laura got up just as the bell rang.
Rob followed her to lunch again not saying anything but always there. She didn’t even bring anything to eat so she just sat in the corner and put her head down. “Are you going to follow me all day?” She asked her voice muffled.
“I’ll stop if you answer my question.”
Her teeth were grinding so hard it hurt her jaw. “Well, how am I suppose to answer a question like that?” Her head shot up, glaring at him.
Maybe his lips weren’t too plump or wide. Actually even frowning they were shaped almost perfectly for his jaw. “Well you can tell me why you are different from everyone else in this school? I just can’t seem to figure you out. You’re never mean or pick on any other student to make yourself feel better. You shrink away from bullying instead of standing up for yourself. Tell me why Olivia.”
The way he said her name sent her head spinning again. “I don’t know. I just am. Ok? Maybe having manners makes me weird in your book, but I am what I am and that’s that.”
“Ok.” He said. But he sounded even more confused than before. A cheer rose up from the lunchroom making her look. In came Connor with his head wrapped in bandages his eyes bruised.
The principle was standing beside him and motioned for the room to quiet. “I’m sure you’re all glad to see our Mr. Whales back from his stay at the hospital. For those of you who didn’t know he fractured his skull in three places. But now that he’s back I want to officially welcome him home” Cheers again rose up but Liv barely clapped. Sure she was glad he was alright. But no matter what Connor Whales was a jerk and glad he was alive, wasn’t the same as glad he was back.
