News: Iron Man Reaches 500 Issues

On January 19, Marvel Comics will be releasing the 34th issue of the 2008 comic book series "The Invincible Iron Man", whose issue number will read "500", so it seems as if Marvel's editor-in-chief have decided to use the vol. 1 issue numbering of comic book series "Iron Man" for this series, starting with the coming issue. To understand what's going on, the 500 issue count = 332 "Iron Man" vol. 1 issues (released during 1968-1996) + 13 "Iron Man" vol. 2 issues (released during 1996-1997) + 89 "Iron Man vol 3. issues (released during 1998-2004) + 35 "Iron Man" vol. 4 issues (released during 2005-2009) + 34 issues of the currently running "Iron Man" comic book series (including the issue to be released on Jan. 19). This new issue will take us to a time that's seventy-something years in the future of Earth-616 (the mainstream universe setting of the official Marvel Super-Heroes continuity) and feature 3 generations of Tony Stark's (Iron Man's) decendants as they battle a villain while the present-day setting of the story shows Spider-Man trying to help Stark regain lost memories as amnesia maybe a weapon threatening the armored superhero himself.

Plus, "The Invincible Iron Man" No. 500 will come in several comic front cover variants, all listed below (you can see them at marvel.com):

  • 2 Covers by Salvador Larroca
  • Cover by Art Adams
  • Cover by Quesada
