Today, DC Comics. co revaleas another character description in regards to upcoming comci book series Earth 2. While it will feature a Batman, a Robin, and a Wonder Woman, it will of course have a Superman. But what's interesting is that this Superman, an inhabitant of the (Post-Infinite Crisis) Earth-2, will be portrayed as a dark and edgy superhero tempted by tragic loss, kinda' like the Marvel Universe Anti-hero The Punisher. Series editor Pat McCallum has this to reply in describing the character within the upcoming series' plot: "What would you have to do to teach Superman to kill? He’s endured the loss of his home world, and now the Last Son of Krypton must weather the death of his soul mate Lois Lane. Just how far can you bend the Man of Steel before he breaks?". This Superman won't be the first Superman to lose his universe's Lois Lane as the Superman of the Pre-Crisis Earth-Two did lose his world's Lois Lane to a death-by-illness fate in Infifnite Crisis, and it looks like the writers wanted to revisit the notion of a killer-type Superman once shown in the Superman comics of the Golden Age years (nothing wrong with going back to a few basiscs during creation of new alternate universe versions of Superman).
In addition, Earth 2 will feature Mister Terrific character Karen Starr as she originally was before arriving in the (main) DCnU: the Supergirl of (Post-Infinite Crisis) Earth-2 and cousin of that universe's Superman in the same way the main DCnU Supergirl is cousin of her universe's Superman. Will Moss, editor for the upcoming series volume of World's Finest, indicates that the volume's premier issue will explian the chaarter's transition from being Supergirl in Earth-2 to being Power Girl in the (main) DCnU. This is where I become confused, remembering that according to 52, the Post-Infinite Crisis Earth-2 Superman's cousin, like her pre-Crisis Earth-Two counterpaprt, always held the mantle of Power Girl within her universe of origin, but we, the readers, have yet to learn how history of Post-Infinite Crisis Earth-2 changed since its last appearance in the mainstream continuity DC Unvierse comics.
