In case some of you Marvel Comics fans did not tune in to the 2013 Oscars event on television on Sunday, the hit 2012 movie The Avengers, the only superhero movie to get an oscar 2013 nomination, suffered defeat in the category it was nominated for, which was "Best Visual Effects". It lost to The Life of Pi (other nominees , in case you were wondering, were The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Prometheus, and Snow White and the Huntsman). I have to admit, 2013 has turned out to be a sad oscar year for superhero films, and what it makes it sadder is that the other 2012 superhero films did not get any nominations, not even The Dark Knight Rises (which I felt was the most oscar worthy of them all). Hopefully, the next oscars year will be a big glory time for at least a few superhero movies, especially with the 2013 film The Man of Steel coming on the way.
