DC and Marvel: Must-Reads of March 2013

Today is the start of March, which means the begining of the Spring 2013 season for comic book/trade paperback/graphic novel releases. Anyway, I post today, lists of DC and Marvel Hero comic book issues/one-shots I recommend you should check out in this month, depending on your taste.

DC Comics

DC Releases of 3/06/2013

  • Action Comics (Vol. 2) No. 18: Superman is about to face judegement by someone at the edge of the Solar System, but he isn't alone.
  • Ame-Comi Girls (Vol. 2) No. 1: Continuing from where the final issue of the previous series volume of Ame-Comi Girls left off, the Ame-Comi Girls' final showdown with Brainiac begins.
  • Earth 2 No. 10: The debut story of the Post-Flashpoint Earth-2 Dr. Fate continues.
  • Green Arrow (Vol. 5) No. 18: Komodo arrives to destroy Oliver Queen's life.
  • Green Lantern (Vol. 5) No. 18: In another part of "Wrath of the First Lantern", The First Lantern continues on his cosmic life experiments
  • Justice League of America (Vol. 3) No. 2: The formation of the new Justice League continues, but the superheroes and superheroines selected want something in return for being recruited.
  • The Phantom Stranger (Vol. 4) No. 6: Phantom Stranger battles the three sons of Trigon in a metaphysical game of poker. Plus, the New 52 debut of Lady Luck.

  • Batgirl (Vol. 4) No. 18: Barbara Gordon/Batgirl finds herself in conflict with her brother James Gordon, Jr., who is revealed to be the one who sold her out to the Joker during the terrifying "Death of the Family" event.
  • Batman (Vol. 2) No. 18: Bruce Wayne/Batman is about to lose his sense of humanity following a tragic event.
  • Deathstroke No. 18: Deathstroke fights Teen Titans, with the Ravagers getting caught in the battle.
  • Green Lantern Corps (Vol. 3) No. 18: In another part of "Wrath of the First Lantern", the First Lantern forces the Green Lantern Corps members to learn the light and darkness of their lives as he prepares to assault John Stewart after his attack on Guy Gardner.
  • Katana No. 2: Katana joins the Sword Clan, only to receive contact from Steve Trevor abour granting her membership in the Justice League of America.
  • Superboy (Vol. 6) No. 18: Kon-El/Superboy takes on a new secret identity after arriving at a new city, but he's about to meet a new foe on his trail.

  • Batwoman No. 18: Kate Kane/Batwoman gets a new partner and new role in her fight agaibst crime and evil.
  • Birds of Prey (Vol. 2) No. 18: After leaving his cage in Arkham Asylum, Mr. Freeze begins his quest for revenge against the Court of Owls, with Strix as his first target.
  • Constantine No. 1: Premier of a new series starring John Constantine from Justice League Dark.
  • DC Universe Presents No. 18: Featuring Outlaw memeber Starfire in her solo adventure.
  • Green Lantern: New Guardians No. 18: In another part of "Wrath of the First Lantern", The First Lantern targets Carol Ferris and the other New Guardians.
  • Justice League (Vol. 2) No. 18: Batman questions both Superman's alliance with Wonder Woman and Aquaman's future as a Justice Leaguer in the prelude to the upcoming storyarc "Off the Grid". Plus, the Shazam segment of this issue rveals the New 52 origin of Black Adam.
  • Justice League of America (Vol. 3) No. 2: The formation of the new Justice League continues, but the superheroes and superheroines selected want something in return for being recruited.
  • Justice League of America's Vibe No. 2: Vibe learns the secret of his powers.
  • Legion of Super-Heroes (Vol. 7) No. 18: The Legion of Super-Heroes' new leader's skills are put to the test when the Legion come face to face with the new Fatl Five.
  • Nightwing (Vol. 3) No. 18: As Dick Grayson's/Nightwing's suffering from the effects of the Joker's torture in "Death of the Family" event continues, it may take vengeance to restore whatever hope in Nightwing's life is lost.
  • Red Hood and the Outlaws No. 18: Jason Todd/Red Hood changes the goal of his team after the "Death of the Family" event.

  • Batman: The Dark Knight (Vol. 2) No. 18: The New 52's exploration of the Mad Hatter's orgin continues.
  • The Flash (Vol. 4) No. 18: Barry Allen/The Flash struggles to solve a case in which The Trickster's accused of murder.
  • Injustice: Gods Among Us No. 3: As the super-heroes versus super-heroes fight over humanity's fate continues on, Diana Prince/Wonder Woman finds herself torn between sides.
  • Justice League Dark No. 18: Continues from last month's issue.
  • Red Lanterns No. 18: In another part of "Wrath of the First Lantern", The First Lantern reveals to Atrocitus truths about himself and the universe Atrocitus never saw.
  • The Savage Hawkman No. 18: Katar Hol/Hawkman and the new Shadow Thief are stranded in the shadow realm, and Hawkman's only hope of escape may lie in the Thief's powers.
  • Superman (Vol. 3) No. 18: Enter the new H.I.V.E.. Plus, this issue reveals more of Clark Kent's life as a reporter away from Daily Planet.

  • Age of Ultron No. 1: Ultron's day of reaching his desire to eliminate all organic life and conquer Earth begins.
  • All-New X-Men No. 8: The Avengers meet the past selves of the foundign X-Men.
  • The Avengers (Vol. 5) No. 7: The world's most dangerous hero within the main Marvel Universe debuts.
  • The Superior Spider-Man No. 5: Otto Octavius/Spider-Man faces Massacre in a battle where it may take a certain number of deaths to turn Spider-Man into a killer.

  • Avenging Spider-Man No. 18: Otto Octavius the Superior Spider-Man battles Thor, and to make matters worse, Electro returns.
  • Fantastic Four (Vol. 4) No. 5: The Fantastic Four meet Caesar when visiting the ancient years of Rome.
  • Marvel Universe Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes No. 12: Steve Rogers/Captain America turns into a Hulk and Bruce Banner is the only hope of saving him from going out of control.
  • Secret Avengers (Vol. 2) No. 2: Nick Fury, Jr. wants to bring Taskmaster into his team, but he must first break him out of the Bagalia prison, which was built by and for super-villains.
  • Thor: God of Thunder No. 6: During the end of time, all existing gods (except for Thor) are forced to create the godbomb, a device to alter the face of creation. Plus, witness the origin of Gorr.

  • All-New X-Men No. 9: The past selves of the founding X-Men get new costumes in the present day.
  • Deadpool (Vol. 3) No. 6: Deadpool's violent war against the resurrected American presidents reaches a conclusion.
  • The Superior Spider-Man No. 6: The Superior Spider-Man meets Jester & Screwball.
  • Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man No. 21: Miles Morales turns to aid from his universe's Gwen Stacy when determined to solve the mystery of the new Ultimate Venom after his father falls in critical medical condition.
  • X-Termination No. 1: In part 1 of "X-Termination", the AOA Nightcrawler tends to do whatever it takes to return to his universe, even at the expense of the main Marvel Universe's existence.

  • Deadpool: Classics Killustrated No. 3: Deadpool meets Scrooge from A Christmas Carol and Gulliver from Gulliver's Travels.
  • Fantastic Four (Vol. 4) No. 5AU: "Age of Ultron" tie-in story starring the Fantasic Four.
  • Guardians of the Galaxy (Vol. 3) No. 1: The Guardians of the Galaxy begin a journey to answer of why Earth's the most important planet of their galaxy with Tony Stark/Iron Man joing their team.
