ive been working on my mural for mural painting for a few MONTHS now.
its inspired by Frida Kahlo (dont know who she is? look her up, shes amazing)
anddddd the first part of the project is starting it on canvas board so 1. you know what your doing, and 2. so it can be aproved (or not in case its obscene or bad or etc.)
and theyre aproved by the art director, unless the teachers unsure about it (thinks its questionable), in which case she asks the principal.
my mural (being inspired by Frida Kahlo) shows a wound on the arm that shows bone. (its not that graphic at all to be honest) and because of that...it was deemed questionable and i had to ask the principal for aproval.

i cant put the mural on the wall
they said my mural will make people want to cut themselves...
but it wont...because the kind of thing that might trigger someone to cut would be say...thin red lines...exposed bone that shows a very unrealistic portrayel of a wound...nope.
anywho
im gonna fight it.
this is b.s.
im going to point out EVERY questionable mural out there
heres my thoughts
1. coffe murals
theres at least 2 murals that show coffee, coffee has cafine and cafine is a drug. therefore those murals are glorifying/encouraging drug use amongst students.
2. playing cards mural
theres a mural of a person playing cards
playing cards is gambling, gamblings an addiction
therefore, that mural may trigger someone whos an addict to gamble.
3. Spray paint cans
the mural of the cans of spraypaint could inspire some students to graffiti
4. Ballerinas
theres a couple of murals with dancers in them, dancers sometimes starve themselves or go bulimic to acheive perfect bodys, and that might make girls feel inadequate and develope an eating disorder from constantly seeing the 'perfect' bodys of the dancers on the wall.
5. knife with blood
nuff said.
but theyre apparently taking this down alredy...but a friend of mine did that one a few years back, so im gonna tell him about that, see what he says...
6. gun weilding ninjas
um...violent much? this could inspire another columbine...but with cool ninja costumes..
7.alcohol
there is at least one mural that depicts what looks like a whine bottle.
if my painting gonna make people cut
than you can bet that murals gonna make them drink.
this isnt a "if im going down im gonna take everyone with me" kind of deal
its more...pointing out absurdity.
i know people cut
i know its a problem
but my mural
isnt gonna change that in a positive or negative way.
