I've been looking into the case of missing people, and following my nose have stumbled upon some information. I'm not sure if you know of them, or if they are a different division....but I've heard quite a lot about a group of "Lucca Assassins". Perhaps they are the cause of the disappearances, or at the very least know something? I don't think they would divulge much to a simple recruit >,>' IF they are legit...

Lorenzo de Medici Attacked
So, it would seem I was beaten to the answer, but I can at least assist by providing photographic evidence for record. This is when Lorenzo was injured by the Pazzi.

Mission

Lorenzo The Magnificent," was able to (adjective) evade death and survived with minor injures. However, his little brother did not receive the same fate and was murdered on site.
Instead of taking down the Medici's "tyranny" (propaganda), there was instead an uprising in their favor, granting survivor Lorenzo even more power than he formerly had. Talk about a backfire, fools.
