“Go to Japan for free! No identification needed. Just ask and go!”
That’s what the sign said. My jaw dropped. I was just walking from school when I passed this antiques shop (I decided to take a short cut today) and here was this sign. Can’t be true though….right? As soon as I decided to stop looking like an idiot because of my staring at this window, I went into the shop.
As I opened the door and the bell rang, the city of Paramount seemed to melt away. This place had a lot of old things in it (duh, its an antique shop) that caught my eye. Vases, weapons and tables were just a few things I saw when I stepped in. It also smelled very musty in this shop…. “Stop thinking about smells!” I thought to myself. “I want to go to Japan!”
As I carefully made my way to the counter, I was thinking that the sign outside was an answer to my prayers. I have wanted to go to Japan for a while now…. because I love anime! But you can never tell from my plain and boring room:
Bryan Nelson’s room!!!
I have tons of anime posters on my walls.
I made a poster with photo shop that reads: anime+videogames=me
I have anime as well, including: DNAngel: The complete box set
Neon Geneses Evangelon: Platinum collection
Full Metal Alchemist: The complete collection
Negima!: The complete collection
Final Fantasy 7: Advent children
Welcome to the NHK: The complete series
Naruto: Box sets 1-12
…..and much, much more!!!
(My parents told me that all of this anime would rot my 17-year-old brain.)
…..like I said….you just cant tell. When I finally got to the counter, I took a glance back at the shop (you know…just incase I broke anything while I was taking a mental inventory of my stuff) and then asked the cashier about the sign on his window. He was an elderly man around the age of 65 (he must be as old as the stuff in his shop!)
“Oh yes, that.” He said. “Just follow me to the back and I will transport you by way of the ancient art of transfer.”
Total Silence!!!!
The cashier and I just looked at eachother for a minute.
“……………….okay.” I said.
I then walked out of his shop….and ran home!
When I got back HQ (my room) I dropped my backpack and collapsed on the bed.
You just don’t tell someone that. That man must be crazy! I glanced around my room as a thought came into my head (even though I tried to fight it):
Maybe I should check this out.
No way…he could drug me or even kill me! (Both of which are…you know…BAD!!)
But he is just an old man….No! I won’t go!
The cashier, who now I know is the owner, lead me to a back room (I know I must be really stupid for doing this but hey, I don’t have anything else better to do). He told me to lay on the only bed in the room. Being very alert, I got on the bed. He started to chant something that I think was in Japanese. He then slowly moved his hands in a circular motion above my head. I felt my eyes grow heavy….funny though, I wasn’t tired before I came here….

I woke up on a bail of hay. I sat up and looked around. I’m in a loft of sorts. I rubbed my eyes and looked outside; The loft was surrounded by a forest! I looked up into the nighttime sky…what a beautiful moon…..Hey, I’m wearing a black Kimono!( I should have noticed that sooner).
A yell caught my attention. The loft had a square cut into the wall behind me, so I went crawled on my knees to it. As I peered outside, I saw a man dressed in brilliant armor. He was standing over a shivering man who kneeled before him. Soldiers stood behind the man with the awesome armor. The shivering man was saying something, but obviously I couldn’t understand what they were < “I didn’t tell a soul, honest!” >
What the….I can understand them. They are clearly speaking in Japanese, but I can understand them!
< “Nobunaga, please! I beg of…” >
< “Enough! It is time you joined your mother, Kenji.” > Said Nobunaga as he grabbed a sword from one of his soldiers. He then decapitated the shivering man.
I screamed and Nobunaga turned to me in surprise. < “Men! A spy in our midst!” >
I ducked back into the loft. That was the great demon king I have read about countless times before (in history books and video games).…. Nobunaga Oda!
I am in feudal Japan….and I’m about to die!
To be continued….
