For people involved in the first campaign, here's is a special behind-the-scenes....scene between Willem and Adinious. (It's a little lulzy for you people that aren't familiar, too.)
For a little context, all of this is happening in Willem's head. Adinious has created an outdoor atmosphere for them to speak. Don't ask why, he's weird.
-----------
Adinious: "I hope you don't mind this. I prefer the outdoors."
Willem: "I ... don't know why I would mind...."
Adinious: "Some prefer more comfortable settings for talks and spars and suchlike."
Adinious: "Even during dreams."
Willem: "Ah."
Adinious: "Though one can't really call this a dream, since you're not sleeping."
Adinious: "The joys of semantics."
Willem: "Right."
Willem: "That's fair, since I'm awake right now."
Adinious: "Not exactly."
Willem: "...that's ... I beg your pardon?"
Adinious: "You're in something akin to what the elves call the Reverie. It's an idle state between wakefulness and sleep. A sort of deep meditation."
Adinious: "You haven't slept since you first picked me up."
Willem: "Yes I have."
Adinious: "You haven't. I just choose not to manifest during your meditations. You've tranced these past days, just as you're doing now."
Willem: "I'm confused."
Willem: "You'd think I'd feel weird about something like this."
Adinious: "You're probably growing used to strange thing occuring around you, by this point."
Adinious: "Which is actually why I picked now to begin speaking to you like this. You seem to have calmed."
Willem: "I don't know if this is real."
Willem: "If it isn't, it's just a weird dream. I'm not sure what I'd do about it, but I'll probably forget it when I wake up."
Willem: "If it is, I haven't felt any different since I—since you—uh. Since we met."
Adinious: "This medatative state takes the place of sleep. You've tranced for these past days, but you haven't felt any worse for wear, have you? And you've been easier to rouse when danger presents itself, have you not? That is one of the benefits of this state."
Adinious: "Second, you won't forget anything that happens here. This is where we shall train every night. What I teach you will be ingrained into your memory."
Willem: "Well that part's a little weird. But yeah. I haven't felt off; I barely even noticed anything was going on. So if what you're saying is true, it's not really bad for me."
Adinious: "No, it's not. What I provide isn't typically detrimental in any way."
Willem: "What about the part where I'm a crazy person?"
Adinious: *laughs* "You're not crazy. Just abnormally wary of magic and unused to change. And somewhat narrow-minded."
Willem: "I don't know many people who talk to nothing."
Adinious: "I am not nothing."
Willem: "Well. To other people."
Adinious: "Then don't speak out loud. I can hear your thoughts as well as your words."
Willem: "Yeah, I was going to ask you about that. It might be easier if I didn't sound insane while we talk, if we're going to talk."
Adinious: "Oh, we shall talk. And often."
Willem: "Why do you have to make it sound so menacing."
Adinious: "I apparently have that effect on people. Glendahar said the same thing."
Willem: "So."
Willem: *scratches head*
Willem: "I suppose you'd prefer if I used ... I don't know if I'm comfortable with talking with someone about whether or not I'm using them."
Willem: "But I suppose you'd prefer if I, eh, used you instead of my other weapon."
Adinious: "It would be easier for you to utilize my abilities if you did, yes."
Willem: "Like that thing with the chandelier. I assume you did that."
Adinious: "I did. That was one of the enchantments I have at my disposal."
Adinious: "The ability to use true sight is another."
Willem: *shudders*
Adinious: "It's difficult to get used to, I know."
Willem: "Well. It's not as bad as the lifty things in Sage's Eye."
Adinious: " ... The 'lifty things'?"
Willem: "Ugh. Their stairs climb for you. And then there was the glowing thing that shot to the top of that tower when I dodged the massive pushing-hand."
Adinious: "...those sound like elevation platforms. And a simple enchantment mages often use for attacks. Though it would seem the one you encountered prefers them for pranks."
Willem: "Show me one who doesn't. >=/"
Willem: "Jerks."
Adinious: *chuckles* "Ironic that you hold no love for mages, and yet you can now be considered a magic swordsman."
Willem: *sigh*
Willem: "I don't hate them."
Willem: "They're just jerks. And they do really weird stuff."
Adinious: "Not all mages are jerks. Lady Giselda was quite pleasant, in both demeanor and countenance."
Willem: "She did the weirdest stuff so far."
Adinious: *raises an eyebrow*
Willem: "She sent me to the Battleplains or something for five years. And then I come back and find out it was actually a week."
Adinious: " ... I believe you confuse her for someone else. Lady Giselda has been gone from this plane for many a year."
Willem: "Oh. I'm sorry."
Adinious: "Perhaps you mean Caraliss."
Willem: "Oh! Oh yes. I knew that."
Willem: "She's in charge of me, actually. I feel foolish."
Adinious: *shakes head* "I feel as though you should."
Adinious: "But I see Caraliss has developed her powers since I saw her last. That's good, I suppose."
Willem: "...so, what do you want from me in return?"
Adinious: "Want from you? To stick to your ideals and to use what I teach you wisely. That's all I can ask from you."
Willem: "Oh! Well that's easy, then."
Adinious: *glances up* "Is it?"
Willem: "Unless you want me to kill babies."
Willem: "I might have a problem with that."
Adinious: õ o
Adinious: "You're young. You'll come to see what I mean in time."
Willem: "Well, I mean, uh."
Adinious: "Mm?"
Willem: "If you mean it might get hard to stick to my ideals, I'm pretty sure it would have been just as hard without you around. So there's no real change there, I guess."
Adinious: "I suppose there's truth in that."
Willem: "...so, I can ask you stuff whenever I need to?"
Adinious: "Of course. I'm your weapon as much as I am your mentor."
Willem: "And I'm not crazy."
Adinious: "No, you're not."
Willem: "What happens if we get separated?"
Adinious: "Within around 10 or so miles, we can still communicate. Outside of that, we'll be cut off completely."
Willem: "So I shouldn't lose you."
Adinious: "I would prefer you not to, however, as long as you stay on this plane, I'll be able to come to you."
Willem: "Just like that?"
Adinious: "Just like that. But I can only do it twice in one day. So being stolen or lost multiple times isn't really ideal."
Willem: "Hunh. That could come in really handy if I—uh, if we were ever captured."
Willem: "Wow this is going to be weird getting used to."
Adinious: "I don't expect you to become used to it all at once. This process is a gradual one."
Adinious: "That brings to mind something else. It was quite wrong of me to take control of you on those occasions that I did. For that, I apologize."
Willem: "Heh. You could have just shocked the person, like you did to the prince."
Adinious: "I had wondered why he gave of a prescence that aggravated me."
Adinious: "And I have shocked Karrashiva more than once in the past. I've come to assume she enjoys it."
Willem: "I saw her pull a dagger out of her arm once. That's not right."
Adinious: "Assassin's magic."
Willem: "Of course."
Adinious: "As much as I do not abide her, she has skills of note. Our fights were...intense."
Willem: "Oh. I did have something I wanted to ask you."
Adinious: "Mm?"
Willem: "Why did you pick me?"
Adinious: "You gave off the same prescence that Glendahar did when he was alive."
Willem: "When did you decide this?"
Adinious: "When you were a bit younger."
Willem: "That's a little unnerving."
Adinious: "I suppose it might be. But I watched over the city from the Tower for centuries and I'm sure of my choice."
Willem: "So you know pretty much everything I've done since then."
Adinious: "Pretty much."
Willem: "You sure waited long enough."
Willem: "I mean, not that I think you should have plopped into my hand while I was at the Order."
Willem: "But when the mage was stolen...."
Adinious: "I sent messages to the scriers to tell you where I was. I have no powers to enter your dreams unless you're close. I chose not to appear until you needed me for just that very reason: you didn't need me. Now you do and here I am."
Willem: "I think the mage would beg to differ on that count."
Adinious: "Of course, having the elf try to claim me expediated the venture.
Adinious: "The mage is the mage."
Willem: "I was pretty sure he was doing that, actually. No one would give me the time of day about it, and then you disappeared and they all went 'he's probably after it we should get it back'."
Adinious: *chuckles* "That's usually how it goes."
Willem: "Yeah. It was the same with the little leather symbols for Hornydithers' brigade of nasty creatures, and with the whole 'resurrection of Baenril' thing, with him trying to become the old thing or not."
Adinious: "Hm. I don't have a clear indication of what role I'm to play in his plans or entirely what his plans are, but I've sensed his ambition and determination and neither of them are for the greater good."
Willem: "Part of me thinks he's doing this just to prove he can."
Willem: "I mean, both times he's captured the mage, he's done so basically to have someone to show off to and fawn over."
Willem: "At least, I think he fawns over him. The mage hasn't talked much about the second incident. The outfit he was wearing was ... interesting, though."
Adinious: "It was a harem ensemble."
Willem: "Yeeeeeah, I was afraid of that."
Adinious: *shrugs* "It's not surprising."
Willem: "It sort of is to me."
Adinious: "And why is that?"
Willem: "Well. They're both men, for one."
Adinious: "...and?"
Willem: "......."
Adinious: "As I said. Narrow-minded."
Willem: "...oh that is not right."
Adinious: *shakes head and pokes logs*
Willem: *breathes in through teeth*
Willem: ".......eeeeeeeeee."
Adinious: "There are men who love men and women who love women. Gods, mortals, and those inbetween have felt in such a way. Though you have your stance and I'll respect it."
Willem: "I was not ... aware of this."
Adinious: "There are many things you aren't aware of."
Willem: "I don't know what you'd ... do ...."
Willem: "eaugh"
Willem: *shudders*
Adinious: "...that is one thing I won't be covering. You're good-looking, but you're lacking a few key elements for my liking."
Willem: *opens mouth*
Adinious: "You're gaping."
Willem: "Um."
Adinious: " ... "
Willem: "I have a feeling I don't want to wonder."
Adinious: "...."
Adinious: "...like I said, you'll have to find another tutor for that activity. Although, I didn't take you for..."
Willem: *opens mouth again*
Willem: "This is the weirdest ... dream ...."
Adinious: "I mean, I don't hold it against you. I just don't know much about it and it would be rather...ha--I don't want to use that term right now."
Willem: "I don't know what you're talking about now."
Adinious: *ahem* "I'm trying to say that if you're curious about that sort of thing now, I won't hold it against you. I'm not fond of seeing men in that light, but if you'd want to try it, by all means."
Willem: "Uh."
Willem: "No."
Willem: "I don't think I am. o O"
Adinious: "Oh."
Adinious: "Well."
Willem: "This is awkward."
Adinious: *clears throat* "Quite."
Willem: "I'm guessing you never had this discussion with Glenderham."
Adinious: "...Glendahar."
Willem: "Yes."
Adinious: "No, I never had this discussion with him. He was quite in love with Caraliss from the getgo."
Willem: "Do you ... do you want some more logs for that?"
Willem: "I'm gonna ... firewood. Yeah."
Adinious: "...yes. Let's...take a break for a moment. To collect ourselves."
